Exploring the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 17" Dual Battery String Trimmer (3006-22)
For professional landscapers and serious DIY enthusiasts, tackling tough trimming jobs often requires a powerful and versatile tool. The Milwaukee M18 FUEL 17" Dual Battery String Trimmer (3006-22) enters the scene as a cordless game-changer, offering exceptional cutting performance without the limitations of gas-powered trimmers.
This in-depth blog post will delve into the key features and benefits of the Milwaukee 3006-22, helping you decide if it's the right string trimmer for you.
Cutting Through the Cordless Revolution:
Unmatched Power: Ditch the gas can and tangled cords! The 3006-22 boasts a POWERSTATE™ brushless motor that delivers power comparable to gas-powered trimmers. This allows you to rip through thick weeds, heavy brush, and even small saplings with ease, ensuring efficient completion of demanding trimming tasks.
Dual Battery System: This innovative trimmer utilizes a dual-battery system, providing extended runtime and tackling even the most extensive trimming jobs on a single charge. The two M18™ REDLITHIUM™ HIGH OUTPUT™ XC8.0 batteries offer best-in-class performance and durability.
Performance Features for Professional Results:
17" Cutting Swath: The 3006-22 features a substantial 17-inch cutting swath, allowing you to cover more ground in less time, significantly improving your trimming efficiency. This is especially beneficial for large yards, landscaping projects, or clearing overgrown areas.
Variable Speed Control: Adjust the trimming speed to match the task at hand. Choose a higher speed for powering through thick growth or a lower speed for precise edging and delicate trimming around flower beds.
Easy Load Trimmer Head: Refilling the trimmer line is a breeze with the easy-load trimmer head. This allows you to quickly get back to work without wasting time wrestling with complicated reloading mechanisms.
Designed for User Comfort and Control:
Lightweight Design: Despite its power, the 3006-22 is designed to be lightweight and well-balanced. This reduces user fatigue during extended trimming sessions, allowing you to work comfortably for longer stretches.
Adjustable Handle: The adjustable handle provides a comfortable and customized fit for users of various heights. This ensures optimal control and reduces strain on your arms and back while trimming.
Full Throttle in Under 1 Second: The POWERSTATE™ brushless motor delivers instant power, reaching full throttle in less than one second. This eliminates the lag and waiting time associated with traditional gas-powered trimmers.
Is the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 17" Dual Battery String Trimmer (3006-22) Right for You?
The Milwaukee 3006-22 is a perfect choice for professional landscapers and serious DIY enthusiasts who require a powerful, cordless solution for demanding trimming tasks. Here's why:
Unmatched Cordless Performance: Cut through tough overgrowth and thick weeds with the power of a gas trimmer, but with the freedom and convenience of cordless operation.
Extended Runtime: The dual-battery system ensures you have enough power to complete even the most extensive trimming jobs without interruption.
User-Friendly Features: The easy-load trimmer head, adjustable handle, and lightweight design enhance comfort and streamline the trimming process.
Here are some additional factors to consider:
Battery and Charger: While the kit typically includes two M18™ REDLITHIUM™ HIGH OUTPUT™ XC8.0 batteries and a charger, double-check the specific model you're considering.
Price: The 3006-22 is a professional-grade tool and might be priced higher than some gas-powered trimmers. However, the long-term cost savings on gas and oil, combined with the benefits of cordless operation, can be significant.
Overall, the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 17" Dual Battery String Trimmer (3006-22) is a revolutionary cordless powerhouse that delivers professional-grade cutting performance. If you're looking to ditch the gas and experience the future of trimming technology, the Milwaukee 3006-22 is a perfect choice!

I own a lawn care company. I use the qucklock trimmer. Works great, I use it on turtle, and it has plenty of power in rabbit when needed. More power than my FS111, and lighter. Can get about an hour out of an 8.0HD. I have the single battery blower, and its okay.. I should have gotten the dual battery. But it comes with the 6.0s and mine came with an 8.0.

I am very happy with the Milwaukee single battery string trimmer and blower. They both perform well with plenty of power. I can string trim my small yard and blow the clippings off the sidewalk and driveway and only be down to 3 lights with my 8ah battery. The leaf blower for me is able to blow all my leaves even when a little wet. Much cheaper too!

