***Make sure you tighten the tensioner screw first, then tighten the nut. Thats why that didn't seem to do too much and might help with the chain being loose more often than it should. Appreciate the people that pointed that out.

Try tightening the chain correctly and it might work better

To adjust chain tension: Loosen nut, turn adjusting screw, re-tighten nut as the LAST step. Leaking bar oil: store attachment in the horizontal position with the cap loose enough to allow for expansion and contraction of air.

I've heard the same thing about the bar oil a couple times now. I think I'm going to clean it up really good and test that out.

Literally just topped 15 feet off a laurel hedge about 50-60 foot long all with this exact pole saw. I had the chain pop off 2 times the entire time and that was on me bc i didnt tighten it when chain got stretched. Other then that then that thing was flawless!

You did not use the adjuster when you tighten the chain you just pulled the bar out. I wonder why it get loose

Stihl premium bar a chain oil and storing the attachment vertically. Works great for me.

Tip - you ain’t use the chain tension screw once loosen the cover use th flat head screwdriver on you tool and tighten the screw next to the cover nut then re tighten the cover Tip 2- once you are done with the saw open the oil cover and release pressure from tank. Replace lid. The tank gets hot and builds pressure. My old Husqavarna use to do that and after taking it to the shop the tech told me and never leaked on me again.

Thanks for the tips! I forgot about the tensioner when I made the video, but yes that makes a big difference. I'm going to do a follow-up at some point and test different ways to keep the bar oil leak to a minimum. I've been told a few times the lid is the key, so you're probably on point with your tip.

I would never loan this guy anything. I have one of these units and love it including trimming oak trees.

I saw a post on reddit (for the chainsaw) where they say to open the bar oil reservoir to relieve the pressure. Apparently that will help minimize the amount of oil coming out.

Thanks I hadn't heard that yet! I'll give that a try.

A pole saw has its uses, but the new telescoping pole PRUNER/LOPPER has some real advantages for limbs up to 1¾" diameter. It cuts through a branch in 2 seconds or less, has no vibration to tire your hands and arms, there's no sawdust to get in your eyes, and there is no risk of any dangerous kickback. All of this adds up to a tool that, on the smaller branches, can make about twice as many cuts per hour as a pole saw. I have seen the wisdom and profitability of owning both tools.
@poefamilyhomestead
@poefamilyhomestead 10 месяцев назад
I'll have to check that out. I have a lot of fruit trees to maintain, so that sounds like a good tool for the job.

Because the bar is straight in line with the pole, you can't cut downwards onto a high branch. This allows the branch to pinch the bar as you're cutting and leave your saw trapped high overhead. It's a royal pain.
@BrendonGillespie
@BrendonGillespie 11 месяцев назад
If it's a thicker branch just cut below and then above it so it won't pinch the bar.

You aren't adjusting the chain tension correctly at all. There is a screw that tightens that and your leaving it loose before you crank the nut down and it will damage the threads on the worm gear and be loose every time.
@poefamilyhomestead
@poefamilyhomestead 11 месяцев назад
Thanks for pointing that out. It may work a little better if I tightened it correctly.

I have the stihl ht250 it isn't more powerful than the milwaukee pole saw not even close I have both the milwaukee and the ht250 the ht250 bogs down alot. The milwaukee is definitely more powerful and has far more torque!

I'm sorry the picture for the video portraying bending the extension over your knee was no where in the video and was misleading, as was the title... I don't know if i fault YT for this, as there's been many times a video caption catches my eye, only to find that it wasn't in the video.... You don't use the exclamation followed by a question mark unless there's urgency in it's use and does not go well with my previous statement...

I have both Milwaukee and 2 different Stihl head units, all 3 leak oil and chain gets loose
@poefamilyhomestead
@poefamilyhomestead 11 месяцев назад
Ya, I mean the chain isn't really an issue. I just find myself tightening much more often than the Stihl. Same with the bar oil, it's going to happen to an extent, but the Milwaukee leaks excessively in comparison to the Stihl. This thing leaves puddles.

@@poefamilyhomestead I haven’t used my Milwaukee as much yet, I actually drain my older Stihl because it would totally leak out over a month, bad design on both IMO

The Milwaukee pole saw look fine too except the person using it. It seems like he lost his wrench for tensioning the blade.

Can you not replace the reservoir?
@poefamilyhomestead
@poefamilyhomestead 11 месяцев назад
Good idea. I can replace it, but I really shouldn't have to replace parts on a new tool. Then the question is if the replacement reservoir is better than the original. When I get some spare time I may replace that and see if it fixes the problem.

Improper use of the tool and clickbait thumbnail is 100 percent user fault here sorry, you need to man up learn admit your faults instead of blaming milwaukee

You can't blame the tool if you are a tool and don't know how to work the tool. 😮‍💨🙄 i have used many brands and styles.... they ALL lose chain tension and i have great to meet one worth using that doesn't leak. Quit pissing n moaning n try to read the manual if it's a tool you haven't lived behind half your life. Theta nothing wrong with the m18 pole saw..... I've used 8 or more units owned by different contractors and they've all worked great.
