i didn’t know that mojang and c418 stopped collaborating so this came as a surprise to me i really like leina raine, but it doesn’t hit the spot of c418 left behind my opinion but i still like these songs
Lena Raine and Kumi Tanioka are just as good as C418. In my opinion, his music feels more nostalgic and calm, theirs feels more energetic, and probably will feel nostalgic in a few years. It doesn't matter. Minecraft will always be amazing, no matter who makes the music. Tbh if all 3 of them collaborated or something it would sound amazing, but sadly that will probably never happen. I think the music fits the themes perfectly. But hey, that's just my opinion.
Wow people can't seem to rap their tiny minds around the fact that C418 may've gone away from the Minecraft OST and decided to work on other things. Or hell, maybe he's taking a well deserved break. I mean, the dude has made one of the best OSTs for a game. He should deserve all the time he needs for a break.
I feel like, while c418's music invokes a sense of calm and nostalgia, representing the early days and roots of Minecraft, this feels more adventurous, kinda like how Minecraft has evolved over the years, with new places to explore, and more things to discover. It would be cool if the old music would play while you were in chunks you've been in before, while 1.18 music would start playing when you venture out into unexplored chunks.
Lema and Kumi did an outstanding job at making music that fits the feel of the new updates. It really does sound like a continuation of C418's work, but also a tribute at the same time. This really is wonderful work
Comforting Memories gives me the feels. The title is so perfect. It really does feel like comforting memories. There's quite a C418 vibe to it that immediately gives you nostalgia, but there's also a hopeful tone that comforts you, like saying all the great times you've had as a kid are not over. You can still make new comforting memories. I feel like it was specifically aimed at us, long-time players that got attached to C418's music. I'm probably never going to stop being nostalgic over C418's music and honestly, I don't think if I'm completely sure about the new music and the direction they're going for but I'm going to stay optimistic and hope the game gets even better because it's time to make new comforting memories.
Infinite amethyst is special to me. I sat alone in this huge, beautiful, lush cave, and just said to myself, “it’ll never be the same”. But then it started to pick up, and I remembered, when I first played Minecraft, I knew nothing. And I loved it. I didn’t have to remind myself it didn’t have to be the same. Just how I don’t have to remind myself that this is still a great game I enjoy. So, I marched on, and played it just like i did back in 2014. There was no more need to dwell like I did before. It was beautiful.
Comforting memories really hit me in the feels. I’ve been a Minecraft player for over 12 years. The music alone has so much c418 vibe to it, I love it. Although I do have so much memory’s with the old music itself. I really love the new music direction that Minecraft is going for.
Played mc for like 9 years now and I absolutely love these songs it's bring a breath of fresh air into the songs it just seems to suit the game so well as well I just wanna hear them more often in my game lol
Honestly, I don't get why people hate these tracks. True, they aren't as nostalgic as C418, but they still add something great to the minecraft experience, and sound great. Honestly looking forward to playing Minecraft with this music (although it won't be for a while. College and work make for very little free time)
I was so confused about otherside because I thought it was a normal track that would play with all the others and the tone was so off in comparison, but if its a music disc then that makes a lot more sense
I feel, as a writer, compelled to tell you all this. When I listened to the old music, it felt like I was being welcomed into a world. One I could mold to any shape I could want, to create whatever I want. I built castles, terraformed mountains, cleared oceans, grew environments, explored caves and had my fair share of pets. I built the world anew to whatever fit my vision, and, by my same hand, removed everything that I didn't see fit. This new music, it reminds me of the fact that I stopped playing after a while. Worlds left to rust, pets unfed, buildings slowly losing itself to time, and yet still it doesn't move. And then one day, you return, and... Its exactly how you left it. You take a moment, slowly taking in and remembering what you used to do... And you build again. You mold this world anew, once more. I will always love the old music, and it will hold a place in my heart forever, but we have to let new things come into our lives or else we will forever remain unchanged... Boring. We came back to these worlds as different people from the ones who used to play them. We don't have the same habits, same preferences. Maybe a few are there, but we're older... You grew up. And Minecraft did too.
