Between the mounting height, the tinsel leads, the fact its taking good power, the surround, this thing is a beast for the price and size. You are finding all the hidden gems of shallow subs lately. Make a false floor with two of these for an SUV and it would be a killer stealth setup. 125 on a single is pretty good for an entry level sub, this thing impresses.

Great video. My only grip with shallow-mount subwoofers is that they use shit for magnets and while they are indeed physically "slim", that doesn't always equate to needing a small box. Most have Qts in the 0.7 range and higher! Then after being installed in a small box, Qtc ends up being likely double! Most people may not know what that means, but it partially spells out that they end up having a real bad peaky response and horrific group delay/ringing that can ruin the sound quality of a sub. To really work well, it would take more engineering than people would want to pay for, unfortunately. The needed magnet strength to get Qts down in the sub 0.30 range that really starts to level out the frequency response would be massive, or would need a Neo magnet. Then it needs a stiff suspension to keep the Vas low, but without enough mass, the Fs gets too high, so you end up needing a stiff suspension plus a lot of mass to keep Fs in the 30s or so, and then you need even more magnet BL to prevent Qts from skyrocketing once again and giving it the horribly peaky response. If you know of one with Qts: 0.28-0.30, Vas: 1.0 ft³, Fs: 30 and that will be the golden ticket!
I did notice that a long time ago. The shallow subs are still using the same airspace as a regular sub. If you put it in a slim box it sounds like crap. They need airspace. Thanks for your comment.
Ya know one thing I don't understand is such high ratings on subs like this and even regular subs.. I've never own a dd sub but one thing I've always respected is the modest rms and max ratings.. I mean absolutely nothing wrong with saying a shallow sub is 300w max.. or whatever.. no Shame at all..
You're right. Companies should really be honest about the ratings and people won't blow their subs thinking they can handle some ridiculous amounts of power

The sub specs make no sense. It only has 2.5" mounting depth but then it needs 1.0 ft^3 of air space. While a 12" Kicker L7T has 4 1/8" mounting depth but only needs as little as .55 ft^3. I am really tight on space, do you know of another cheap 12" sub that hits hard for about the same price in a smaller box?
I understand your frustrations. Mounting depth is a big concern for many people. Something for the same price similar to this probably not. I can test this in a smaller box possibly and see what it sounds like. The smallest box o have is probably about 1 square foot. Ported. Honestly every box I tried this in it sounded great. And yes every sub has their own spec's the company gives.
