Thanks. It is so helpful to know the appropriate approach to dancing. I love tango, cha cha and foxtrot. I also would like to be comfortable learning how to dance the argentine tango.
I also love the way you guys interact with each other ❤ i’ve been watching you guys on RU-vid thank you for all your groovy lessons! I saw you guys dance at the Argentine Tango Association for the first time it was unforgettable, awesome and unbelievable I saw moves I’ve never seen before Thank you Best Bruce
This is really helpful esp the part about relaxing and not having the expectation to dance 4 hrs straight as a follow as it’s unlikely and comes across as desperate. When I go social dancing (ballroom, bachata, swing, etc), my goal/desire has been to dance as much as possible because I love to dance. Now I will set my intention to relax and enjoy the event as a social experience vs just a purely dancing experience.
Finally I saw someone mentioning this 4 songs issue! In most milongas I attended there's a disbalance of leaders/followers, lots of followers have to sit and wait for quite a while. In such cases having 4 songs tandas is a big no-no to me! Not to mention that it's rare to find a partner you're eager to dance four songs in a row with :)
Really enjoyed this episode! Lòved the Milonga etiquette. Particularly like 3 songs per Tandas. And welcoming new faces in a Milonga should be a MUST. Thanks for sharing your time!....Cynthia&Art
Very nice video with helpful tips! I prefer 3 song Tandas for the same reasons you gave. It also makes it easier to dare to invite someone you don't know if you dance well with since it will "only" be 3 songs. If you are struggling a bit together 3 songs is more than enough to get through! I agree with you also, the best dancers get to dance the most. Take classes, take private lessons, try to find a partner you dance well with and ask if they would be willing to take private lessons. After taking classes and workshops for a while, it might be worth your while to take fewer classes and more private lessons. Just my 2 cents!
Great summary. Wellcoming new faces... Some places in Munich are so closed out for new faces. Hence, walking over to a new face and possibly inviting to a dance is what Tango should be about. Shorter Tandas for Milonga compared to Tango for sure. 3 tracks sounds a good number.
Two song tandas for the practica are a good idea! Also alternative songs can be quite long so perhaps it is better to make those tandas two songs only.
Hello, greetings from Prague, CZ. Here it is customary to dance 3 tandas during the Milonga and 2 during the practicas. It is customary here to reserve the middle of the pista for the beginners. The more experienced dancers dance in the outer ring. The number of rings depend on the venue; in most cases, the venues are rather small.
