MINECRAFT 1.20 CREEPER FARM | Easy, Efficient, Automatic 

Tip: if you're making the farm make sure your snow golems have a block above their head to stop the rain from damaging them before the roof is put on

if youre having trouble with spiders spawning in your farm try either replacing the carpets for slabs or creating a checkered pattern with buttons on the floors instead! there seems to be a parity difference with spider spawning on minecraft bedrock sorry about that 🫡

I built this on bedrock, here's some things to note if you're considering it. It DOES work, but it needs some modifications. As the video creator said in his pinned comment, you have to put buttons on each floor in a checkerboard pattern instead of carpet. Even then, bedrock will occasionally spawn spiders in the gaps. As far as I'm aware, there is no way on bedrock to get a 100% creeper only grinder. In my experience, after applying the button fix, it's 95% creepers with just a few spider stragglers here and there. Second, you may want to build each corner of the snowman cages up one extra fence, so two tall on the corners with the centers being one tall. This will prevent the straggler spiders from killing your snowmen. Trust me, having to go back in to work on this or replace snowmen after it's built isn't fun, so just do that on your initial build. Also, the spawn rate is WAY slower on bedrock due to the mobcap. You may go several minutes without any creepers dropping down, don't panic if it doesn't start raining creepers immediately. When they do drop, if you follow the 19 bock "chute" this guy made, over half of them will die of fall damage and not allow you to use looting. I made mine 15, and now it's only 1 in 5 that die of fall damage, while the ones that live are one hit kills with a sword. Finally, I suggest building the floor of your platform one block beneath the chest, with slabs on the hoppers. That way, you're close enough to hit them, but they won't blow up 99% of the time. If one does start to detonate, back up and you have plenty of time to prevent it. Also, if they're too far away to hit, crouch so they can see you.

Make a little 1x1 box at the side of the killing chamber and push a skeleton in. This turns your farm into a record farm when you're standing opposite of the skeleton - make sure you're not wearing thorns armor, and keep that shield up.

Campfires with soul sand do twice as much damage, which will increase the mob spawn rate and increase the drop rate.

Good lord sweet gravy and praise jesus a creeper farm that produces more than 1 mob per like 10 mins and actually is all creepers. First time a creeper farm works for me and I’ve built like 5 over the years. Always hardly any mobs or majority not creepers. Very appreciated

Just finished getting all the stuff ready and building this farm,it legit works. I have a little over 128 gunpowder *looting 3* and it's only been like 8-9 minutes.

Trapdoors are a nicer option than slabs on the killing area hoppers. Alternatively place trapdoors on the bottom of the glass. Either 1 (or both) will stop the creepers from getting triggered when killing them.

Great farm works perfectly!! One thing I would say to make it 100% safe is around the hoppers put fences they’ll prevent you from getting too close for them to explode.

Tip: Use obsidian or something with high blast resistance for bottom blocks where you collect, sucks when you get the cascade of explosions as you're trying to repair from the first one...and use cement slabs on top of the hoppers

You should use a block with seamed outlines, like smooth stone, for platforms so you can count them.

I fell in love with your tutorials, especially since they give you clear instructions on how the farm is intended to work and the ways you can modify it. I built it in my 1.20.1 world using tinted glass and am currently the happy owner of a double chest of gunpowder. It was my first ever creeper farm and after some troubleshooting to find out why some of my snow golems died, it works properly and I can now just travel there through my Nether portal to afk to my heart's content. I even did as guntramblohm4179 suggested and trapped a skeleton in a boat, in a small 3x3 stone brick hut behind the killing chamber with iron trap doors so I can toggle my creeper assassin whenever I need music discs.

I used trap doors instead of carpet, put fences around the hoppers and slabs on top of the hoppers. Works great! I've never made a creeper only farm before because they always use cats and I didn't wanna deal with that, so thank you for making a guide with easily obtainable resources

Just built it! Working amazing already!

Works great on bedrock (realm). AFK:able if you funnel it into a trident killer. About 2 stacks per hour + a decent amout of exp. Equipped looting enchant is applied for the trident. Well done mr Wattles. Exchanged the carpets for buttons.

I built this farm, and gathered all the materials and fully built it in my hardcore world in under 4 hours, from start to finish. My only issue was when at the killing area, a creeper blew up when i was making the platform, and i had to gather more hoppers because they blew up, but overall, its a great farm.

This farm is relatively easy to make, and it works very well! Just make sure you have trapdoors everywhere you need them and that you place slabs on top of the hoppers. Enjoy the gunpowder and XP!

Add trap doors on the last level of the outer walls for extra "no explosions for me" safety.

Best wood to use for the trapdoors is going to be bamboo. You can make an easy inf bamboo farm and 9 bamboo = 2 planks (sounds bad but really efficient)

Just for the people wondering, if you build it perfectly you can get up to 14 layers exactly! I just built mine for the first time and it is well worth the time and work!!! 10/10, will definitely be building this farm again! Thx Wattles!