Own the old non quick lock and one with the quick lock. Both do a great job! Never needed more power. With two batteries on this model this could possibly be used for lawm services. I can chew a whole 9amp up while doing my lawn. Otherwise, I have no need for a heavier tool. $399/$699 is expensive. Great review as always.

Thanks for another detailed review! You didnt want to string trim some snow? I would've tried it. The sound this makes reminds me very much of the Ryobi/AEG motor sound and the shape of the motor housing is now more similar than the single battery Milwaukee units. Resembles the older Echo 58V made by the same company too.

This should be a powerhead, not a string trimmer. At this price, you should be able to use attachments.

I disagree. This is way more robust being a dedicated string trimmer, instead of having silly attachments. This is for serious work. If you want to use attachments get the single battery trimmer. It’ll be lighter also.

Recently bought the Milwaukee M18 brushcutter, it cuts fine, but run time is poor! Why isn't the brushcutter duel battery, but the trimmer is? Haven't even tried the grass blade, run time will probably be 5 mins!!! I do like the convenience of battery powered equipment, but always end up finishing the job with my Husqvarna 535LK!

But…………..why? Didn’t Milwaukee bash dewalt for the 60v platform, claiming “ you only need one battery and 18v”?? Now they have a bunch of two battery tools copying Makita . Great channel…and why are Milwaukee 2 battery tools not called 36v ? You can’t run them on one battery. So Milwaukee has a 12v, 18v , 36v, and 72v line of tools. And dewalt has a 12v, 18v( 20v) and 60v line .

$700 for 2016 technology?! I assume the Milwaukee batteries are underpowered, thus needing two, resulting in a 50% increase in weight. Ouch. That's going to punish the operator. EGO sells their simplified Commercial carbon fiber model for as little as $299. PS: Excellent unboxing and review!

Well by assuming you definitely made an ass out of you. Their standard 18 volt batteries no different than any other 18 volt battery platform they already have a single battery string trimmer this just turns it into a 36 volt string trimmer. Not to mention at that price you're getting the tool you're getting batteries You're getting the charger and it's brand new so of course we're going to have the brand new pricing
@JT-lq4yd
@JT-lq4yd 8 месяцев назад
They are just run of the mill batteries, nothing special and every one else uses them. The problem is getting more HP out of the motor with only 18v, hence the 2 batteries in this unit.

I have the first ego carbon fiber shaft trimmer with the auto load head. The auto load head is very inconsistent. I normally have to take the damn thing apart which drives me crazy as loading the line is the worst part about using a trimmer. I have started to switch over to Milwaukee but I believe ego definitely has the battery design over Milwaukee but Milwaukee has the instant power not one second delay like ego and higher build quality. Now if ego designs a strictly commercial product lineup with high quality build, I might switch back. Milwaukee prices are super high but I'm hoping they build a commercial high quality lineup as well. If this is Milwaukee's commercial lineup then they definitely have to do better carbon fiber shaft and lighten this thing up with one single battery pack or dual lightweight long run time batteries.

Im gonna say it how it is the regular m18 fuel quick lock was arguably the most powerful battery string trimmer on the market it was more than powerful enough to do just about anything while being lighter and more battery efficient than this one this trimmer doesn't really have a place in the market I'd recommend just sticking whith the regular m18 quick lock if you use milwaukee

@WorkshopAddict 8 месяцев назад
This is just a guess - but notice the size difference of the gearbox in my video between the quick lock and the dual battery. Milwaukee beefed up the gearbox for the extra power. This might tear up the smaller stuff they already have out. So rather than making a new line of attachments, they make dedicated tools aimed at pros.

I love the performance of my Milwaukee Quik-Lock, but it overheats when using the string trimmer before I can deplete an 8ah battery. I'm not runnning continuously at full throttle. Doesn't happen with the other attachments. I don't live in a hot climate. I invested in other Milwaukee OPE, but decided to supplant with another brand's higher voltage OPE. They don't leave me in a bind.

This makes ZERO sense to me. The one battery string trimmer worked fine on small yards, but for large yards gas is MUCH better. Now to compete with a gas trimmer I need to spend $400 on this and carry around SIXTEEN POUNDS for an hour while I use it. Just seems stupid. My $200 Echo trimmer is a beast, it’s light, and I use about $20 a year in 2 cycle mix and I don’t have to worry about batteries. And I love Milwaukee.
