That's wonderful to hear! Isn't it amazing how it keeps improving with age (along with us, haha)?!! :)

Whenever I do the Cycle, any excess tension is released from myself. My mind, body and spirit are more relaxed and open so my playing is easier, my sound is better and the music flows more freely. The Cycle is always the first thing I do before I start practicing.

That's wonderful, Angele! I agree that TheCyCle™ is a fantastic warm up before practicing and I'm delighted to know that you use it that way regularly! Thanks for your comment, and I wish you happy practicing!

At first, I didn't understand how this was beneficial for me. But I decided to trust when Jennifer said to, and I am sure glad I did. Not only is it good for warm up for practicing, but it also helps alleviate stress during daily life. Not sure how I managed life before having this tool!

Thanks for your comment, Vicky! It constantly amazes me how much we can benefit by integrating TheCyCle and ConstructiveThinking into our everyday lives and music!

This has been very helpful. I also experimented with doing it while listening to recordings of pieces that tend to make me tense (i.e. just played 1st vln. part with a Shostakovich piano concerto yesterday.) This was helpful preparation- I actually focused on easing during the performance! I wonder if there is an element of bilateral stimulation that is especially relaxing in this...😃

In this video, Jennifer is generously sharing one of the foundational awareness exercises of her Art of Freedom® Method. The point of the exercise is not to provide some kind of quick fix to obtain immediate results, but to initiate a process that fundamentally reframes our approach to ourselves as primary instruments on the one hand and to musical tools as secondary instruments on the other hand. To benefit from it, TheCyCle™has to become part of your daily routine.

Thank you for your comment, Tristan, and for your appreciation of TheCyCle™ etude! Actually, most people who try it benefit from the exploration even the very first time; but yes, to reap the full benefits, daily practice (repetition) is incredibly helpful to build up the neural network that enhances its value! Thanks again for your thoughtful comment!! :)

I'm trying to think how this incorporates into practicing, and I think I somewhat have an idea, thankyou

There are SO many ways that Constructive Thinking helps in our musical practice, since it's essential to have a clear and focused mind when we play. CT can help replace negative, self-critical thinking while playing, reducing pain and performance anxiety, and allow for spontaneous creativity to arise. TheCyCle is just the first in a series of etudes that introduce movements, so that it becomes easier to access a flow state and effortlessness while moving to play your instrument. My Level 1 course teaches musicians how to do CT in non-musical activities throughout the day, which indirectly transfers to the music; the Level 2 course goes into all the specifics of how to apply CT to your instrument; the Level 3 course goes in-depth into the most effective, cutting-edge practice methods based on research, combined with CT. With the skill of CT, it's impossible not to improve! :) Let me know if you're interested in learning more. Thanks for commenting, Kimberly! (And sorry it took me so long to reply!)