Infinite Amethyst is just f*****g majestic. It also creates a big nostalgia feeling in me for some reason. It almost makes me tear up. Such a beautiful piece of music.
We grew up with c418, now the next generation of minecraft player's will see this as the new c418 of minecraft Im just happy the next generations of minecraft player will enjoy this the same way we enjoyed c418.
i use shaders when i play minecraft, and i was exiting a dripstone cave once when comforting memories (38:30) starts playing. i looked up and saw the beautiful scene of sunrays and trees blowing in the wind. it was morning time and i sat there staring until it ended. even if the music isnt by c418, it's still the most beautiful game music i've ever heard, and i hope it becomes as nostalgic as the older soundtracks.
Bro amethyst geodes look insane with the right shaders and some PBR materials. Using complementary plus it’s auto-generate PBR makes the amethyst buds glow and reflect off the blocks in a super pretty way
Agreed. First song I heard upon launching the snapshot for the first time was Infinite Amethyst on the main menu. I sat there as it looped twice without doing anything, only entering a world once it changed back to the original sound track for the menu. I can't wait for more from Lena Raine!
As someone who has been playing minecraft daily since feburary 2012, I will always be very attached to the original music pieces. However, I think that the music that has come out in the later stages of minecrafts life, like the 1.13 update by C418 or the 1.16/1.18 sound tracks by Lena/Kumi are much more evolved pieces that have more of the spirit of what minecraft truly is. An awe inspiring adventure, meant to be taken slow and appreciated every step of the way. Lena Raine does such a great job with atmospheric pieces that match enviornments. I'm really happy mojang brought her along for minecraft.
100% agree. His first mc albums were some of his first works, and it really shows. Like the game, C418's music evolved over time and you can really see that in the 1.13 songs.
this isn't hate, but just my general opinion. some of the songs made by Lena Raine can get sorta old pretty quickly. I feel like that has something to do with how often they play in game. The original soundtrack made by C418, however, seems to play less frequently, thus making it feel much more special and memorable. And to top that off, I've pretty much grown up with C418's music, which make it even more special. (I'm not trying to talk down to Lena Raine, I just find her music slightly less memorable)
This soundtrack feels far away, however it's just the fact that memories that bound us with it don't exist yet that make us feel like it's worst than C418's music (which I love with all my heart
C418 reminds me of all the times I played Minecraft. Lena Raine makes me reminisce on those times I had and makes me feel complete nostalgia all over again
Everyone seems to be praising Infinite Amethyst, and rightfully so, but Stand Tall, Floating Dream, Comforting Memories, and the disc track Otherside (for an upbeat cheery tone) are all instant favorites for me alongside it. I'm hearing multiple tracks from both composers I love here. I'm not sure I agree with comparing these to C418, but on the other hand, I get it. It's inevitable. Minecraft is a game that's been around for over a decade on handfuls of platforms, so it's like when you think of (older) Final Fantasy titles how Nobuo Uematsu comes to mind, or for the Command & Conquer fans, Frank Klepacki. Games with great music help get elevated BY that music, which helps solidify the game and music both, and C418 did a great job becoming that for Minecraft. That being said, I don't think (m)any of these feel out of place in Minecraft. Yeah they are different but they are different composers. The variety is nice too, especially with how the game has changed (for the better mostly). For me to almost pick out half of these and say they are high favorites, I'll be looking forward to listening to them alongside existing tracks. C418's stuff is great but it's winning many points on nostalgia, and in time, many of these will too.
The thing I like the most about these tracks is how adventurous they feel, just today had one of the best adventures I've had in videogames period accompanied by some of these pieces and I must say it felt great. I think C418's work is more ambiguous and later pieces are more calming and they make me feel like I want to create build astonishing places while the music from Lena and kumi makes me want to ride on a horse for 7000 blocks, I think the more time you spend on a chunk the more you should hear C418's work and newer chunks for theese new wonderful pieces
Tbh this is the new era of Minecraft... Dream and whatever, there's Hermitcraft, Wattles, Wifies, Pixlriffs and other channels that will bring nostalgia to the new Minecraft community.. The music fixes the holes of MC 2021, and the new caves and cliffs predict that the mc world passed a lot of years... (thanks for correcting me lol)
It still holds the feel for the original players, but as an OG I’m so glad to see how much it’s been able to do and achieve, it’s developed and grown into things I never thought were possible when I played it on the Pocket Edition Lite version. I never thought it would change lives like it has.
