The Damian Lillard trade broke the NBA. The Miami Heat went from presumed favorites in the Eastern Conference with a trio of Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Damian Lillard, to having the worst offseason in the entire NBA. The Boston Celtics saw the Dame trade as an opportunity to improve themselves by poaching Milwaukee's former All-Star guard, Jrue Holiday. Finally, the Milwaukee Bucks acquired the man himself, Damian Lillard. So today, we'll break down how Damian Lillard fits alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Detailing everything from what it means for Giannis Antetokonumpo's upcoming contract extension to how Dame can help the Milwaukee Bucks return to the NBA mountaintop. I'll also address the biggest concerns with the roster following the trade, such as the questionable perimeter defense and depth.

@@Shawn-Leiderstop it Giannis should never defend Jimmy that's plainly stupid Giannis is the rim protector no matters what Jimmy does he can't match Giannis impact and we seen that when Giannis returned and Milwaukee went up by 20 entering the 4th and Jimmy was doing everything he could possibly do and it wasn't even close Giannis injury just prevent from continuing his attack

Bud wasn't wrong for not doubling Jimmy that wasn't why they lost they lost because the idiots on the floor was walking the ball up allowing Miami defense to set up while Miami was pushing the rock down their throat before Milwaukee could set their defense up

On that Perimeter defence point, Jae Crowder, Marjon, Andre Jackson Jr, we have guys that can pick up on the wing I truly believe. Gotta give the young guys time for sure but I think they will get there

Maybe. If we could overcome Bud's inadequacies, and Jrue's offensive disappearing act, a couple more times The one I'll always think about is 2019. We were 3 minutes away from going up 3-0 and it all went to shit in overtime of game 3

@@gotaplanstan now I blame that 100 percent on Bud bad coaching there was no way he should've ever assigned Khris as the permanent Kawhi defender when he needed him to help Giannis on the offense that's what cost us the championship but all the other playoffs wasn't Bud fault it was mostly Lopez fault for not stepping up and dominating the post when he was the biggest player on the floor in every series u gotta look at Brook impact around 3 to 5 rebounds a game. Very minimum post points that very highly effective on wins and losses then after Brook it's Jrue Holiday lack of being a true 3rd or 2nd option when needed

We gotta see Giannis being the wing defender against some of the best like Kawhi, Bron, KD, Tatum. Especially now that there’s less pressure offensively. Come playoff time, we need him to step up if this team is gonna compete defensively.

Bucks got a deep bench too. Cam Payne, Malik Beasley, Pat Connaughton and Bobby Portis. With Jae Crowder most likely starting at the 3, the Bucks have a great 9 man rotation and are deep top to bottom

Dame is short for a NBA player, but you can see how strong he is. If he's got help behind, and less offensive wear and tear, he'll be able to hold his own. He'll still struggle with taller players, but he can be more physical on that end than he's been and chasing players off the 3 line will be safe to do when that means they have to drive directly into that meat grinder, whereas at Portland that just meant giving up easy buckets

Stopping Jimmy(The Barista) came down to starting Wesley Matthews on him for 5 minutes. No offense, just balls to the wall defense. Then Crowder repeats the process for 5 minutes and Giannis gets "The Barista" (that's mine) for the last 2 minutes. Then play Wes & Jae accordingly regarding The Barista's minutes going forward. Jrue can shut down whoever is Miami's next biggest scoring threat on the court. Don't have to shut Butler out - he can get his 30. But he's not dropping fitty. On to round 2.

Everything was going great, like really, nice video, until the last minute and you labeling KP as a solid option to help neutralize Giannis and I lost my mind bc it was going so well.. not this again. Like seriously wtf is happening with KP, it's another Porzingis different from the one who was defending Giannis while he was scoring his carreer high just seven months ago or is him another one, a twin brother or something? All Boston hopes to slow down Giannis should rely on 95yo Hortford and his ability to look like a 30yo sometimes. And maybe Brown or Tatum? Jrue "a la" Smart? Not so sure. The players who had more success slowing down Giannis from Boston the last few seasons were Hortford, Grant W, Timelord and Smart. Porzingis... he could magically learn how to defend a la Brook style from nowhere and be a capable defender I guess, nothing is impossible, but realistically speaking there's a lot more chances of being succesful on the task of slowing down Giannis giving Hortford some (one more) fountain-of-youth energy drink imo. It's somehow funny, Jrue is the Dame stopper bc 5 years ago the Pelicans were totally allowed to doble and triple-team him (and CJ was putting great numbers in part thanks to that), five years ago, but no one cares about Giannis putting 55 points on KPs ass last january. Everywhere I look there it is, KP is a fearsome rim protector, KP can help to stop Giannis, how? when? based on what? on he being very tall? he wasn't that tall 7 months ago? I just don't get it. I'm not a great analyst, not even an average one, but I don't get this thing about KP being a Giannis stopper or at least a capable one lately on literally every yt video o podcast I check. I admit I barely watched 2 or 3 Wizards games last year, maybe that's why, but I watched them against the Bucks and... it just looks like we were only Bucks fans watching those bc... wait... that would make some sense 😅

Honestly man you’re mostly correct in your assessment. But note I labeled those 3 as a unit with Porzingis more so serving the Rob Will role of strictly protecting the rim. Horford and Tatum would more-so take on that primary defensive role of trying to guard Giannis.

Ahahahah your good man I appreciate you pointing that out. I just really wasn’t trying to dive too deep into the Celtics because I plan on making a video about them as well. But the reason I believe KP will be a decent rim protector for Boston is just because of the way that team is built. They have a lockdown backcourt with Jrue and Dwhite. They also have JT who is one of the best two way players in the league. JB is a very solid on-ball defender despite some of his flaws off the ball. And obviously Horford is just a solid guy and he’s proven he can defend bigger guys like Giannis and Embiid. All of these guys being great at what they do defensively allows KP to strictly focus on protecting the rim which I think he can do given how strong the rest of the defense is. That’s my true take on Boston’s defense with KP.

@@jonathanalvarez8477 injury occurring doesn’t mean the scheme worked. Giannis while injured in the 2 games back was 32-15-5. The raptors were the last team to successfully stop Giannis…he was 24 and that team was stacked for D players

Jrue is a good defender but imo not what the bucks needed, their offense was horrible and none could create space for Giannis, I don't think jrue fits celtics either because his role will be the exact same with Derek white

I agree with your take on the Bucks. Getting a player like Dame is a much better fit alongside Giannis despite the defensive concerns. However, I do think Jrue is a good fit with the Celtics because I think he’s a better primary ball-handler than Dwhite is and he’s better at running an offense.

He’s not gonna be some glaring hole like people think. Imagine throwing jrue on Portland, this league without hand check is all about pressure ball handler and try to push them to where you want them where you have help. I assure everyone dame is not gonna be some massive liability. It’s just not in his dna to be a problem like that. And he’s likely also hesrd the concerns and stepped up.

We had ENOUGH with the Bucks defence. We were talking defence when at the same time we were "live or die by the uncontested 3"....Jrue was embarrassed against Miami. And people forget that if Giannis has an easier way on offence (rather than bully ball 1vs 5 82 games...) if will make it easier for him to serve of defence as well. AJJ, Marjon, Jae, even Malik are all better options than Pat on office AND defence...
