Glad to see such a great brand offering a travel machine like this. I am definitely interested.

I was really happy to see that Olympia company decided to remind its solid workmanship and reliable history with new products. I sincerely hope that you will develop a product that is structurally sound (Olympia standard), consumes minimum energy and is compact for espresso-loving sailors. There is no espresso machine on the market suitable for sailboat conditions, but there is a great demand for it.

In theory the Cramina or the mina could work on a sailboat. The cremina Boiler is closed usually and the mina can be packed up for safe storrage.

Just bought one right now - tbh, the design is so incredible beautiful that I just had to pull the trigger ;) Great that its designed and intended to be a travel machine, I think thats the main selling point here (compared to all other "portable" level brewers, but they all are so much bulkier and heavier). Also Swiss manufacturing - thank you! It'll last for generations, I know already ;) Cant wait!!

What's up with needing to raise the lever a second time after preinfusing? And is there an air-bleed valve in the piston?
@markhicks5569
@markhicks5569 Месяц назад
Olympia responded to a similar question on Instagram. They said you have the inlet valve and the V-ring that are acting like an air valve essentially. The question was whether there is an air valve in the plunger so the Fellini pull doesn't unseat the puck from Lance himself.

I think you have to take into account how these are built. This is not mass produced. It is essentially made in a shop full of artisans who are highly skilled in their profession. This will be a purchase of a life time. Can you imagine the journey you can take with this little beauty and all the stories it will tell over the years. Imagine this at a fishing cabin or on your counter next to a Kafatek and a Strietman when not traveling! I see imense value in that sort of scenario.

@@markhicks5569The Odyssey Argos is built in the same "artisan" way in Colorado and manages to compete in price with mass produced lever machines like those from La Pavoni and Elektra. And this is for a much more complex product than the Mina, with a boiler, software controlled PID with multiple temperature probes, spring lever design, steaming mode etc. I'd be very surprised if the Mina is lower in price than the Argos. It should be somewhere between the $500 Flair 58X (same capabilites) and the $1100 Argos, say $800? but my guess is it will be at least twice that price. I hope I'm wrong.

Not sure how this is less portable than a flair, looks more so a mon avis. PS this almost certainly be double the price of a flair, there are levels to this game and the precision machining that will have gone into this is will be unmatched compared to anything else on the market. @@hamishrobertson946 you can maybe, MAYBE make an argument for the FLAIR not being up to the par on built quality (although as a camping/portable espresso tool I don’t know why would you). With the Robot that argument is totally futile. Nothing comes close in terms of built at this price point (and many cases above it), it’s an engineering marvel. It’s built like a tank and will easily outlive 2 generations. It’s ridiculously low maintenance. Most people I know who have it for 6+ years have only replaced the piston seal, that’s it. And as efficiency goes, you can have espresso done and machine cleaned in less than 5-6 minutes. I respect Olympia and their quality standards but there are others out there at this point that can make equally robust and high quality machines without having to price them at ludicrous levels.
@salarycat

This has better workflow than the flair pro since it has a portafilter you can remove. It’s equivalent to the flair 58. So if it’s priced like the flair pro or less, it seems like the better choice.

I won't buy it as it is, I'll wait for it to develop. I will wait until a convenient and practical electric heating is added. Although Olympia is very late in this product, it seems that it does not research the products and user demands on the market and does not take them seriously. I think they will take the demands seriously when it reflects negatively on sales.
@olympiaexpress_sa
@olympiaexpress_sa Месяц назад
Electrical heating is not part of the concept and also not needed. As two flushes are suficient for darker roasts a third for lighter roasts. an electrical heating element would make it heavier and would also need a power source to use it. And even then you would need to hear the water before filling it in. Only use case where this would belp is when you use it in a fixed location like at home. But this is not the main focus of the Mina