I had dreams of playing MC like 20 years in the future, and this gives off a similar vibe. I remember seeing a whole bunch of new plants added, like the dripleaf... it was so surreal
The crazy thing is mumbo and grian have been around for ages( mumbo-8 years and has been on hermit craft since season 2 and grian 6 years) but they only got quite popular (1-2 mil subs I think) a few years ago. Dream started back in 2020 or 2019 I think and the smp got popular like 2020. Based on this the cutoff is probably around 1.14-1.16. Going by changes to the game though 1.18 makes the most sense (or just the whole caves and cliffs in general) I’m definitely more part of the new era as I joined in 1.14. I may have not grown up with Minecraft but I’m really excited to see how this game progresses in the next few years.
when i saw that lena raine was working on this i was so exited because i have played celeste before and the soundtrack there was awesome and although this feels kinda different from usual minecraft ost that celeste vibe is just too good
Lena also made the new ost for the Nether update and while, as you said, its a bit unusal fro MC, it definetly fits and has an amazing vibe. Listen to "So below" from that update if you havent yet, its my favorite
“Comforting memories” hits different for me because that’s exactly what Minecraft is full of, comforting memories of when I was a kid, no worries to be seen, just me going around building houses, kingdoms, all that jazz, having great fun on old servers with my friends. Great soundtrack overall.
Can we talk about just how stunning the concept art for the biome updates are? I have these in my folder of wallpapers my computer alternates through, they are gorgeous!
people dont wanna see this music coming in? that's outrageous. I'm a classic player, i've played since at least nov 2011. I've been through minecraft classic on the website when it first released, i've been through the introduction of mcpe, i've seen the release of the console editions, i've brought others into this game i've loved my whole life and i think i should have a little say in what i think about these updates. I'm happy to see this new music. If anything, i think Lena and Kumi's music actually stride above what C418 did for the game, and i regardless hear classic minecraft subtones in these tracks even still. I'm a simple player. Cat was my all time favorite minecraft song. But otherside? that shit ROCKS. Stop blinding yourself with those rose tinted glasses and be excited for minecraft's future. If you cant handle it, play older versions and stay stuck in the past. It has to change eventually.
I've been playing since 2014/15 ish and I can say, I prefer this new music MUCH more than the old music. I could never listen to the old music and always turned music off. This, however, is amazing.
Same here i always used to play with music off cause it was just kind of distracting most of the time but now i specifically turn the volume up whenever i hear one of the new songs it’s such an improvement. C418 is not a bad composer by any means, i like cat as much as the next guy, but i prefer these new tracks so much better
Removing the old music would be almost like removing creepers when it comes to just how many fans would get outraged over it. The only way i could see them removing it is if C418 himself no longer wants them in the game for whatever reason.
Apologies for formatting this like a musical analysis essay, but I remember bashing Lena Raine for the sake of nostalgia of C418; however, MAN, did she and Kumi Tanioka do such a good job with the newer OSTs. Like, there will always be the nostalgic, calming soundtracks and music discs of the C418 days, but the fact that Raine and Tanioka included leitmotifs of songs like Sweden and Alpha in a couple of their own is something that only a few soundtrack developers can do successfully (e.g., the transition from Marty O' Donnell to the new composers for the Halo franchise, but still preserving the Halo vibe very well). Also, as a sidenote, I find it really cool that most of Raine's and Tanioka's songs have a little bit of a Terraria-like sound, but calmer, which actually fits MC really nicely. I don't know; C418's stuff will always be nice to hear, but Lena and Kumi need to be given their dues for their amazing work :) .
