That would have been awesome for a pistol grip design, but I think the motor is in the handle on this one so it would have been difficult to slim it down.
I own one and already popped over 1000 rivets, this tool is a hand saver forsure The rivet mandrill will go back into the catch on there own if you use the next size up
Just a note about the mandrels staying in the tip - This is actually a designed feature. If you look at all the tips you'll see a colored band (most think that's it's just there to denote size) it's actually an o-ring that grips the rivet so it doesn't fall out when it's pointing down. VERY HANDY! I prefer to pull the mandrel out the front as if you have lots of mandrels in the catcher, it's almost guaranteed that they will start blocking others from dropping in and the tool will get jammed. Unlike some cordless riveters that are a pain to take apart to clear jams, at least the Milwaukee is fairly quick.
Wished this was out 30-35 years ago. I got injured by one of those short handled rivet tool as one of my finger caught inside the two lever handles due to poor leverage design. Back then you can't even found long handled rivet tools for better leverage.
Thank you for the info in your video buddy. On the back where the black plastic rivet stock catcher is, when you take it off you'll see a white plastic plug in it, what is that for? Why I'm asking is because when I first got the tool I was on the phone talking to my wife as I was putting it together so I wasn't really paying attention so I tried pulling that plastic plug out thinking it was a protection plug like you see in a new air tool. Well I broke off the out ring of it and the rest of it is still inside of it. My question is, did I affect the performance of this gun by doing this and what's that plug for? I work with sheet metal and we call these rivet tool "GUNS". If ya look closely at that plastic plug you'll see numbers or letters in it. Anyway I'm so nervous now because I'm not sure if I ruined this gun. Anything that you could tell me would help. Thank you for your time and I gave you a huge thumbs👍up on your video buddy, take care.
Can’t get the nose piece odd the nose housing just got the tool used once wanted to change rivet size but cannot remove original 1/8 nose piece from the nosehousing...help
I think I had to get a bigger wrench out than the included one in order to loosen the nose piece the first time. They must really crank it on there at the factory.
finally!! A cordless rivet gun! Was hoping someone would do it. I hate using the handhelds especially if you’re trying to beat the clock. My next purchase for sure just sucks its over 4lbs. That will make for a sore arm if you use it enough in a day
Agree. Just the other day i was needing a 1/4" rivet gun. So i had a browse to see what Milwaukee had, found this, and then was a little bit disappointed to see it wouldnt go up to 1/4". But even still, it would be a handy tool when alot of riveting is done. A few months ago i bought some storage cabinets from the local hardware store. They, like everything these days, were the cheap chinese crap. I knew from prior experience that they cabinets are "ok" once you do some modifications. Those mods are add about 50 srcrews/rivets to stiffen the structure up. And make another couple of shelfs. (They never include enough shelfs). So 2 cabinets meant i had to hand pull near on 100 x 3/16" rivets that day. This tool would have been awesome. And worth buying just for that one job.
Bram Biesiekierski I definitely agree, you would think with all that power it could do 1/4. I got so excited when I saw this and got so disappointed when I found out it couldn’t, I guess Milwaukee is going to use that as an upgrade in their tool line up in the future.
ibrahim elmohtadi It may also be a physical limitation with the puller jaws. Like they cant be small enough for the smallest rivets, while at the same time big enough for the biggest rivets. Dunno? Handheld Pop rivet guns never go up to 1/4". In order to do them you need a more specialised riveter.
It's a little worrying that some of the mandrels don't drop right out the back and can be a major flaw. I've had other cordless riveters where they've become clogged and trapped unknowingly because they didn't drop out and inevitably ruined the tool. I did like the look of this but it just doesn't look anywhere like beefy enough for constant use of anything over 5/32.
That's a good point about potential jams, although I haven't experienced any myself yet. It's got a 5 year warranty, if that helps alleviate any longevity concerns.
Doresoom Reviews I speak from years of experience with cordless riveters, not saying that as a knock back so please don't assume that. My main cordless riveter is a Gesipa Accubird which many consider the industry standard for such tools and it does happen with them. However I've found with the Gesipa if it's turned upright the mandrel drops out which clears the barrel. Hopefully this won't be an issue as it's a very tricky fix and even given the 5 year warranty, downtime with such tools is costly for the end user as those who use them constantly benefit greatly from time saved. I've thought about ordering one from the US but the warranty wouldn't count in the UK so I'll have to wait :(
Like rivnuts? I don't think so, unless Milwaukee made some sort of threaded adapter for it to pull on in place of the standard pop rivet mandrel. Even then you'd have issues controlling travel, since pop rivets just break off.
$170 bare, $300 for 2 battery kit. I'd recommend buying bare tool, and if you don't have any M12 batteries, you can get a cheaper drill or impact kit with batteries and a charger for $130 or less.
Hello Nate, very nice video, keep them coming! I've been using some big rivets (don't know it's size in imperial cause I only use metric) but I would like to send you a picture if possible, then you could check it for me. Thanks man, I really like your reviews, you got a subscriber when I watched your M12 right angle impact review. Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷✌ Cheers!
Ok, as soon as you said you couldn't get 3/16 for your review? I gave you a thumbs down! If you can't do a proper review! Then why bother! Thumbs down!!!!
