Millers Falls Swing Saw - 2021 #33 In this video from 2021, I take a road trip to pick up a 2nd hand swing saw and then give it a quick test. Its a great machine and you will see it put to use in future videos
Hi Steve, yep really happy with it. As my videos are so far behind I’ve had it over a year now and it’s been great. I have a lot of smaller diameter stuff and this helps to process it quickly. Thanks for watching.
Our buzzsaw at the ranch in Montana was powered by a four-cylinder International tractor motor. Good sized swing table and rotating weight for added umpfh on big stuff. We cut a lot of wood with it.
Yes, the counter weight really helped. I also had a small buzzsaw that I ran on the back of a Ford 2000 tractor, which had no counterweight and would pull the tractor engine down when sawing dry fir. Good luck, and work safe. @@TheRuralProject
Hey Marty, I was out towards Traralgon, bit of a trek to get it, but they are not often for sale, I think I got a bargain. It was in great condition, a farmer who had used it for cutting up fence posts but was selling all his farm equipment as he was retiring. Are you thinking of getting one ?
@@TheRuralProject I’m not looking at one. We’re in Newborough - 25mins before Traralgon 👍 Every time we go to my in-laws we travel thru that power station.
That's not the style saw I was expecting when I saw the swing saw title. I was expecting the widowmaker style where the saw in on the end of a long shaft and you walk it along the wood. A saw bench is a much friendlier thing to operate.
I used my old mans swing saw a couple of years ago to cut up some logs about 2ft diameter. It was definitely easier than using a chainsaw but there was definitely some pucker involved as well. When it was sold recently at the clearing sale when they moved off the farm I had zero interest in getting it. The sawbench however is mine. Much saferer.