People are hating on Lena Raine? That's a shame. When I found out the newest songs weren't by Rosenfeld, I was disappointed, and did feel a short tinge of negative feelings. Just a knee jerk reaction that "aw man, some rando replaced my boy C418". But I'm open minded, so I went ahead and listened to the new tracks and they were fantastic. Rubedo is my favorite and it's up there with Ballad of the Cats, The End and Alpha. Needless to say when I heard an unfamiliar song (Infinite Amethyst) on booting 1.18, I immediately checked the wiki and was excited to see a new soundtrack dropped. It's alright. My mind goes somewhere between Volume Alpha and Volume Beta listening to it. Whereas Beta comes in hot and Alpha is reserved and has this intangible nostalgic charm to it, 1.18's OST is functional and lukewarm. I don't mean that in a bad way, I think it does well in bridging the gap between the other two major soundtracks. It's rounded. Not to mention, most of the existing minecraft music works so well _because_ it fades into the background, it's immersive. Stand Tall and Comforting Memories are probably my favorite tracks from this OST. Otherside is a bit strange aesthetically. Very high energy, it doesn't seem like it would fit as ambient music (as opposed to a jukebox record), but it is associated with a biome according to the wiki, so it'll be interesting to see how it'll actually sound in-game. It reminds me of Droopy Likes Your Face from Volume Alpha. Thing is, I used to be toxic like that. I would hate on things just because they're new if I had any negative feelings about them. So when I see other people doing that, I can't help but assume they're children/teens. I don't know what changed or when, but I'm a very different person from 10 years ago. Case in point, I was disappointed that C418 wasn't involved any more, but I listened anyway because, like greeting the new neighbor, I wanted to see what was in store. Give it a fair and honest chance with as little bias clouding my opinion as possible. Whereas if I was still 18 or 19, I would have probably done what some of these people are doing. I wouldn't have taken it as far as _transphobia_ (that's a yikes), but I would have probably been shitty like, saying it's "weak" or "unfitting" without much elaboration. I actually did make those observations above, but I would like to think I worded it in a constructive, positive and enthusiastic way without turning into complaining. Because they aren't complaints, they're just thoughts I had while listening. If I have any complaint about the music in Minecraft, it's that the game doesn't play it _often enough._ So many songs to choose from and yet you can go hours seemingly without hearing anything. They should really make that a setting. Music frequency. I would dial it up all the way every time. If y'all feel so strongly about Rosenfeld being replaced as the music guy, why not, like, direct those feelings towards supporting him financially instead of on hating on "the artist who replaced him". We don't know why he left. He probably just didn't want to keep doing Minecraft soundtracks, just like how Persson left Mojang after the full release of the game. Did I mention Lena Raine did the Celeste OST?
Yea i just did a commentary about that, Lena Rain did the Celeste OST, that i really liked the game and ost, its mabye that who make disagree at first about the new Minecraft OST, cause its sound more Celeste and not Minecraft, But now after seeing the pin comment, i realized that, this is not a reason, and i listen more and more the new OST!
To help clarify the situation with C418; Daniel couldn't come to an agreement with Microsoft, to continue creating new music for Minecraft. Supposedly, just getting the Update Aquatic music implemented took a lot of lawyering. (Something Daniel, obviously, would rather not go through every new soundtrack release.) Microsoft wants full ownership of the music tracks. Daniel wants to reserve ownership of his music (& that is his right to do so.), & would love to continue making music for Minecraft. (hence the unreleased third album) It's a shame this is how it has to be, but it makes room for new contributors. Three so-far!
i don't know how anyone could hate ANY minecraft music. as someone who basically STUDIED the OG minecraft music, and listens to it every day in a special playlist i made of my favorites, i LOVE this new music. right off the bat, my favs are left to bloom, wending, infinite amethyst, one more day, OTHERSIDE (MY FAVVVVV), floating dream, and comforting memories. just saying... the haters are missing out. can't wait to add these new songs to my minecraft music playlist and reorganize it :) i'm IN LOVE with this music. ALL minecraft music by c418 AND these 2 beautiful artists is perfect to me.
