Thanks Paul. The log was carefully selected for siding because it was all I had. Makes the selection process easier. FYI..........there's going to be a seminar on blade sharpening (BMS250?) and blade selection at the NY Wood-Mizer store on June 15th if you're interested.

Since this is for siding I wasn't too worried about the planed thickness since it wasn't going to be planed. Like you I hate to waste good lumber to make shavings.

The "clean" face benefit was unplanned. The siding was sold to a customer of Matt's.
