I own all m12 tools but ended up buying the Bosch brushless installation tool. I want the smallest, lightest weight too for work around the house. I grab the bosch 80% of the time to do most jobs. My m12 hammer drill and impact driver get used 20% of the time. Hopefully the 2nd gen m12 installation driver will be like this European design except smaller, no hammer, and lighter.

What the heck Milwaukee??? Why??? Why is this not in the USA? It’s like a German who works for Milwaukee saw the USA version and was like NOPE! And built arguably a better driver overall. Personally I’d love for Milwaukee to take the best parts from new M12 fuel drill, the USA driver, and the German driver, and combine them into one awesome installation driver. I’m sure it can be done.

Today I bought a similar "broken" drill and two batteries for $40. After half an hour, the machine works like new. The problem was in the left/right switch. It seems to me that the previous owner only used the machine in one direction and that (corrosion or dust) caused the drill to run unevenly. An excellent, high-quality product that I can recommend to everyone. Greetings from Switzerland

Thanks again for both installation driver tests. I took a look at the import milwaukee back when shopping for an installation driver, but for me, the higher price, lack of US warranty, higher weight and lack of a dedicated locking hex chuck turned me off of it. I've been very happy with the dewalt.
@Tools-Tested

No problem, yep definitely $$$ after shipping and import cost. I do really think the Dewalt is the best overall.

They don’t bring to USA because then sales would drop for other things because this tool is very versatile for different jobs

Can you also try to test the bosch profactor drill the GSB 18V 1330c which supposed to have most torque than other brand plus the motor is a powerhouse. Thanks

The FPDX is a great home owner all-in-one solution. I like the form factor of the US variant better, plus the magnetic D-handle is very handy. But having a hammer function for mounting anchors in brick and concrete makes the FPDX the only drill most people would ever need. Plus the speed of drilling a pilot hole and having a drill bit in the hex underneath is faster than having another drill on hand.

I did know this until today, but the Bosch has an SDS plus rotary hammer attachment. I wonder how good the performance could be at 12V, but perhaps better than a hammer drill function due to rotary hammer design.

There is some alternative with similar specs to M12 FPDX always with percussion function?
@alexibarra1298
@alexibarra1298 9 месяцев назад
Thing looks like a little beast. Glad the attachment housings are plastic on US version, with the exception of the jacobs. I don't like risking a scratch on other trade's finished work. The US zipper bag is already useless to me, so this case would be the same and probably take up too much storage space.

Did you mentioned you can have a short bit in the driver of the PBDX (Edit: FPDX) and on top, without removing, you can put on the drill chuck?

I’ll stick with both Bosch install drivers! But if I get the need to start putting on lug nuts with a install driver, then I’ll possibly pick up the Euro M12 or Default 12v.

Interesting look at an uncommon tool for us here in the US. I don't think I saw your Install Driver comparison video?? But I've been looking at them since TTC's Formula 1 pit tool video the other day. I'd been wanting a drill as an install driver for garage work, just for sake of having the torque-limiting clutch, but these seem like a really nice, lightweight alternative to a classic drill. And yeah, I think I agree that I'd pick the Dewalt kit, though I do really admire how tiny the Bosch tools are. On another note, I really wish the attachment mechanisms were standardized between brands. I'd really prefer to mix and match to get the best of each, whether for the more compact design, or more robust. Same for batteries using maybe two standard connections and electronic standards. Ah well, wishful thinking.

They jus better then us i guess lol o yea then there is Japanese hikoki and makita stuff although that may not be available to Europe either but jus mentioning not north America

The full metal offset attachment is a desirable feature, but more of that unrestrained Milwaukee power isn’t all that great in an installation driver.

I think that Milwaukee decided that the hammer drill function was better suited for use in brick buildings more common in Europe, and so they launched it first there. Later, they developed the smaller Festool style drill and saw no need to launch this bulkier one in North America.

I personally like the U.S version or the festool/Milwaukee. I own so many drills and impacts that I just don’t need to use my installation driver in a situation that require a lot of power. And honestly that’s not what they’re intended for.

Seems to have just as many "what were they thinking" design decisions. At least it doesn't have the uncomfortable and fat bulbous grip the more common one has. Only Milwaukee tool I ever returned. I know in theory you are supposed to hold it differently but regardless, an installation driver should be like a scalpel , not a sledge.

They still screwed up the offset attachment.. No locking collar But they got the forward and reverse right I like the USA version better They just gotta fix the F~R switch (move it to the normal position by the trigger) and the offset attachment needs a locking collar. I had the USA version for about a week and returned it , hated bring it back but it was just too annoying to use. The German (EU) version, meh who cares.
@ccbowers
@ccbowers Год назад
Makes little sense to have a long installation driver like that. That 1/2 inch chuck and hammer drill function adds limited utility for the type of tool, at a significant cost of length. These are meant to get into tight spaces and for light duty task. Perhaps this could make sense for a homeowner who doesn't want to own any other drill.
@ccbowers
@ccbowers Год назад
That being said, I also don't like the current m12 installation driver either, but mostly due to ergonomics (direction switch, knuckle guard, grip). Maybe the next gen will combine the two features

Digital clutch is wonky, drill body is too big for an effective installation drill - not good for tight spaces, does not come with a bit holding chuck. Only thing this has over the newer Installation drill/driver is the compact plastic drill chuck. Much better than the huge metal chuck they are giving you with the new one - plastic is less likely to damage finish surfaces, and smaller size is an advantage for tight places.
