That’s a Band File, been asking for Milwaukee to come out with a cordless version for a long time, have had a corded one for years. Great tool for Metal work, provides access to hard to reach areas. Need a quality Abrasive Band with suitable grit and a ballsy tool to drive it for best results. Maybe this will will give incentive for Big Red to come out with a dedicated tool. Nice job there, Crazy Mike.

I did the same thing about two months ago to mine vince. I love it, now I'm waiting for a deal on the cut off so I don't have to switch back to my cut off.

Cool idea. Body guys use this tool (air version) for grinding spot welds when panel removal is required. Pricey conversion though. God bless, stay well and blessed Christmas.

I did the conversion too and don’t regret spending the money. I use my finger sander for automotive repair. My air hoses lay on the ground and get covered in dirt and oil, so dragging them through a clean car cabin to use an air tool is asking for trouble. It’s a kick in the teeth to buy a $100 tool and spend another $130 to build it right. I took my modified Milwaukee tool to tool fair and showed them what’s up. All three “reps” were pissed because everyone around me watching the show said I wanna preorder one of those. I also sat down with a franchise owner for local tool trucks, and asked if they would help push the build. The response from Milwaukee American was a load of crap. To paraphrase what they said, “our consumer development team does not see a high enough demand to warrant building this tool”. I replayed “you should trade in that college degree for a gold star because you just threw your money away. I didn’t say build this tool. I said build this kit and sell the tool as a multi tool with different attachments! Cabinet makers and tile layers would kill for this mod.” No reply

I bought the cut off tool hoping to do this mod for coping crown mouldings. But just bought the m12 angle die grinder instead and it’s WAY easier for coping with the 2” discs.

This is actually an amazing conversion for those already invested in the Milwaukee tool line. For those DIYers looking for a similar option that are Ryobi users, check out - The Ryobi One cordless power file (tool only). While heavier and less ergonomic, it does perform well and comes in at around $75-130 depending where you can find it. Tool# PSD101B it can be hard to find.

this is a awesome mod to the cut off tool. Once I get Milwaukee M12 I would love that! My friends wood like that because they use that sharpen their paint scrapers and are cary around this big sander that is corded, they also do trim so Perfect! Hit the like button!! Its nice to have but you would have to dedicate a tool. So now u have to have 2, 3in cut off tools, an $80 harbor freight air sanding strip tool...and $49.50 for this guy to tell you how to put it all together... Nea I'm good.

You can also attach the Central machinery file belt sander for only around $30 bucks

I’d have one of those belt sanders in order so fast it would make your head spin. I work as an institutional locksmith and we use similar corded models to open up strikes a tad to allow the door to latch while waiting on proper frame repair. Being able to skip looking for an outlet would make this an instant buy.

@vcg construction Vince i put a 3 inch dremel wood and plastic blade on it as and use it in electrical to zip fern stripes at top of block walls where skill saw won't fit because of 2×4 capping or pitch

I did this too love it. I used a harbor freight sander as a sacrifice mine was only $30

I use my M18 FUEL Multi-tool for coping trim. Less mess/dust.

I use air powered dynafiles at work all the time. I'd buy this so fast.

I have this in a corded version (Wen Variable Speed 2 Amp Detailing File Sander). Great little tool!

Milwaukee should make an m12 one. makita just released their 18v version. Btw the cut off tool needs a gen2, its gutless.

That would also be good for some metal work. Love the concept and I have plenty of things that would work with. Only issue i have is I would have to buy both tools.

Hell yea....I actually have the 3/8"x13 version that I ordered on eBay from mike, awesome conversion....use it very regularly in the collision industry to remove factory welds to.replace welded on panels and prep/grind down welds before paint etc. I'm blown away that milwaukee hasn't released their own version or offered to license it from mike. Shoot, even ingersoll rand offers a cordless belt sander along with a few other tools milwaukee needs to get on board with ASAP.

Ingersoll rand has a 12v band file for $175 tool only or $250 for the kit with 2 batteries...

Coping with a flap disk on a grinder is the best way IMO

in the first videos i watched i was thinking this guy is working for milwaukee from all the product he was showing off, then after watching more videos i do have to agree that they do make some great tools...too bad in eastern europe they are double the price...and we probably only get wat does not make inspection for US and west EU :))) "never pay full price for tools"! :))

Let’s see, no eye protection, no dust mask while sanding, use of modified tools not verified by an engineer...the safety people at my job would have a field day with you guys...lol. All kidding aside this is a fantastic idea and very useful. Wouldn’t be surprised if Milwaukee (or better yet Ryobi) made one next year.

Awesome idea, but expensive once you factor in all the extra parts needed. $130 tool, $50 adapter, $80 HF sander. Hopefully Milwaukee makes a dedicated tool like this.

What's the power like on this thing? Cut off tool says 20k rpms does that convert directly to the belt? Cause most air belt Sanders are around 20k rpms so it'd be pretty comparable in power. We use belt Sanders for deburring at work what kind of run time could you get out of one of these?

Can you adjust the angle of the belt?

Can you use the cut off tool without the guard on?

I wonder how long until Milwaukee comes out with either a dedicated sander, or an easy attachment kit/set with the disc as well as this belt, and maybe even a few more attachments. I've used a belt sander in the auto body sector, and definitely could have used it in the trades arena.

The link for the adapter tool is incorrect in this video. It’s for a 3/8 not a half inch adapter. I am going back-and-forth with the eBay seller to correct the situation. Please make a note of this.

Okay , Vinny what is the trade off from the 18 volt line up to the 12 volt line up , is Milwaukie have some kind of adapter so the batteries of the 18 can be used with the 12 volt tools ? or vise versa ?

Harbor freight sells a cheap electric bandsander for like $30 I wonder if that tool could be sacrificed and save $50

Collins coping foot for a jig saw would be faster and cheeper... this type of sander is for auto body not woodworking. Most auto body shops have an air compressor nearby