@@chromaticcracker321 i dont know much except people hate the new soundtrack, maybe because some of these songs now play in game while you play minecraft. and i think people are mad because people hate new things, and say "old good, new bad." basically just salty that C418(original minecraft music person) didnt make these songs. but the songs are just as good. but yknow, people be hating. from what i recall, haters even flooded this comment section once. hope this explains it !!
everybody's talking about otherside but infinite amethyst is where its at. There's something about it that makes me want to take it everywhere I go. I hope there more ways to listen to Minecraft music in game that's more portable.
they probably have a trigger to activate them in-game, cause i haven't heard them in-game yet. (i probably have my sound off lmao now that i think abt it.)
listening all this new music and listening to all og music makes me think, minecraft after all he has pass is still minecraft? or is a new game based in a legendary stetic of other game... welp, here is were the theory of the boat of Teseo apply, when all is replaced in something is it still the same or is something new yet to be discover...
@@griffinbeeman3638 Same it could use some rewording lol, but I think they have a good point if you can understand what they're saying and look past their wording.
All of the content won't even come out by 1.19, it's so ambitious to the point where some features just caused problems with adding them sooner, I won't be surprised if all of the 1.17 features won't be added til 1.21 hits, and I don't mind that since the Wild Update seems very promising
Outside of the music disc, these didn't immediately blow me away when they first dropped on Spotify. I just really liked the weirdness C418 brought. I'll tell you tho, when you're actually in game, and especially when you're dealing with heights above 255 and below 0, these are perfect for the setting. They fit the majesty of some of the new formations perfectly. The SMP I play on has a tower at spawn that goes up to world height and down to bedrock, with rooms players can claim and decorate, and while we were extending it up to the new limit I took a dive off it with my Elytra while one of these songs were playing and it was just breath taking. Also Otherside is my new favorite music disc 100%. My headcanon on it is that it was written by one of the ancients to be an anthem of their determination to get to the *other side* of whatever struggles they faced back then. I think in retrospect that idea adds a bit of tragedy to the whole thing which I think is good. It gives you something to get emotionally invested in the ancients about. Btw for the record I fell in love with Lena Raines Nether OST instantly so don't get the wrong idea about me lol I just didn't see it with C&C OST at first but I've come around
For those of ya'll pissed about the new tracks, I booted up my game of Minecraft, turned the music on, and the first thing that played was Minecraft by C418. The tracks are still there, ya dummies!
If there ever was something to make me feel old, it's this. I first joined minecraft around 2010-12, falling in love with it almost immediately. C418's soundtrack kept me engaged in the game above all else, supporting me throughout those times and overall being the "background" for many of my introductions to what would become life-long friends. In 2016-17, my PC would breakdown, resulting in me not being able to play the Java edition of Minecraft that I loved so much. My account was left, practically floating in the endless abyss that is time, myself itching for the moment that I'd be able to once more play the game I loved. Due to financial troubles, my family was barely able to afford any device to play videogames on, myself only having a faulty Xbox 360 to try to get by-- though I never could get myself into the whole console-type of playing. What was a month without playing Minecraft turned into a year, and so on. As I grew up, Minecraft began to fade to the more farther edges of my mind, though never fully disappearing. Two to three years after my PC broke, recent events caused me (along with most other people) to quarantine. With no other things to genuinely do, me and my family began to save up for a laptop, to at least provide entertainment and some opportunities. In late 2020, I'd get said laptop, though with my eyes set elsewhere, I wouldn't download minecraft. In 2021, I'd get myself a new gaming PC, originally intending to download a bunch of crappy FPS games. One day I would browse through my recommendations, clicking on a title that'd appear familiar to me. I'd hear C418's compositions for minecraft once again. I had suddenly became more energetic, practically bursting with life. Memories came back to me, a childhood that I was forced to bury once-more arising. One week from the time I am writing this comment, on what I believe to be January 9th of 2022, I'd once again redownload minecraft. Frozen by anxiety fueled by a slight fear of the past, Minecraft would remain untouched on my taskbar. Today, the day I've made this comment (Jan 16, 2022), I finally gained the strength to play Minecraft again. I watched the odd launcher in confusion, along with the loading screen. Finally, I made it to the main-menu, only to be met with an unfamiliar new music. Still in awe, I'd create