Mindfulness is thought of as nonjudgmental present-moment awareness of experience; a simple practice that can be life changing and transformative, yet is often misunderstood. In this engaging and powerful talk Dr. Carlson shares her insights into the why, what and how of practicing mindfulness, gleaned from nearly 20 years teaching mindfulness-based stress reduction to thousands of patients and researching its benefits in healthcare settings
Dr. Linda Carlson is a Full Professor in Psychosocial Oncology in the Department of Oncology, Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, and is Director of Research and works as a Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Psychosocial Resources at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
Dr. Carlson trained as a Clinical Health Psychologist at McGill University in Montreal, researching the area of psychoneuroendocrinology, studying the mind-body connection. She has been conducting research at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre since 1998 in mind-body therapies and integrative oncology, particularly mindfulness-meditation and yoga. Dr. Carlson has co-authored two books, a professional training manual entitled The Art and Science of Mindfulness: Integrating mindfulness into psychology and the helping professions.in with Shauna Shapiro, and a patient manual entitled: Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery: A step-by-step MBSR approach to help you cope with treatment and reclaim your life.

Thank you for putting science facts and experience together showing it does matter how we treat our thoughts and body. Intentional mindfulness is more then bliss it's creating peace !
