The Shut Up and Sit Down review of this game makes it sound AMAZING. Those guys are so good at conveying enthusiasm. Go ahead, check their review... go! Now tell me you don't feel like you WANT this game. Sadly, with a cool head, I think Tom is closer to the truth here.
Just looking at Tom flipping the cards, OMG, the amount of easters eggs in this game is insane. I think most characters, if not all of them, ate modelled after thieves and gang members from tv, movies and comic books. Even the thieves from the old 80s japanese comic and tv show "Cat's eyes" are there... talk about now obscure references... (one of them is the lady thief with the painting Tom think she's from a circus act).
I really like the art, and im interested just because of that... but yeah i've got enough hidden role games that i love to bring out to a couple different groups. I don't need this at all unfortunately.
Actually I agree with most of what Tom says, but I do like the game a lot.... It's just you do need good group to make it work. Regarding the snitch character, it's more tricky than assassin, because if you left alone you need to pay penalty.
Glad I watched this, not because the game sounds bad, but because I know too many people who don't buy in all the way, and there simply are certain titles which don't work unless everyone does. Good to know.
I won this playing Captain Sonar at Toronto Fan Expo, a little disappointed it isn't a "good" game - shame they didn't give us a copy of Captain Sonar!
I think the art direction is influenced by video games like PAYDAY, if you're not familiar with that whole genre I think it might be a bit out there. The game relies heavily on a good group of players and stumbles a bit with new players.
This is the worst review I've ever seen. Board game characters don't need any background (?), paper money is great and kids love it and Millions of Dollars is infinitely better than Werewolf.
