My son turns 1 year old this month and as part of my father son tradition with him, I'm going to buy him some tools every birthday. This year, he's got a 1/4" socket set with the foam tray inserts. Next year will be the 1/2" I think - crazy expensive over here in Europe but I want him to have some good quality tools for when he becomes a man.
I did the same with my daughter. She has had her own tool box since she was 2 years old. My wife has pictures of us painting, building a room for us to play Xbox, concrete work, plastering, plumbing, electrical work, working on the family cars and more carpentry than I can remember. [ I am a carpenter ]. WE are getting ready to replace the clutch in my 1969 Camaro soon. she is 16 years old now. I can't think of a better way to spend time with her. And yes, she still has a pink tool box!!! 🤣
@@TheDurbinCompound You’re bitching about the case getting stained with dirt & grime? Seriously!?! Keeping the tools clean is more of a priority than the dam case. Smh...
I’m a machinist at UPRR and I constantly clean my tools because our engines are filthy and I find that Kresto Kwik Wipes will clean almost anything and make it look almost new again. Our Milwaukee impacts are covered in oil, grease, gunk, etc. you get the point but I wipe them down real good with those wipes and it gets more of that stuff off than you’d think!
i have only bought craftsman socket sets from years ago when they were made in USA...since stanley black & decker announced they are opening a factory in fort worth texas to make ratchets, sockets & wrenches i will buy a new set when they come out...i currently have a 170 piece made in USA craftsman set from 2005...i do like those four flat milwaukee set too but have not bought them yet
@@TheDurbinCompound yea it removes all the grime and grit you gotta remember that its use to remove sticky weight film on rims so when applying it to the blow molded case you dont spray the case but spray a rag but dont wipe the milwaukee printing to hard because it will either smear or completely remove the white lettering because its sprayed on unless you dont care about the printing but the box itself will wipe completely clean
Sold one of my snap on socket sets for this. Slowly but surely transitioning to Milwaukee from snap on. I already have their high torque impact and electric ratchet.
@Quickahh do it. Milwaukee tools are great! Best bang for your buck in my honest opinion. Coming from snap on, there is a difference in quality but NOWHERE near enough to be paying 4 times over.
Yo how's it going bro nice set I watched a couple reviews about the sets I have no reason right now to spend money on that right now but if I was definitely have to look at that set all cheers with a beer take care
Hey brother. I’m just cleaning up here around The Compound. About to record some more videos. Yes the set is a little pricey but I certainly don’t regret this one!! It’s top notch!!
@@TheDurbinCompound just wash well with soapy water after wd40 and or glass cleaner. reminds me i need to clean and lube all my sheet metal tools. but i just picked up this set on cyber monday from homedepot. they had it for 89.99 for the 48-22-9008 set. cant wait to actually use it. but the quality seems to be better then icon i had them side by side
Brent Talley yeah they don’t make metric that I know of. They tray comes close to fitting in the packout, you could trim the tray a little. I think that it may not fit height wise in the packout with the standard tray like in this kit.
TheDurbinCompound ok thanks I took the packout it and put in one side of the full organizer and have my 1/4 stuff on the other side on socket rails and have a shallow metric 3/8 socket rail there as well it would be nice to clean it up a little better though it would have been nice oh well thanks for the reply it's much appreciated
Over time I have not experienced any wear off of this laser etching. However, I did buy their impact sockets and I’m super disappointed about their etching on them and how small the font is.
@@TheDurbinCompound Well I meant a long time (years). I got some old sockets laying around that I don't know what size they are because the etching rubbed off, then some that are stamped that were rusted over that I cleaned up and still could read the sizing. Really wish they were stamped on, as I would buy them up real quick.
This set has been used almost daily for 3 years. I have it in and out of professional techs hands, passed around to multiple shops for real world testing and it has had zero issue. This is an awesome set.
@@TheDurbinCompound Thats cool, but you know it will fade like they all do. I was using a friends socket set and couldn't hardly read the writing on it and found out it was a milwaukee. Also I meant long term meaning more than 20+ years. Stamp will always rein supreme over etching, which is why I wish they went with stamped on it.
I would say these are right on par with SnapOn. I own many SnapOn tools and I reach for this socket set more often. They are just as good. Fit and finish is not that far off at all. Really would be hard for me to justify even a BluePoint set after owning this kit for awhile.
TheDurbinCompound I am really considering giving them a try. They look very good. Thanks for your video review and answering my question. All the best!
Over priced ugly sockets. Won't ever by any of their hand tools. I will stick with Craftsman. Less cost same warranty. I also have Snap On tools from when I first started wrenching several decades ago. I fell into the Snap On is the best mindset until I realized Craftsman does the same job the Snap On does and has the same warranty as Snap On for way less money.