I followed along with the tutorial and built exactly what he built just with cobblestone and all I was getting was the occasional creeper and a bunch of spiders. My snow golems also kept dying. P.S, I play on bedrock.

It should be sufficient to use 3 carpet on each "strip", as spiders need a 3x3 area to spawn. Simply change the two middle carpets to a single one in the middle. This will free up one spawning space for creepers, making the farm slightly more efficient. Also, for anyone watching, you can use slabs as the floor. This not only saves on building materials, but also reduces the amount of wandering the creepers can do. (Changing the walls for stairs also has this effect, so now creepers will essentially stand still until hit by a snowball. I don't think this will make a difference for this specific farm.)

Tiny tweak. Put the chest on the side so you don't have to step around it to hack at the creepers. or put chests all the way across the front so you're not constantly trying to maneuver around an obstacle. I plan on starting this build tonight. Who knows, I may even go farm some sand and use tinted glass. Or smooth stone. I have a crap ton of that too. Too much. everything I have is built out of smooth stone LOL.

I built the farm twice, I messed up the first time but the second it worked, although the spas rates aren’t as good as others. So far best creeper farm I’ve made👍

Nice one! I made the farm with 3 layers and I get about 1 stack of gunpowder every 15min, so 4 stacks per hour (java and hard difficulty)

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but you should put name tags on the snow golems so they don't de-spawn. Learned that the hard way.

This tutorial is extremely straight forward & easy to follow - farm is working great in Java 1.20.1 for me :) Now time to expand

Something that I’ve noticed a lot of farming tutorial videos to is they create the farm in a vacuum they don’t take into consideration, wanting to EFK spot or wanting to have like farms together farms that make TNT being in one location farms for villager crafting being in one location Etc. and I think it would be interesting and you could do well a guide of how to create localized farm areas where there won’t be so much interference between one farm and another Edit im sorry for all the errors, thank siri, but no im not going to fix them.

I built this design and it seems like it should work better, my spawn rates are really slow like 1-2 creepers every minute or so. Is it possible that because I'm on a server rates would be slower?

Playing on bedrock and I love the farm. I built this over a ocean biome and I get the occasional drowned. Nice little bonus since I don’t have a farm for tridents

im on hard mode and above y: 250 and no creepers are spawning at all. everything is exact except different blocks

I would strongly suggest to take the time to build a water bubble elevator to get that high up. A gunpowder farm sounds nice for a big server game but it seem limiting in a normal game. Since I usually play in lan with my roommate, in the early game we prefer to do a 3 layers hostile mobs farm because we get way more than just gunpowder. Fun fact: Once we started a game and around 3 weeks later we only found 4 villages and not one carrot in sight, it's actually the hostile mobs farm that provided us with our first carrot which my roommate took, jumped off the farm and went to plant and bone mealed it right away.

After spending hours buliding it i learned a valuable lesson read the comments before building. 2nd farm by wattles i have built claiming to be for bedrock too only for it not to work

That 1 weird corner block has to go, it spawns skeletons etc, that kill the snow golems. 6:45 dont connect the corners

I watched this video a while ago and used to the farm in my world, I decided to come back and watch the tutorial again after Grian mentioned it

Thanks Wattles this is a nice farm with good results from 5 levels, but I got fed up of everything being blown up fairly regularly, so I've made the bottom three block levels of the killing chamber and the whole AFK platform out of obsidian. It's wide enough so I can walk around the outside and I've prevented myself from getting too close with floor slabs around the hopper perimeter. The hoppers are also covered with slabs so I get the XP without it hanging around in the hoppers. So far so good.

The worst part is, this works better than the farms I built that's *supposed* to be for spiders.

I made this on bedrock and I made 14 gunpowder in 30 minutes(hard mode) any tips on how to increase spawn rates?

I play on Bedrock and replaced the carpets with iron bars. No need to change the pattern. It stopped nearly all spider spawns. Also, the few spiders that do spawn die from falling but the creepers don’t. Not sure why but it’s pretty convenient. I built it last week and it works great so far! I did 5 levels but I would consider scaling it up eventually with either more levels, or creating another one right next to it to keep all the spawning platforms in the right range from the afk platform. I also opted to kill with a looting sword rather than camp fires and I definitely think that’s the way to go.

I just finished building this farm in bedrock and it’s not working at all for me. All I’m getting is the occasional spider. Anyone have any tips to make it work on bedrock?

I think I have managed to fix the issue with spiders spawning done a lot of testing and haven’t had 1 spider spawn since I’m on bedrock BTW

I dont know what I did wrong, I followed the build to a tee and the creepers dont drop as commonly as shown in this video. Where could I have gone wrong, I made the entire build in Polished Deepslate so does the block affect anything?
