I’m late to this video but have had this tool for a few months now. My main purpose for this is cutting off bolts and screws that are too long. Rebuilt a gate once and the only screws I had were too long. Was able to cut off all protruding screws flush to the gate. Tool saved my work a few times.

I recently started a contract involving plumbing roughly 80 new apartments being installed in an old high rise building. For every drain and vent that I have to core drill between floors (8-10 inches of concrete), I also have to cut out that section of steel tracking and this little tool has become my new best friend for that. At first we were stuck using tin snips and a multi tool to make the first cut (what an ungodly sound that is), and then scoring the other side with a razor and just bending it til it broke free. A decently lengthy and noisy process. Now I can just mark my lines around the hole and zip right through with this little grinder. Love the channel Vince!

Vince, while making a living as a dealership technician the air powered version of the 3" cut off tool was invaluable. It was used for exhaust clamps, hangers, shortening fasteners and body sheet metal fabrication. I think Milwaukee has a home run here. They have added greater flexibility to the cut off tool simply by adding a shoe, dust collection and a variety of blade options. I can now use it in my remodel trade and mechanical work all without the hassle of an air hose.

Perfect tool for guys who cut tiles, you could cut out an area of existing floor tiles and install a decorative tile piece. Or even adding decorative pieces to back splashes while keeping the dust to a minimum with the vac attachment. Plus it looks alot safer than full sized grinder wheel that let's face it, is many times overkill for applications that people use them for on job sites. Now I want one just because I like likes to cut shits 🙂 They need to figure out a quick detach for the disks though 🤙🏻

Yeah, i fully agree with you. If you own a decent/good angle grinder (i have the 60volt flexvolt, and a corded paddle switch Dewalt) adding this tool is super helpful, the reverse direction ability and the sheer small size and low weight to this tool make it great for any time you encounter a tight situation where access is the main concern. I wish it had a belt hook like the rivet gun, for zipping off nails or cutting a screw or bolt in a tight spot where a hacksaw blade is your best option. If you are able to fit this tool where you need to be to make the cut (i took my guard off completely to make it as small as possible) then i cant imagine wanting to cut it by hand over this. If this didn't fit i would try my 12volt bosch dremel tool (GRO actual name they gave it) with a 1.25" cutoff wheel (dremel brand ez loc quick release) if not that then a 12volt reciprocating saw (i own the bosch 12v) if i bought the m12 i would definitely get the FUEL version. Having all the big 18v/20v + 60v tools are fantastic for all cutting applications. Unless there is some reason why it won't fit into the spot you need access to. Thus opening the door for so many awesome m12, makita 12v CXT, and bosch 12v tools. (Dewalt only recently started making good 12volt tools). My favorite tools from Milwaukee are the 12 volt tools, they have the most diverse lineup of 12 volt tools, i.e. m12 rocket, grinder, rivet gun, bandsaw, temp gun, FUEL installation drill/driver, but they still dont have some of the cool 12volt Bosch and makita tools. Namely bosch 12v router & planer, GRO (i think is better then the m12 version), makita 12v green cross line laser, carpet cutter, radio

Laminate Flooring. This tool, much like the Makita 3-1/8" Mini Circular is a GREAT tool for a guy like me. I do a TON of engineered hardwood/laminate flooring. Thinner planks. And the great benefit is the ability to stay close to the work area. Theres no need to get up and walk out to the chop saw etc. Whatever cutting tool you may be needing. It is much quicker and more time efficient. Just having a smaller tool like this for thinner applications is a huge plus. What I like more about the 3" Milwaukee cut off is the size in comparison to the Makita 3 -1/8" mini circular. The Makita handle is much larger and with the battery adds even more length. This is a tool I have been eyeing for a long time but I'm on a totally different platform. So is it worth buying the tool, plus batteries and charger, for 1 tool...

People hate on this tool so UNFAIRLY! This is a GREAT TOOL! I have used this tool from demo to finish work and on everything from laminate flooring, metal, metal pipe, TILE, drywall, pvc, cement, cement board, vinyl siding & trim, countertops, copper, gutters to wood! .... and YES, I HAVE cut brick, cinder blocks and landscape pavers with THIS! It's great for notching or the like. Yes a grinder is faster and more capable but it's also a lot more to handle and not as precise if you need something fairly intricate cut. It's a great option to have on the trailer and has bailed me out many times on oddball cuts and nagging having the "proper" tool on site. It rides permanently in my truck box so it's always with me and there only a few tools that get that honor. I think people that talk trash on this tool are just showing their honest ignorance as soon as they open their mouth about it. Don't believe them! I'd buy this again in a HEARTBEAT!

So I got one of these, and then when on eBay and purchased a little conversing kit that uses the arm off of my pneumatic band file, and now I have a 2 in 1 cordless hand held cut off tool / band file. I've also found that you can still cut larger pavers by using this tool to scor the brick then tap it with a hammer to get a decent break.

We have soffcut early entry saws for cutting concrete and they run in reverse like you demonstrated the second time. Along with the bottom shoe, it helps to keep the cut from chipping or spalling. We can cut concrete one hour after finishing. So that’s an acceptable way to use this tool, in reverse. As a matter of fact, I wish my grinders had a forward and reverse. Thanks for the video gang!

Yes, it is just like a circular saw, you gotta run it in reverse and it is even safer, as it wont pull you into the cut.

Great tool for certain applications, would be great for HVAC duct work, not so much for PVC, Milwaukee makes a PVC shear tool which works great for PVC up to 2".

I got this thinking I could use it like a trim saw...then found out I couldn't find any toothed saw blades. Then I needed to cut off a piece of a duct, then a corner of a tile, then .... Handy little tool. Still looking for Milwaukee or Ryobi to come out with a good cordless trim saw like the DeWalt Atomic circular saw. I would get the DeWalt, but trying not to get into another battery system.

I'm a Milwright I would like to try it for installations and refits of equipment. I think it would be useful. Sometimes a grinder is just too big.

Brian, glad you mentioned reversing blade for dust, as that was what I do & was gonna say here 🤣. Really does work well for plumbing, hvac, & electrical work, when can’t get a grinder in those awkward small spaces. Great job Vince & Brian. Cheers👍🏻

Great for cutting into junction boxes and control cabinets. Combine with the rack a tiers magnetic dust bag for the inside. Disco.

I was quite surprised at how well it worked my only concern is would this tool be worthwhile having in my tool box because are now I use my makita grinder it’s corded and has 13,000 rpm’s. I’ve cut one inch plate steel for certification plates for welding and even at 45 degrees cutting I had no problem whatsoever.

080821/2338h PST Very unique way of demonstrating a tool ! I bought Milwaukee Cutoff tool and will start a few DIY jobs. I also bought a Pneumatic band saw attachment, that with an adapter will make the cutoff tool to perform as band saw. Thanks guys. Take care and be safe. 73s…
