Back early April I did my own comparison: 9 month old Milwaukee mid torque Fuel impact, 5 month old 2980-20 Fuel 6 inch grinder, and a brand new 2825-20 Fuel Quik-Lok string trimmer that came with both 8ah HO and 5ah extended NEW batteries. Also had a couple 6ah HO batteries and one 3ah HO that I got after Christmas on sale. Got my neighbor involved in the evaluation, since he likes his Dewalt & Ryobi battery tools. Didn't matter which amp/hour capacity, each produced a noticeable increase in perceived torque in free hand startup and in actual use with intended materials. The runtime wasn't equal since they were different capacities. We were judging what we felt was actual work power. Then he brought over Dewalt old style 4ah with 18650s, and his "new style" 4ah running the 21700s - Neither of us saw any difference in the power output. Tried my new Dewalt 6ah 21700 unit-nope. Felt pretty much the same as the battery packs running 18650s. 🤔 So what is Milwaukee doing differently than Dewalt with the upgraded 21700 packs?

DeWalt's battery ranges are a little confusing because they have a few different battery types that are designed to give more power to certain tools. For example, their FLEXVOLT Advantage tools are designed to get a higher boost in power when used with the FLEXVOLT batteries instead of the regular ones. Depending on what tool you were powering that could be why you didn't see a significant jump in power.

Can you do something similar with dewalts batteries. Milwaukee made it easy to figure out which battery has 21700 cell or 18650. No clue wich of my flexvolt batteries has either type of cells.
@jamesmocharski4803
@jamesmocharski4803 3 года назад
Honestly, that is one of the things that influenced my decision to choose Milwaukee when I was trying to decide on a professional platform to invest in when it was time to begin upgrading my arsenal this past year. DeWalt makes some great tools, but the model names and numbers, the various lines, between the 20 Volt Max, The Atomic, 20V Max XR, The Flexvolt, Flexvolt Advantage…etc. are a bit too confusing for the average consumer to quickly make heads or tales of. It seemed to me that if I need an Excel Spreadsheet with pages of data just to differentiate between the characteristics of different models within the same brand platform, that was going to cause me waaay more consternation than it was going to be worth. I feel like Milwaukee Marketing got that part right. They have Brushed, Brushless, and Fuel Brushless. And that same basic framework follows whether you are talking about M18 or M12. I will say that the Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3 thing can get a bit confusing sometimes, but there is usually a corresponding change to the model number that can then be used to help identify the various iterations. Great video. Keep up the good work!

Your Skidmore tester measures in PSI. Could you please give a factor for converting the PSI rate to FT LBS torque? Thanks
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool Год назад
Hey Mark! I had to do a bit of a deeper dive into this, and have come up with two potential answers for you. One of them, apparently, is that it's not possible to convert PSI to ft lbs, as one is a measurement of pressure and the other one of total energy, and the other is that 1PSI is apparently equal to 144 pound-force/square foot, so you may be able to do a calculation based off that (if 1PSI is 144 lbf/sqft, 2PSI is 288, 10PSI 1440, etc). I hope that helps!

What's the best Milwaukie battery to get for the 2352-20 M18 stick light?? Thanks
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool 2 года назад
M18 Lights don't really benefit from High Output batteries, it's all about Amp Hours and longevity so that really depends on you. Do you want lightweight and compact, 2.0Ah or 3.0Ah? Or Mid weight and longer runtime, 5.0Ah to 8.0Ah? Stick light is meant to be task lighting you can easily carry, probably wouldn't be great with the 12.0Ah monster just for sheer size but again up to you!

Is there a safety feature that protect overcharging i always mess up my batteries
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool 2 года назад
If I am understanding the question correctly they do not have a feature extend the life of the battery through the charger. This in large part due to the fact that often time you will want a battery to be fully charged when taking the battery to a job. What the charger does do however is turn off automatically when the battery has reached the proper full charge. This also works for the extended capacity batteries as well.

Does anyone know why here in the UK we have a 5.5ah/99wh highoutput battery?
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool Год назад
Different power requirements! It turns out American appliances and European appliances run on different voltage levels; this side of the pond, our tools run on 110V while you guys run on 220V. Since you need just a tad more power, battery guidelines are just slightly different. As to why appliances have different power requirements between countries, well that's above this marketing man's pay grade, you'll probably have to take that up with someone in authority. What's ol' Chaz up to these days? Perhaps we could swing round his for a cuppa and get this sorted!

What I dont understand is that the High output 6ah and 8ah are identical in size, same weight ( however when I weighed them the 6ah was slightly heavier) and lastly they both use the identical cells (21700) so how can the 8ah battery possibly be better than the 6?
@OhioPowerTool
@OhioPowerTool 2 года назад
The 8.0Ah uses higher quality 21700 cells so they didn't have to drastically increase the size/weight of the 8.0Ah with the power increase! The 6Ah runs on Samsung T30 and the 8Ah runs on Samsung T40, so the 6Ah gives more power and the 8Ah has a long runtime.
