Through her stories, May May shares how kids can develop a healthy, positive, and productive growth mindset - one that helps to stop focusing on failures, escape from a negative loop of self-doubt, and become more confident.
May May is a 7th-grader at Ferris Elementary School in Richmond, BC. She enjoys public speaking and debating. In her free time, she loves to read and spend time creating and playing inside her own imaginary box. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Love this talk. The only thing is the use of hands as a way of explaining ones point. She is very young so she would become better, yet, this is a great lesson for all of us that want to perfect their public speaking skills. I find myself getting so distracted by the hands, so I heard the talk without the visuals. I was then able to concentrate and understand the message perfectly. Again, not to criticize her as she is so young, but to teach us, adults how important is the use of our body to project a message. I congratulate her, she is going to go far in this world.

mindset doesn't save you from poverty. I'm so amazed I haven't died yet. And I totally understand our disgustingly large suicide rates
@imakebillionaires266
@imakebillionaires266 2 года назад
I disagree poverty is a mindset... it is the thought that you don't have enough... if thoughts are things then poverty will show itself when you are thinking "poor" thoughts... the reason there are so many "poor" people are many but as knowledge comes more widespread with the internet this will change... the fact that you are connected to the internet is a reason you can if you like call yourself "rich" it won't solve your problems at first but once your subconscious mind takes hold of that IDEA and you condition yourself to have an abundant mindset things will change... wealth is an idea... nothing more use your higher faculties to bring this idea forward... we are programmed to live from our senses... this is the wrong way to live... we could evolve to live from our higher faculties, imagination intuition memory reason perception and the will... looking forward to your response y
@sirsheep9547
@sirsheep9547 2 года назад
Proverty is the lack of resources to support basic daily necessities. (Highschool economics definition). Calling proverty a mindset of unsatisfactory to the current state is not correct. People don't suicide just because they think they are poor, but due to the great debt they are unable to afford.
@imakebillionaires266
@imakebillionaires266 2 года назад
@@sirsheep9547 how does one escape poverty? first by thinking one can escape poverty.... People do die of suicide because they think they are poor... I have first-hand knowledge about this... they think there is no way out and that it will always be like this... how many people do you know that commit suicide because they have too much money? the numbers are few and far between compared to the numbers that "think" they are poor this is the reason I say it is a mindset we are born abundant and we learn of poverty and to the poor it is programmed because there is only abundance in nature... the birds and the bees have abundance... so do we when we program ourselves for abundance... I know I create billionaires for a living
@sirsheep9547
@sirsheep9547 2 года назад
@@imakebillionaires266 By your logic, poor people are poor because they feel "poor". Rich people are rich just because they feel "rich". Thus, poor people cannot feel "rich" because they would be rich if they have the "rich" mindset. Nor would rich people ever feel poor because they became rich by their "rich" mindset. That's a flawed statement, if you become poor, you feel "poor", and vice versa. Your reversing the relationship.
@sirsheep9547
@sirsheep9547 2 года назад
Your statement sounds correct. Rich people feel rich therefore people who feel rich are rich. However, the thing you are trying to imply is people who feel rich become rich. That is flawed and misleading. You said it was programmed in nature, and most of us feel poor and numerically are poor is solely on us trapped in our limited understanding. But, you underestimate the factors of talent, skill, personality, equality of opportunities, luck and experience. You simplified the road to rich too much, that now it sounds condescending and absurd.
