Millions of Garnets on the Salmon River 

Yeah these are just too much for me, I mean some risk is okay, but the line between foolish and fun is a thin one.

It really is quite nice.

Hmmm Garnets on Graphite is new to me, I don't think I have seen that before.

@@CurrentlyRockhounding its from a mine in Massachusetts (Red Ember) which is semi famous for the almandine garnets on graphite. Would also like to collect some of the almandine garnets from Alaska..some of those fist sized ones~ haha the ones I do have I've polished up the facets and they look really cool IMO. Anyway, thanks again for taking us along for the trip~

I tried that and it does work well for the larger ones but the tiny stuff doesn't seem to sink as well.

Yeah they just cover everything it seems.

@@CurrentlyRockhounding unfortunately no they got divided and lost amongst my family, I've got 2 big beauty's somewhere but that's all. Probably could say thats one of the very things that begun my interest in rocks though! That's the real treasure

It really is, and the area has great camping and lodging depending on what you're into.

@@CurrentlyRockhounding Oh camping, that’s a great idea, is it a pretty safe area ? Reason I ask that is because I had a bad experience at a Washington state park, I was shot at by some assholes while fishing, called for help, took over an hour for a Trooper/Ranger (can’t remember) to show up, he went & talked to the shooters then he left, within 15 minutes those assholes shot at me again, I just packed up & left. Our state parks are being over run by nefarious people & they are harassing people to the point that people are no longer able to feel safe while out trying to enjoy public parks, lakes, etc. sorry, I went on a rant🤣

The biggest I found or saw in the rock were pea sized.

There are source rocks -- garnet schist -- right there. That's why diggers are putting out so much effort. If the garnets haven't traveled in the river they're in better shape.

It does not have a sign, but on the website there is the GPS for the location.

I think they are worth collecting at least a little jar of for the the collection.

Other side of the state. They are near riggins. Some mt quail around there too. Much more difficult to find than Garnet

@@CurrentlyRockhounding I'll have a small crowd of relatives. I think we'll have pans and 1/4, 1/8, and 1/12 classifiers. Did you find things both at 1/4 and 1/8?

@@NathanMellor Oh yeah you will find garnets down to sand size

@@NathanMellor I did get some of those but I would say the majority are around 1/4" in size.

It's a curse I had to deal with my whole life.
