I got the Milwaukee cordless buff, and I love it. It does drain the battery a bit, but so handy not to have cords running everywhere and don't need to worry about the cord hitting the panels.
I’m not sure if they’re available in Australia but in the US Milwaukee offers bigger batteries with different cells that run significantly cooler. I believe they’re called “High output.” They really make a big difference with this tool. We use one at our shop all day long with no overheating issues. Having multiple batteries is still necessary though because of how fast the buffer drains them.
Great review, I've just bought one of these because I'm heading on the Fuel tool route, if it aint the best I can live with that, its good to go cordless I will be building up a few batteries as I get other tools
Yes, totally. Even a handy one to have around the workshop. I don't regret buying but it's obviously not going to be for everyone being that it's not cheap.
Bigger batteries actual don't overheat near as easily. The discharge is split across more cells and there is much more thermal mass, so they won't overheat like 5.0 Ah. I highly recommend them and not dismiss them, if you can.
Thanks for the review. Im running the M18 1/2 impact and the charger is a bit slow but perhaps this is a good thing, its properly draining then charging. Nothing worst then blasting the batteries on a quick charger, they will deteriorate overtime quicker this way.
I got the dewalt with knock off batteries. Rotary, tool only, around $220, purchased, Two, 20v, 6mah batteries for $60. Love it! Got the orbital also. Around $250, tool only. Also love it! I also have a flex orbital, cordless, and personally prefer the dewalt.
Those are their base model battery meant for drivers and light demands of power. XC batteries run cooler, avoiding the overheating from base model batteries on tools with more power demands. High demand or HD batteries run high powered tools over long periods of time ( polishers, leaf blowers ect.). High Output or HO batteries run high powered tools with bursts of power over shorter periods of time (miter saws, pipe cutters, ect.) Run the proper batteries and you will likely see an improvement, as the 2 base model batteries you used were supplied with a drill and driver set, 2 tools that aren't going to be used for long continuous periods of time where as your polisher will be used for long periods of time.
This drill and impact does not have any hydraulics in them (ive opened mine before). Milwaukees hydraulic ones are called Surge. But you should probably be glad, seeing as hydraulic impacts does not increase the longevity, it decreases it. Theyre just meant to be more silent :)
That was the review i wanted to see. Its made my mind up if i should go battery power and i think the amount of work I'm doing and the fact that i need something to bring the paint back up after a 1500/2000 wet flat, i don't think this is going to be good enough. It may be good for a second polisher for smaller jobs or areas where i don't want the cable hitting the car but it wont be my first option. The flex look good as well but there double the price lol.
Some nice kit you have there Gunny, I've been toying with getting the small Milwaukee M12 polisher but to use as a sander for small jobs, I currently have the DeWalt cordless drill and angle grinder both of which are great machines, as I have 3 good batteries and a good charger for them it's a shame DeWalt doesn't do a mini buff well I can't find one anyway unless anyone here knows of one. John UK
@@TheGunmanChannel yeah I wish I'd have seen this first lol I was tossed between Milwaukee and Dewalt but went Milwaukee mainly for the other options in the m18 line up. I'm no production shop so it may fit the bill we shall see
You should consider giving the 9 amp hour battery a try... they have more cells in them so each individual cell is stressed less and henceforth they don't overheat as much.. I have the Milwaukee grinder and the five amp hour batteries have overheat issues, never had a problem with the 9.0..
I bought a corded because that's what my boss had and it's the old 20 year old 10 pound loud one. It broke in 6 months so I tried my coworkers cordless but the battery wasn't enough for me. I loved the weight though. I ended up settling with a dewalt corded. Half the price, weight, and noise. One thing I noticed on the cordless milwaukee is don't use the velcro on a wool pad. I kept having it fly off. And I really really wanted to give milwaukee a try. I know they make great products, just didn't seem to have the polisher for me.
Well, I definitely don't regret buying this, it's so convenient but for buff all-overs corded is the way to go. I think I mentioned in this video that I'm going to get the DeWalt corded polisher too, glad to hear it's good.
I used to detail cars in Ford dealership all detailers used Rupes LH22EN and had a spare Dewalt one.It was like using an angle grinder.Wouldn't even take it for free. That is just my experience. Also always wondered how these brands would perform like Metabo or Bosch. My arsenal contains Rupes and Flex and Ingersoll Rand.
I've been using Milwaukee polishers for awhile now, m12 small polisher is perfect for its versatility, definitely worth its money , cant fault it. I've the corded full size one too, its a great machine, its alot quiter than previous polisher I had, it does get mad hot in the summer though. Was toying with getting the cordless one but I also dont have any m18 cells or charger, when you add it all up it's a big outlay for the small benefit. Think I'll wait till there's a discount code to chip the price down. Great review and definitely good to get an honest unbiased opinion. Many thanks mate.👍
I have same polishers as you and in my opinion the flex polisher is far better in build quality, I'm sorry I didn't buy the rotary flex instead. I also have a milwaukee corded buff and it's the best rotary I've ever used.
I’ve used their impact guns and they’re great. I’m sure the buffer is awesome as well but that’s a lot of chee$e to get rid of a chord and remember to charge and manage batteries. A must I guess for a mobile guy.
Awesome 👏 review gunny the machine not bad but the battery 🔋 life could off lasts a little longer to me lol 😂 thanks 🙏 for the review you base it on the advantage and the disadvantage you hit the nail on the head gunny haha 🤣 much love and respect 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤞🤞🤞🤞👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯✨✨✨✨✊✊✊✊✊✊👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
for the german himming and hawing about the european climate come visit northern ontario if you ever would like to go skidooing we are just three hours north of toronto and the difference between southern ontario there and here is about 20 degrees below zero .here in the north it is wool long johns and double socks it is our way of life. hey i like your dedication to the trade lots to learn from .and the people in britain offer a good start also.
Depends on if I plan on using it for long periods, and I don't, and I have 2 batteries already. Nothing to say I can't buy a bigger battery if I think it's needed.
Even through the 5Ah batteries work i would recommend not getting anymore of those and go to a 6Ah, 8Ah, or 12Ah different cell technology thus the rate of discharge is more within tolerance of those batteries not staying it can't happen but for high demand tools it will work way better.. from my experience
Hey gunny hope your doing well.... Have you heard of devilbiss discountinued the pro lite primer and the pro lite and tekna pro lite what are your thoughts one this... I love my tekna now I'm stocking up on parts just so I'm good for my time of painting. Going to buy a couple more before they all gone.
Don't stress mate. They're not discontinued they're rebranding, they're going to be available soon so I'll get some to review. I'll do my best to include all relevant information.
Have a look at this link. Keep in mind you'll need the buff adaptor, email Chris at info@spraygunsdirect.co.uk if you can't find one. Let him know I sent you. www.spraygunsdirect.co.uk/index.php/catalogsearch/result/?q=3m
Not the best buffer/polisher. My speed selector dial broke but I found that happened with our Dewalt corded buffers as well. Even with 2 batteries, I can't really buff the whole side of a car without them dying. I like how it feels in my hands but it just doesn't get the job done like our dewalts. Unfortunately haven't tried any of the other options like the rupes
I use the heat gun everyday for vinyl upholstery repair and you are right it's well below average but as a mobile tech it's so much easier to be cordless. Wish there was a better product
Having a huge adapter for your pad sucks arse. The sound sucks arse. Old corded heavy Rupes can't be beaten, farecla g3 too. Cordless heat gun has shitty air flow. Battery tools have a place , anywhere you can't run a cord.
