That is what happens when you are not prepared for this type of weather. Remember The State of Texas is mostly mild winter weather not like othe states that really get bad winter weather.

AVOID MOVING TO TEXAS. If you think this state is here for your best interests, you are wrong. It’s not over regulated like CA or NY. Those who move here are going to be extremely disappointed with the first disaster. Greg Abbott can bite me. He was no help. Ted Cruz left for a warmer Cancun to leave the family dog freeze at home. Texas has no protections. I want them to pay for the 2/3 of my house I lost and the horrible contractors that ruined it as they aren’t regulated either.

Don't rely on a corporation or a government agency to save you. We were prepared and survived comfortably. Always prep for disasters it's your responsibility.

What an ignorant comment. Not everyone has the means and even those that did prepare ran into circumstances they never could have imagined. What's even more sad is your government failed you and those in your community, whether or not you suffered. You should care, especially since it has been years now and our leaders have failed to actually fix the problem, which means history is doomed to repeat itself. It's just a matter of time before it happens again, only we can't be sure if people will freeze to death or die from the heat, bc it's a coin toss at this point.

@@BadgerCheese94those who have the ability and means offset those who can’t. So while his statement sounds self centered, had everyone who had the ability to prepare did so, it would have been much easier for those who could not prepare to find food, warmth, and fuel, especially after the thaw. We should all be placing blame on ERCOT, and the state government, not ourselves, but things would have been easier had more of us prepared. I guess, one way to look at it would be a flat tire. You pay money to a company to help take care of you. You don’t know how to change a flat, despite having the tools, physical ability, and numerous RU-vid videos, if you didn’t want to look at your owners manual. So you call them out to assist you, only they can’t make it out to you for another 3 hours because they are so busy with everyone else who also have flat tires. Thankfully, someone who was prepared, was kind enough to pull over and help you out. Meanwhile, a little old lady, who definitely does not have the physical ability, is still stuck waiting on 3 hour service, if she is unable to get the same kind of luck from a stranger. I personally know someone who’s apartment was flooded and she lost everything. She was prepared, enough so that she even had renters insurance. Unfortunately the landlord was not prepared, and the apartment above her sat vacant. Because THEY were not prepared, their pipes bursted, and apartment flooded below. She might’ve not have had to wait as long and had to live with her parents if there wasn’t such a huge demand for others in a similar situation, had someone else been prepared.

Texas ego and greed killing its own residents. So glad I left back in 2017. It can get to -40 where I live now and the lights and heat stay on
