A superb transcription, and outstanding performance to boot! The original is wonderful and I feel the prevalent piano version doesn't do it much justice. Finally a big thumbs up for sharing your work with the world by providing the score! This made my day.
Thank you very much! this is the best arrangement for piano solo and performance of this work that I have ever heard! Thanks for the note! I got a real pleasure listening to your interpretation!
Bravo! This is a most effective transcription of Piazzolla's original score. It retains the richness of the multiple layers and threads of the music without obscuring anything. And well-played, too!
Hi everybody. See the video at the beginning -- it shows you the web address where you can download the score. RU-vid won't let you put links in comments. The score is a pdf. It doesn't have much in the way of dynamics or other indications simply because I wrote it out for my own use.
I'm argentinian and not a big fan of Piazolla... I like tango and milonga in its pure form. But I must say I enjoyed this video! Beneath Piazolla's style, I can feel the tango coming through. You have a great sense of rhythm sir! I suggest you also research Osmar Maderna's great pure piano compositions - like Concierto en la Luna and Lluvia de Estrellas. I would be thrilled to listen to your renditions!
@@planetyam6044 Hi, I've just seen your comment from 5 years ago as I revisit this video, sorry for the delay! Ginastera and Guastavino have composed piano music. Those are the ones I know of, if we're talking classical music. For folk music, there's Ariel Ramírez. For tango, I know Maderna as I mentioned. Of course there's Piazolla as well, as showcased in this video. That's all I have to offer I'm afraid.
@ronwass Yes; thank you for the kind remark. As you say, there is a piano arrangement of the Milonga which differs greatly from the way Piazzolla played it. However, it is of suitable difficulty for intermediate pianists and could be a good way to introduce students to this wonderful composer.
If you want to know what say this text you must to know spanish, a beautiful idiom.
it seems like the trascription has been removed... won't there be no way to find a score..? It's so beautiful just to hear.. I want to play it by myself
Milonga is not slow tango . On the contrary it is a fast tempo rhythm prior to tango. I dont know why Piazzolla choose that name i am still search for some information . On of my favorite pieces ever. This arrangement and interpretation is really good
So true. I was thinking the same thing when he was explaining the meaning of the milonga, so i'm glad you posted this. Milongas are not slow tango's, they are more fast-paced. I don't know why Piazzolla put "Milonga" in the title because Milonga del Angel isn't is a Milonga (Neither is his other tango, Milonga for Three, as far as I can tell. ) However, Piazzolla always said that his music was not intended for dancing, so I suspect that he wasn't even thinking of the milonga dance when he put put the word in his title. Despite his wishes, his music is so beautiful that a lot of orchestras have adapted his music for the dance floor! Or maybe he was referring to the other definition of a Milonga (i.e. a tango dance event). ETA: Also I noticed he also said that Astor Piazzolla played the accordion, which is also incorrect. He played the bandoneon, which is not the same thing.

Hi, this ia wonderful arrangement and interpretation of Piazzolla's Milonga del Angel. I try to play Piazzolla but with lots of effort. Would you be so kind to share your arrangement with me? I haven't found something as exquisite as yours. As you can see in my channel I just play for the pleasure. I would really make my day if you shared your arrangement with me. Congratulations again. It's fantastic what you do. I wish I had had you as a piano teacher.
@cedarvillemusic dr. Mortensen, I'd be thrilled if you could send me the score as well. This is a very, very nice rendition of Milonga del Angel. I already sent you a message with my e-mail address...