a new minecraft world, loading in and admiring the minecraft skin I had made so long ago. Suddenly, the unfamiliar music returned, along with an overall unfamiliar landscape or world. I felt as I had gone from a vetetan (which wouldn't be too far off considering how rusty I was). It took me a few moments to snap out of the daze only to begin to weep, as I had came to a realization. Minecraft never really left, nor did it end and stay (as so I believed after all this time), it aged and grew up with me. It'd take me a bit to regain my senses, only to be slapped across the face by the older minecraft music (C418), which once again resulted in me breaking down. While many have their criticisms of the new music (myself most definitely having mine), being driven understandably by a sense of duty to nostalgia, I'd also like to say this; just like how we've grown up over the years playing this beautiful game, so has the game itself. The music provided in the newer versions of minecraft serves as a reminder for how we have really grown, for better and for worse. It shows a brand new world where anything is possible, just as how childhood transitions into a confusing time of what is labelled "maturity." The new music, above all else, made me feel like a father, staring at a grown son or daughter. I figure, perhaps, that's how my parents felt as I began to transition towards maturity. I figure that's how I'll continue to feel as life moves on. I'm glad for the journey and for the wisdom gained along. God bless this beautiful world, god bless minecraft. More importantly, may god bless those who have grown and will continue to grow, though never forgetting the journey they had experienced in the past, rather it be minecraft or something else. For the younger ones who read this, don't take this time in your lives for granted. It'll only make up less than 20% of your lifespan, after all. Let your childhood and the memories gained throughout blossom. Never. Ever. Forget.
please do not send hate to the new creators of minecraft music...c418 most likely will not continue to make the minecraft soundtrack most likely because of problems with microsoft... my ratings of the new music: stand tall - lena raine: 4/10. not my type of music... left to bloom - lena raine 5/10. still not my type and could use a little bit of soft piano? a lot better than stand tall imo ancestry - lena raine 2/10. its just ambient noise...sounds cool tho wending - lena raine 8/10. i really like this one! it reminds me of waterfall and its raining somewhere else by toby fox from undertale but a little more upbeat... infinite amythest - lena raine 7/10. solid 7/10 because it sounds cool, sounds a little like lofi at the beginning. the middle is a little too much for me, i like the quiet... one more day - lena raine 9/10. super chill and overall nice song otherside - lena raine 5/10? 6/10? i mean it sounds cool but a little too upbeat and different sounding from the other music discs...and pigstep is the exception because thats from the nether...but i like 33:30 floating dream - kumi tanioka 7/10. super chill & ambient...very nice!! comforting memories - kumi tanioka 9/10. i think kumi captures the feeling of c418 in just the right way to make it similar but still making it her own an ordinary day - kumi tanioka 10/10. was about to say a little different but its perfect imo!!! i especially like the little fading kinda sound at 46:42. but it goes on for a little too long, not to much as to make me bring rating down because the space is filled perfectly
I find it funny that everyone is praising songs like Infinite Amethyst, and rightfully so, but I'd have to say Wending is seriously one of my favorites souly for the fact that it sounds very similar to Its Raining Somewhere Else from Undertale, a favorite of mine
To me, I see why people are defending C418's music and hating on Lena's and Kumi's. Its because C418 created the songs that are attached to the game they love; For example, if anyone began to think about minecraft music, the first song that would come to mind would probably be Minecraft or Sweden, not Infinite Amethyst or Comforting Memories, as good of tracks they are. I'm not trying to defend the people hating on the new tracks, and i am certainly not one myself, i love every single song that this game has to offer, i'm just pointing out one reason alot of people are probably hating on the new music. Of course it still doesn't justify it, if you don't like the music, sure, that's your opinion, but the entire world doesn't need to know that. And for anyone being transphobic in the comments, I'm gonna keep it plain and simple, shut your mouth, and listen to the beautiful music that @Lylythii has put together for you.
I was about to complete a map of my world, took the map and went to the zone, you know, to open it. I go back and place It. At that exact moment this piano (8:07) starts playing while I was watching all my constructions and stuff. Then I realized I did it all by my own and felt nice of how some cubes and my mind created a place so familiar and lovely, that I, at least in the game, can call home. I know the music plays randomly, but I felt like someone told me "Well done". And it was magic.
These are just awesome. The sad vibes make this OST nostalgic even if we haven’t had the chance to build memories with it yet. And that’s such a powerful thing.
