Another M8 with stage upgrade engine failure...HD M8 have issues..3rd on RU-vid that I follow with an M8 issue and the other 2 had stage upgrade SE ...only safe M8 upgrade I've seen is done by Traveling Tall had his bike done by Zippers ..which when upgrading they checked all clearances and piston ..oiling ..they addressed all issues they seen..unlike most HD shops just slap parts on...

Yes ever since Harley started outsourcing their lifters. Before it was the cam bearings now it’s the lifters. 5 to 15,000 miles and they blow part sometimes anyway especially on CVO’s

A wise man once told me leave it stock if you want to be happy. Did I listen no. Live and learn.

To see the bigger chunks you can cut the filter element out, and then put it in a vice to squeeze out all the oil. It picks up better on camera. Also I blew up a sportster running six filters, it looked the same. I believe that’s a automotive oil filter so it doesn’t help very much with cold start pressure.

So I am watching this at breakfast time as I prepare to change the swing arm on my Dyna - bearing needed replacing and I have a spare swing arm so no problem there.... I just got done the other day fitting the 'new' cylinders and pistons to the bike along with S&S camplate and oil pump. First start - run for a minute, next day run for 5 minute run and listening to the engine (both times) I thought I heard lifter noise, but no - it's in the primary (manual chain adjuster needs tightening I hope)....... I am so glad I am not the owner of that bike..... but then it's warranty so..... I have doubts about wether the cranks are strong enough for all the power the stage 4's make. I have had adjustable pushrods 'de-adjust' (because I didn't tighten the lock) and make a noise like that.... what a relief it wasn't as serious as that bike you have there..... Either leave it all alone, or get the bike warranteed boys and girls - if the price of parts doesn't kill you, the labour will !

Metal in filter...looked like some vertical scoring on the cylinder walls. Even tops of the pistons, particularly the rear, looked like signs of heat. Did they upgrade the oil pump when they installed the stage 4? Might have been bypass spring/valve issue on the stock oil pump leading to low pressure and not enough oil getting to the heads.

Thnx Brad again. While the cause is something to be fixed, I just wonder if that reusable oil filter with a magnet in could be of any help. Or what if we place an outer strong magnet at the bottom of the stock filter, would it be of any help, assuming that the magnet drain plug is far away?

Great video Brad! It sounds like cam/oil pump issues, the knocking sound seems louder on the right side of the motor. But, I agree with @Richard Sak (LOL, like Richard Cranium) scoring on the cylinder walls sure looks like it was starved of oil. I guess we will see in Part 2!

Wix filters are a high quality filter. As long as it was designed for the motorcycle, it's good to go!

Let’s say I want a stage 4 down the road after my warranty expires....do dealers give warranties on that or any assurances that would make me as a customer whole if a mistake was made during installation? Thanks great work man keep it up super interesting video you got goin on

A bit of time wasting with bore scope when you have check compression which would tell me that the cylinders are OK

Dear MoCo: I have a $30,000 bike that sounds like grandma's sewing machine and runs like a turtle.

It is not uncommon to have a bad batch of valve springs these days looks like the guy is going to get a new engine

I got a 2020 milwaukee-eight I run the Harley Oil Filter I'm going to put an S&S oil pump in it would I still be good with the Harley Oil Filter or maybe looking at a K&n oil filter

Just junk...absolutely sad that people are being mislead to think Harleys are still a good bike...for me the evolution engine was a solid built machine..now it's all fuel injection junk..no quality control at all no wonder the company is dead..so sad

Why would you spend that kind of money on a air cooled pushrod motor ?? Boring get a real bike !!!
