THIS BAMBOO BUILDING AND COMMUNITY PROJECT IS MIND BLOWING!! What an absolutely awesome thing to witness and see happening here in the Philippines!
Have you heard of "Bamboo Bootcamp" before!?
There is a new movement focused on teaching people all about bamboo, growing it, treating it, utilizing it, and building with it! It is a course that brings people together for nine days to learn all about bamboo. But not only that... it is also focused on community projects and in this case, working with the Matigsalug Tribe in the mountains of Davao.
It is absolutely mind blowing when you first see this bamboo pavilion being built near BuDa (Bukidnon/Davao) mountain road in Mindanao. Spending time talking with Jed, one of the founders of Bamboo Bootcamp was truly inspiring. And it was so wonderful seeing so many people want to be a part of the learning, and signing up for the course!

Truly a positive natural resource here in the Philippines!

@HandsomeGuy, Imho, if the structure is parallel to the mountain slope, it would be easier for a strong wind to lift the entire structure up. Whereas, the most damage a strong wind can do to how it's situated now, is to lose some roof shingles. Imagine the structure as an umbrella--With the shade down, going vs the direction of the wind, you just have to hold the handle firmly to survive the wind. Facing the opposite direction, your umbrella and you will be completely blown away by the wind. Therefore, this structure needs a very strong foundation. Nevertheless, strong typhoons are almost impossible to survive if the structure isn't made of concrete.

@HandsomeGuy depend on the wind directions, you both is right, the split piece of Bamboo as a roof is so unique and i've seen this around my barangay, some may not aware of the Bok-bok becomes the favorite food. By the time you noticed it why the roof is leaking, it was the Bok-bok fault, well the owner didn't know was the Bok-bok food.

What I love about Kulas' channel - educational! You don't learn these things from school. And I get to see different parts of Mindanao and the Philippines. Because of this pandemic I didn't get a chance to see other parts of the country. But it's always nice to see these beautiful places from Becoming Filipino! Thanks Kulas.

I have this high hopes and aspirations for bamboo as being considered the most resilient tree?or grass?that can just easily sway and dance in the midst of the strongest storms ...but that's just at the back of my head ,I never thought it's being realized in that part of the Philippines cool !amazing to know ...also interested to know coz we have this small family land called"kawayanan" coz its a sort of "abandoned " lot full of bamboos left alone while growing up and now got an idea what to do about them👍

We planted two thousand giant bamboo recently in our climate change farm in Cabangan, Zambales. I've always love bamboo since it's so plentiful here but so expensive in California where I used to live.

Yessss! I believe Filipinos should go back to their roots & construct more bamboo structures with modern tech & accents. Bali is doing it and it's so awesome there. Philippines have been invaded so much that they have forgotten how awesome bamboo is. My mom came from a bamboo hut village and I loved visiting there!

Let us "Bamboorestation" or "Kawayan-nation". From bamboo as food, as grass, as furniture, as fuel, as weapon, as building material, as bahay kubo and everything like salakot .... it's bamboo the kawayan.

Why limit to bamboo? Yes, its a good initiative but we could plant indigenous trees as well. Reforestation would be beneficial as the country is an agricultural one to begin with. Hope its not too late to preserve and develop our natural resources and attain self sufficience through going back to our roots and traditions.

You have bamboozled us into lots and lots of bamboo haha! That is a very beautiful and unique structure. Bamboo boot camp, I like that! To think it’s a grass but can grow taller than some trees. Bamboo really is a sustainable material and can be used in thousand if ways around Philippines. I have enjoyed this very educational vlog and what a way to learn and immerse yourself about it through bamboo boot camp. Amazing!😊

This by far the most educational video you've made and it's all about bamboo starting from humble beginning - rooting, to planting, to harvesting, to curing and to raw material. It's versatility is limitless, all it takes is a little imagination and creativity to convert into something. I've read an article that said bamboo flooring or walling regulate the humidity inside a house. There are also studies that suggest that bamboo leaves has medicinal properties to it "tea". Thank you Kyle for taking us with you exploring the benefits of Bamboo. I like that you captured in your drone the valley giving me (us) glimpse of the area and the structure being built - their uniqueness. Looked very healthy surroundings you guys are in.

I love bamboo as construction material. It is more environmentally friendly because it doesn’t take long to regrow. If I’m not mistaken only 6 years unlike trees that take long to grow in maturity. Bamboo belongs to a grass family. I have bamboo worktop and flooring in the UK. They look beautiful! The only snag was it was made in China. I hope Philippines can manufacture similar product with bamboo. Love the wavy fancy roof....beautiful💓💓💓

I am amazed at how beautiful and majestic Mindanao is! Learning a lot from you and KD. Mindanao has always been a scary place for me in the past, seeing a lot of soldiers who got hurt badly and a lot of lost lives. As a nurse, I have seen a lot of tragedies. Watching your vloggs help me appreciate the new Mindanao. This place is on my bucket list. Davao is nice and would like to go back again.👍🙏

Bamboo is a very natural native kind of materials, Kulas utilizes it and not that gonna cost you a furtune to build. The good things the Archetics knows how to prevents the Bok-bok for their best favorite food by treating it before installations. It's a piece of master arts the native ways, almost no metals involved on this constructions, some ties that needs to be strong enough but the rest is mind blowing nativity style. Surprissingly, located to my new hometown of Bukidnon not far from Manolo Fortich, can't wait to see around the creativity of these young generations have. Thank Kulas for posting, as always , we followed your video.

Beautiful, promising, challenging, inspiring bamboo structures project awakening in the Philippines from the successful projects in other ASEAN countries, particularly Indonesia. Hope Kulas, you update what they are doing in that eco-project, and hope you learn and bring that knowledge to apply soon into your Cateel house. it would not be so hard, would it? This is a very INFORMATIVE video. I hope and pray that Filipinos use this technique in order to reduce or as much as possible not to cut any of those Trees to sell as a timber where the Philippine EAGLE and other native birds living in.... Super great information,,, even main-stream media do not have this content regarding our Philippine bamboo. They do housing project but seams to fail, I also seen bamboo manufacturer but they aimed to grow business with it. Yours is like to educate us, especially the most important thing that is treatment so bamboo will last longer. Good job Kulas keep on showcasing these Filipino assets.
