We take a look at the Milwaukee M18 FUEL 7-1/4" circular saw. On the M18 platform this saw is a beast. Good cutting performance and heavy duty as expected from Milwaukee. Although requiring 12.0 HD high output batteries for best performance it has the power and ability to cut through material quickly.
At least in the short runs it can keep up with the higher voltage saws in cutting speeds.
Designed for the carpenter, remodeler and general contractor, the M18 FUEL 7-1/4” Circular Saw from Milwaukee delivers the power of a 15A corded saw, cuts faster than a 15A corded saw and gives users up to 750 cuts per charge. The POWERSTATE Brushless Motor provides 5,800 RPM and higher speeds under load for corded cutting performance. REDLINK PLUS intelligence ensures maximum performance and protection from overload, overheating and over discharge. The M18 REDLITHIUM HIGH OUTPUT HD12.0 battery delivers unmatched run-time in all applications. All magnesium guards and shoe delivers extreme durability for jobsite conditions. A built-in rafter hook offers quick and easy storage and an electric brake stops the blade quickly after cuts are complete for maximum productivity.
Magnesium shoe and guards for maximum durability
Integrated rafter hook for easy storage between cuts
LED light for increased accuracy and visibility
Integrated dust port on guard and included vac adapter
Electric brake for stopping blade after trigger is released
2-1/2 in. of cut depth
Compatible with all M18 batteries and tools
If you buy it as tool only:
Includes: 2732-20 7-1/4 in. circular saw, blade, wrench
If you buy the kit, it will include a bag, 12.0 hd high output battery, and charger

Nice in depth review, I usually don’t leave comments, but this was a really good review that I was thoroughly impressed with. You did a good job documenting all the little things with this saw, and I’ve made my decision as to whether or not I will be purchasing it. Well done Thanks you!

I have this saw. Good power. Truthfully I like most things about it. However, this is a premium saw and Milwaukee needs to step up the quality of the bevel and depth markings. Also I’ve had to repair the depth locking mechanism. I also own two other older Milwaukee circular saws. This one definitely has more power but, for ripping and cross cutting 2x material…… all of them work. I sell all my tools every 3-4 years. I maintain them meticulously so selling is never an issue. Basically, I clean them up, if applicable, install a new blade, then put them on the market for about 50% of the most current tools when purchased at Home Depot or Amazon. I’m looking closely at the new Makita 40 amp tools. So far they seem to be a premium quality tool from the reviews but available and variety isn’t where I need it yet.

If you can live without the bag, it was 209, a few days ago. I couldn't pull the trigger. Not too sure about right bladed saw.

These saws are brilliant, we have 4 of them and run them off 8ah batteries for general use and a 12ah when doing heavy ripping. Few things, the trigger safety breaks(sort of) after a tonne of use(I mean a daily tool for a year and a half) and won’t depress on 1 side so I stuck a nail in it to keep it depressed. Then depth locking lever often does become loose after time and will loosen off but I’ve been able to adjust it. Depth gauge guide itself isn’t really an issue because whenever I need to cut to a depth I usually mark a piece and set the depth to that based off the blade. For the bevel I don’t have any problems without a positive stop, even just today I was cutting a roof out and changing from 45 to 0.

@@4thewinak also the 6AH will provide a tonne of power but die really quick vs the 8ah will provide enough power for an extended period of time. 12ah does both but makes the saw heavy. I’d say at a rough guess an 8ah can do probably 250-30 cuts before it’ll go to 1 bar.

@@madchippyproductions9618 the only downside not by much the 8ah is slitly less powerfull compared to the 6ah
@madchippyproductions9618

@@OUTILSCLIPSQC in terms of min/max yes the 6 can put out more power but in terms what is enough to get the job done the 8 is perfect, I think in a heavy day of cutting I’ll go through 2.5 maybe 3 8ah batteries, with 6ah it’d be more like 3.5-4

Informative video. That said it would probably be an hour in length if you spoke at a "normal" speed.

Thanks for the review, very helpful. Was there any test done for compatibility with guides in the market?

Its impresive to me because this saw is only 18 volt and beat or equal the higher voltage of the other big brand no thermal issue wow

Exactly! The m18 batteries are well engineered to power some high demand tools.

I waffled on buying it for that reason and the blade right.

I would say that the only fail Milwaukee had on this one Was the depth locking handle! For some reason it always keep hitting the material no matter what ! That part of the saw kept me from using it as much as I like to Just be aware of that issue

@@leanin01 before i was a huge flexvolt user but after try milwaukee like it better the saw cut well .. well balance very powerfull i would say between the gen 1 flex and the gen 2 .. positive stop not a big deal .. but shes powerhungry and if you buy it you would need high outpout baterie otherwise you not gonna cut long before the baterie overheat

I prefer having no positive stop when i frame or decking i often do weird bevel and i found this plate to be perfect because i can clearly see the number on it ,i have not found any other saw with such a nice plate, name it ive try it this saw might not be the fastest cutting saw but its a very nice saw overrall. Dewalt posiive stop are annoying and the makita one are niccer but whith the xgt plate its impossible to set the saw annywhere from the positive stop otherwise you don't see any number on the scale

I just bought one of these with 6.0 ah battery. I am concerned about it being a blade right. I haven't even pulled it out of the box yet. Will it work with it Kreg Rip Cut jig?

@4thewinak

same here. Milwaukee males some great tools. Will have to get the rear handle XGT with a high amp hour battery and test with that. In theory the milwaukee should be able to generate more torque bc of the amps being pushed, where as the XGT would get more runtime bc of the higher voltage efficiency.

Do not wear gloves operating a circular saw. You could lose a hand very very fast!!
