I'm an electrician and I have 2 of these. I keep a #2 philips on one and a driver bit on the other. I've been using them for about 3 years now and can't imagine going back to a heavier, more bulky screw gun. I actually bought the 2nd one when the 1st stopped working. I sent the tool in to Milwaukee for repair and they sent me a brand new one, so 2 brand new screwdrivers. Well... not new now. They're very used screwdrivers. I keep my impact and my hammer drill near-by, but at least 1 screwdriver is on me at all times.

I have this model and love it. I also got the Fuel version. It's powerful as hell, but the clutch isn't nearly as sensitive and you have to be careful with small screws. I have an M4 (4 volt) that's really nice too. There is a 2 speed version of the one you reviewed here, it's the 2406. I will be getting it soon, as I am a tool addict.

Which would you prefer the M4 or the fuel version of this tool?
@mikemorgan5015
@mikemorgan5015 3 года назад
@@lvillegas1821 That totally depends on what you'll be using it for. Since posting my comment, I got the 2 speed 2406 as well. It's a great tool as well. But due to the small footprint of the M4, I take it everywhere and it has become my most used tool. It isn't perfect. No LEDs, no variable speed control, and button position that is a bit wonky when used left handed in the pistol configuration. But it's just handy as hell. Perfect for 9x% of what you use a screwdriver for, with enough speed to drill small holes in sheet metal and wood. But not the tool to choose if you want to drive 3in wood screws with no pilot hole. If you are doing serious driving of beefier screws the Fuel or 2406 are the ones. Both have 2 speed gearboxes and enough speed to do real drilling, though not as good as an actual drill. The single speed model is just fine for most applications and can be had as a 2 battery kit a couple times a year at HD. That's hard to beat. If they came out with another M4 with variable speed control and LEDs, I'd buy it tomorrow. It's nice to be able to drive screws and listen to the radio at the same time. Quiet is very nice. All of these are quiet tools.

@@FixitBongbong Actually, I'd really like your input on the Dewalt 12V Brushless screwdriver. Do you have any experience with it? I know the Milwaukee driver is really solid, but I've heard several people say they like the Dewalt handle better. I don't know how fine and controllable the Dewalt is. I like the idea of a more energy dense and efficient brushless tool, so I'm inclined to go towards Dewalt. (The V2 of the Milwaukee screwdriver does not have a physical clutch, so I think it isn't going to be reliable). Also, I don't know if you can feel the torque feedback and load on a brushless tool like you can with a brushed tool. From what I understand, brushless tools are velocity controlled, so if you weren't using a clutch, the you would still reach a high torque even if you're going slow. However with a brushed tool, you can feel the feedback. You can feel it slow down when there's load and you can tell (by sound and feel) how hard it's turning. My plan was to try the Dewalt and return it for the Milwaukee V1 if the Dewalt turns out to be bad. Was wondering if you had any input.

Nice tool and good review. I just don’t understand why someone would wear gloves for a cordless screwdriver review? I only wear gloves when necessary to protect my hands from cutting, abrasions, splinters, chemicals or heat. Nothing like having the manual dexterity of holding things with a bare hand such as small bolts, screws, nuts, etc.

Thanks! To answer your question.. two reasons: 1. It's the internet, if I didn't then I'd have a bunch of comments wondering if the ergonomics still work with gloves. 2. They were my glove sponsor at the time ; ) Personally, I work with non disposable gloves as much as possible.

It’s nice but I rather spend the money on the M12 impact version and drop it down on 1 setting for automotive use. Just go easy on the trigger but would save space in the toolbox or work truck in my case. Prior dealership tech years ago and now do commercial HVAC. It stays in my tool backpack and it’s lightweight compared to the full-size M18 impact FUEL I also own. Love all the stuff Milwaukee makes.

the impact is great, but I do find that it is important to be able to hand tighten or break manually. I end up having both.. the screwdriver when I need the clutch, and the impact for speed and breaking manually. however, if you got version two, which goes to 325 inch pounds instead of the 175 of this version... however, you can get this one with two batteries for 99 here in Canada which is very inexpensive.

This thing is fantastic. ru-vid.comUgkx1McjgiqTNcTjrhvRvJWcrk5bzTeQW-Wn Easy to store in a bag in "screwdriver" position, not heavy but well built, and the location of the button makes it easy to screw or unscrew with one hand in either "gun" or "screwdriver" position. My only real complaint is there isn't a clip anywhere to store another bit, and the bit isn't a combo dual-ended bit either, so the flathead and P1/P0 philips bits we have to carry around invariably get misplaced.Note: Apparently Black + Decker changed this same Li2000 model from "Type 2" to "Type 3". This new "Type 3" appears to be slightly lighter, and the charging plug is now larger, with a little metal piece to keep it snug. I never noticed the "Type 2" version charger plug to not be perfectly snug, so not sure why this change was made - it does make it annoying that our shop now has 8 of these, and the new 3 have different charging plugs :/

I have a m12 impact driver that I use for automotive work-- would there any use to also get one of these?
@FixitBongbong
@FixitBongbong 4 года назад
Hey there! I would say it all depends on what kind of automotive work you plan on doing more of. I think this screw driver is perfect for interior/panel/trim work. Basically things where you really don't need or want to exert any significant torque to fasteners due to the risk of breakage etc. I would have loved this way back when I was a mobile electronics installer. I few months ago another viewer made a comment saying that if I had the m12 impact then I could just replace this tool.. so I'm curious myself and have yet to review it. Without ever have used the impact.. I would imagine the biggest benefit to this tool is the ability to manually turn the tool to tighten or loosen fasteners, not sure the impact can do that. Overall I'd imagine better control with this over an impact.. but I'd like to get the impact next. Whether or not you need this guy? That'll depend on the kind of work you do. Thanks for watching!

Your makita stripped screws because electronic clutches don't work. Brushless downside.

@@FixitBongbong yep! I got it out by pulling out the chuck and then wrapping a zip tie underneath it to hold it up and then the bit came out easily.

To much Cash, rather get the bosch go

I'll have to check that one out! Just glancing at it I think one benefit the Milwaukee might have is a more compact overall length due to the pistol grip. That might make it more useful in tight spaces? Can you tell me if the Bosch Go has a sprag clutch that allows the user to break fasteners loose with the tool manually then use the motor? Thanks for watching and the feedback!!