Today, and for many days ahead, I listen in memory of Alexander, AKA Technoblade. I do not easily forget those who have impacted my life. If I am to live 90 years, I will still remember you when I am 100 years old, and all the wonderful souls who have been involved in my life. I hope your existence, and your soul, are surrounded with warmth; and the universe is holding you in a gentle, loving hold far beyond comprehension.
it's sad to see people clinging to nostalgia and hating the direction the new music is going, it's beautiful and a change we all needed, even minecraft has to change at some point
I grew up on C418 and the nostalgia I feel when I hear his music does get in my feels. I’m not a fan of Lena’s style, but I do love Kumis music, his minimalist approach and ambiance share a lot of similarities with c418. Both are very talented composers and I’m exited to see where they continue to take the game in the future
Honestly I really don’t care about who makes music in minecraft. As long as it sounds good. In this case: it is wonderful. If you really don’t like it that much just turn off your music.
I may be a boomer but C418's music just hits different for me. It's probably the tidal wave of nostalgia and fun memories but this in my opinion is good just not as good as the OG music. I like it and welcome variety but it just isn't the same for me.
C418 is more nostalgic, while the new ones are more like you’re currently doing the thing. Idk if I explained that right but that’s personally what I think of the music
I don't think that Lena Raine or Kumi Tanioka deserve hate, but I think that their style of music is far too different than what we've come to know over the last 10,11,13 years. For that reason, I don't see it as equal to C418's music. Edit: I do wanna say, Infinite amethyst is probably the only exception.
@@Lylythii Oh for sure. I'm already nostalgic for infinite amethyst, because it played a lot when I played with my friends last year when 1.17 came out and was all the hype. I don't feel like it holds the same power of nostalgia or calmness/peace that C418's music did though.
Lena Raine musics feels like a new adventure, I honestly don't know why would some people compare these to C418 musics and think they're "better". Personally, I pick both.
lena raine's music is so fucking good. she has made music for amazing games such celeste, deltarune, chicory, moonglow bay, and now fucking MINECRAFT. she is genuinely a great musician and person. also, she hails from the far off, mystical and exotic land... of seattle. references are fun
my ranking on these: 1. One more day, Comforting memories, Infinite amethyst, an ordinary day, wending, floating dream, stand tall, left to bloom, otherside 2. ancestry
Kumi really captured the classic c418 melancholy vibes whilst lena raine captured the livelyness of the newer updates and really gave a fresh feel to minecraft I love what both of them have done and cant wait for more
It doesn't sound like it did before. There's no atmosphere like that in Alpha and Beta's soundtrack. C418 sounded more smooth, and with that, it matched the game perfectly. This new soundtrack feels like just an instrument, which doesn't give that feeling when it plays at random moments while exploring the world.
These songs are amazing, they just feel weird as they're new and sound different to what we've been used to for years. I think I'll always prefer the C418 songs but these are fantastic, glad we're getting new music after years.
38:30 ... Yes. I'd usually call myself one of those toxic C418 supporters, but this track.. God.... It fits minecraft so perfectly and is becoming one of my favourites out of any album. Since last summer I've been unable to play minecraft without getting emotional because of a particular youtuber, and oh boy did this track not help haha Seeing its name now, jesus.. Truly made some extremely memorable and emotional moments with it in my world, and it helped me through a really tough time- At the ending of DSMP, I was watching the streams only wanting them to visit HIS house, and the kid whose idol he was, truly did. He did one last time. ..Wouldn't have gotten nearly as emotional if this track wasn't playing in the background haha good stuff
c418's music is more nostalgic, and Raine's music is more lively, fresh. But looking at the thumbnail, I see the flowers on the lily pads, beautiful fog over transparant clouds, short grassy flowers and humming fireflies. We never got to see any of these. Livin up the atmosphere a bit more!
Note: If you see anybody crying about this music and saying it is objectively worse than C418's tracks, even going through extreme measures to reiterate this, they are most likely longtime Minecraft players who have deep nostalgia for C418's tracks and do not want to accept music from any other person, even if most people who have never heard either composer's tracks generally agree they are of the same quality.
