Millions in Texas left powerless and without water after winter storms l GMA 

Here in Chicago we could be in 10ft of snow and still have power, it’s ridiculous these people steal money from their citizens and don’t help them out.

Those board members that pocketed the money rather then upgrade the system, are sitting nice and warm on their yacht or mansion

If regular home residents having issues, how the homeless people going to be. I don't even want to think of it. But, try to stay warm any way possible.

I live in San Antonio. This is my 4th day with no/very intermittent power and no water. I grew up in Nebraska so I'm very used to cold weather. It's hard but you just have to know how to survive. A lot of people don't have basic survival skills. It's not their fault, they just don't know. I've been going to a local wooded area and in the parking lot at my apartments and tearing branches off trees to burn in the fireplace. Luckily I have a small outdoor grill that I've been able to use with the kindling wood for food as well (after I ran out of charcoal.) All of the stores and gas stations are closed, so it's hard to get more supplies. At night I let the embers in the fireplace burn down and that acts as a small "space heater." People shouldn't fall asleep with a live fire going. I put blankets over all of the doors and windows, and bundle up very good at night...making sure to always keep my head and feet covered. I don't drink the tap water here anyways, so I always keep a large supply of drinking water. I also keep matches, lighters, batteries etc on hand. Also, food just has to be set outside in a trash bag or cooler to keep from spoiling. I sit in the car a few minutes a day to charge my phone and keep the car battery from dying. A lot of people are sitting in their running cars for hours on end, which is really dangerous. I'm just lucky to have the resources to survive, especially with a 3 year old to take care of.

Why isn’t the news also mentioning There was NO EMERGENCY ALERT AT ALL about this snow hurricane. We are experiencing hurricane crisis conditions.

Laziness is a crime. It's called neglect.

My heart breaks for all but mostly young children having to suffer in all this.😭

I had and still have family that live in San Antonio. My father was an Air Force pilot and he liked to travel, so we moved around a lot and eventually ended up in Tucson, Arizona for good. But I will never, EVER forget what a wonderful state Texas is!! Some of the most magical things happened to me in Texas and I miss it even now. (I'm stuck forever now living in ugly, hot, ugly Tucson, Arizona, which was my father's last duty assignment and where he settled us until he eventually passed away. I got married and stayed on in Tucson. *_But my heart will always, always, ever be blessed and loved for living in the great, beautiful, amazing state of Texas!_*

Is anyone catching on to the reality that no matter where you live we all need to be prepared as best we can to live without electricity.

Within these couple of months, the US has been repeatedly punched and pushed to its limit from wild fire, pandemic, food shortage and now this... power outage. Thoughts and prayers go to those affected.

I remember this, the night before the freeze started, I had forgotten to charge my phone and then the power was out when I woke up the next morning and my phone was dead, I was dying of boredom and was cold asf

It was so horrible. I cant believe it that my family went through this in Houston. My heart goes to thoes who suffer or still suffering from the storm.

I remember not having power for like 3-5 days. We had baby chickens too, so we had to some how keep them warm. We don't even have a fireplace! That was so crazy.

I heard some lady on the news saying 'our fridge lost power and all the food spoiled.' How can that be if it is cold indoors and freezing outside. Just put the food outside where it will freeze. SMH.

The people with kidney disease need Dialysis every other day or will die. What are health departments doing ?

Our power was out for 97:hours , but we found a motel 46 miles away. We left at 49 hours as my back seizes up in the cold and has become so painful, and now back in the wheelchair I go. Since we are on a well, no power means no water either. Power came on last night so we got to come home today. My heart goes out to those who are still without power. Stay safe and warm! Mother Nature isn’t through with us yet, it’s snowing again tonight.

I was in the middle of this storm, it was dreadful, I could barely live this way, until I went to another house in texas that COMPLETELY had power and had never been so grateful to be in a heated house My pipes bursted too and caused a HUGE leak on the floor that was at least 10 feet wide worth of ice cold water

It’s crazy how dependent we’ve gotten

If you are currently in this situation and do not have a tent, build a fort like children do by using the kitchen table and chairs, couch, or whatever furniture you have. Put a mattress down and make sure your Fort is well insulated with blankets and bed sheets. Your body heat will keep the fort warm. Snuggle with the people you live with to retain heat.

We are in Texas we finally have power but we don't have water. We still feel very blessed we need Prayers for our Texans.
