"All hail and bow to Mariah Carey, The Queen of Divas, Protector of the vocal skills from the realm, Archiduchess of Vocal range/registers, Empress of agility, The unmatched, The Mellisma mother, The Goddess of Songwriting and producing, The one often imitated, but never duplicated, The embodiment of pure success",. My simpleton ears are not worthy of your talent but a simple sung phrase will be enough to heal me for all eternity.
I agree with the other commenter emotions from MTV Unplugged is amazing, and if you want to be wowed by whistles that's a good one. Also, if you are a fan of Luther Vandross, he and Mariah did a remake of endless Love. I would suggest the Royal Albert Hall performance. Oh, and since you just watched a Saturday Night Live performance, check out her rehearsal of Vanishing for Saturday Night Live.
I’m thinking she did that with absolute purpose. Back then, when she did the MTV Unplugged, she was doing it to prove herself. She was getting a ton of criticism from so called "experts" and critics that said that she was nothing more than a studio creation, and that there was no way that she could do this irl, without the help of editing and effects. I can’t think of one artist who has ever been told that. So, for anyone who tries to disparage and cast hatred or doubt on her prime ability, just think about the fact that people basically thought Mariah was a computer.
