Dude, Bill Ward is the reason John Bonham took it to the next level and Bonham is the reason Ward took it to the stratosphere. They both were friends and respected/loved each others playing. I had read that Sabbath and Zep had a jam session one time, but apparently no one thought to record it. How epic would that have been to be a fly on the wall in that room. Great reaction as always.

I saw them around 1971 while in college, they were great live. I was so lucky to have been a poor college student at that time when there were so many up and coming bands to see for cheap, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Grand Funk, Led Zeppelin, etc. I heard that Bill Ward played the drums with the drum sticks held so that he used the fat end so that they wouldn't break when he played them.

You mentioned Bill Ward and John Bonham. Heard a story that back in the early days, Ward wouldn't let Bonham use his drums, even just to show him something. Guess Bill Ward got mad since Bonham had broke Wards drums twice and Ward struggled to pay for repairs. Bonham banged so hard on the drums, so did Ward. Thought that was kinda funny, just see Bill Ward saying break your own bloody drums. Peace

Love your reaction to these videos. This particular recording is interesting as it is a very early version of the song with alternate lyrics. Totally agree, Bill Ward is a monster. Both him and Geezer Butler had a heavy jazz influence which contributes to the unique rhythm sound of the band. It’s metal, but it swings at the same time.

There’s a reason why, guitarist in particular, love the older bands like Sabbath. The music was new, raw, and the sound was IMMENSE. Even to this day, as a guitarist, I prefer the overdriven sound of Iommi’s guitar compared to a lot of what’s out there today.

Good day, What people seem to overlook is that Tony Iommi Lost the tips of two of his fingers on his fingering hand while at work, they were sawed off. He then invented some tips for his fingers. It's amazing how he can play such intense riffs, not being able to feel the strings with his two middle fingers. He is why I got into playing and having a very nice musical career. Salute

I know this is a year late lol but actually, the part of the brain that controls speaking is different from the part of the brain that controls singing. That’s why people with stutters can sing like there’s nothing wrong. If you’re familiar with Kodi Lee from America’s got Talent, he talks like…how he talks, but man when he sings, he’s on another level. That’s likely the case with Ozzy.
