**UPDATE:** As of 1.18.30 every farmer (on each layer) needs a composter to compost seeds and turn them into bonemeal! Villagers no longer throw seeds to one another. To prevent them getting a full inventory, put a composter thats linked to the correct farmer, somewhere near the hoppers in the corner:) Thanks for watching this tutorial :D I hope you enjoy this in your worlds! 😊 I got another mob farm planned for next week or so, so you can look forward to that too!
We can farm wheat through villagers if we throw 8 stacks of seeds to the farmer villager and place a hopper minecart below the farm land we will be able to farm wheat and no need of two villagers also
Alternate title: Farmer works every day without getting sleep trying to be helpful and sharing his harvest, but a humanoid pig with an incurable disease from hell uses modern technology like funnels made out of the dead body of a metal guard used to protect people like farmers to not have to care about food.
As someone who has built this for all 4 types of crop, I suggest that if you are going to farm beetroot or bread/wheat, make the villager in the cell a farmer, so that the villager harvesting crops will throw seeds, and prevent him from not being able to pick up the crops, because of his inventory being full of seeds
Hint for faster groth of the crops: replace one layer of glass on one side with bee hives. On the opposite side of it that replace the glasswall with a dirtlayer with any typs of flower on it. Encase the flowers to the outside so no bee can escape. The bees will cross the field to get to the flowers and on their way back they will lose pollen onto the field, applying a softish bonemeal effect onto the crops.
I'm a big promoter of pumpkin versatility, so 2:55 made me smile big. Thank you for featuring the most efficient 15 lumen block, the Jack-o-lantern! This block really needs to find it's way into every build anyone does ever, imo.
Wheat solution. Put the wheat farm at the bottom level, with only the farmer, hopper minecart on rails underneath, all the harvested wheat gets picked up once the farmers inventory is full and all the other farms will stack as normal.
If this isn't working for you (which I have seen a lot in the newer comments), put a hopper minecart between the fences above the middle hopper. This should collect all items thrown by the farmer and prevent the non-farmer from collecting items. Yes, if you have more than one layer the villagers will try to breed but they won't be able to and will eventually go back to work. This shouldn't break the farm, but it may slightly reduce the rates.
@@ZabulGaming Reset the workstations and make sure they connect to the correct villagers. Make sure the villagers have access to them as well and are able to work, especially the farmer. Check Silent's pinned comment. Good luck!
@@4_wen_ur_bord603maybe your hopper minecraft is too high and the farmer villager cant see the hungry villager. You can replace the top hopper blocks with the minecart hopper
Ive got a 4 layer version, potatoes, bread, carrots and beatroot. My bread and beetroot layers were working fine, but the other two werent. I tried adding the composters, and that didnt do much (i believe i installed them before seeds had become an issue) And also replaced villagers. Now even the beetroot layer isnt working. On the broken layers, food just sits until it despawns. From other comments it seems this is caused by the clean villager grabbing stuff. For now this is fine, it gets me enough to feed everyone on my realm as long as i keep fiddling with it and replacing villagers. But yeah, im at the point that i think this farms a bit out of date. Still functional enough, especially with a breeder nearby, but yeah.
You could also set this up next to a gold farm, have the villager harvest carrots then you can just turn them into golden carrots and you don’t have to buy them all the time from villagers Also amazing video your videos have helped me understand farms and red stone better
I kinda wish I did it this way. My gold farm and carrot farm were located really far from each other, so I crafted the gold into blocks and transported it. Would've saved me tons of crafting if I had just farmed the carrots at the same place as the gold & crafted golden carrots on-site.
Already did. I built the quad iron farm for all the hoppers id need and made this farm into 4 chunks. Of course they are each in their own. Have so many potatoes i have tons of bonemeal.
If you don't wanna make a micro crop farm, then you can make an auto wheat farm too- Follow this one chunk shape or a 9×9 area and plant seeds under the farmland add Minecart hopper collection system and stuff, you need only one villager(farmer), throw 8stacks of wheat seeds at him and his inventory will fill up and then whenever he harvests he will only pick up seeds or sometimes not even seeds and the minecart hopper will collect all of the wheat and deliver it in the chest. Preferably combine it with this layered one and have the wheat farm on the bottom layer.
Hello there ! ☺️ for those who have a problem with their other villager ending with a full inventory. Here an update on what i did : - first i try to put minecart on top of the hoppers to catch the crop. It seem to work but i didn't try it in the long run. I thing some rare time the villager still get to catch crops so it will propably broke at some time. Still you will get a lot of food before that. - I put a composter and made the trap villager a farmer. It seem that he can use the composter to turn the crop he catch to bonemeal (🤷 i'm not sure about this). Same as before, it work at first but in the long run it broke. - because i put my crop farm on top of my trading hall and below my iron farm i didn't have enought space to put a minecart collecting system. Plus I find this constantly broken because of chunck loading and unloading. But i gess for those who are confortable with this it can work. You can just put one villager to harvest the crop and it will run alone. - In the end i use an allay. This little guys are amazing ! I put a note block and three hopper around it on a side of the farm. Then i make a hopper clock below the system and connect it to the note block. It work like a charm ! The allay can put the crop outside the hopper range but he end up picking it back and throwing it again so it end up in the hopper at some point. I only put one allay since it look enought but you can put more. There is probably better clock than a hopper clock but i'm not really good at redstone 😅 Anyway, I hope it help you and i wish someone make a video on a crop farm with allays ❤️ this guys are just to cute !
This build is amazing! Amazing output! I used this build to make an auto crop farm villager breeder that send babies directly to a villager pit in the nether hub. Add two farmers to the bottom layer of your bottom layer wheat farm and you will not have many issues with them not harvesting the wheat after some time. Also have added silents iron golem farm right on top making it an auto food/breeder/iron farm and all works flawlessly.
Broken in 1.20 *edit* To reduce the chance of the non-farmer picking up crops, don't grow anything on the blocks right besides the hopper. They can grab items on the ground through the underside of the hopper. May be handy to keep a set of rails from your breeder to the farm, incase it breaks and you need fresh villagers.
This is going to be so helpful early mid and late game. With a gold farm and the carrot version of this farm we won't ever need to manually farm again.
Since the villager crop farms broke before, I mainly use the farmer to trade and get golden carrots for food by using your melon/pumpkin farm for emeralds. It's an easier food source imo.
For anyone who is having problems with the villagers not working at all, try to encourage the farmers by giving them crops and farm the crops out of the dirt by yourself (without picking the items), he will eventually going to plant those. If he is still not working put a bed on a side of the farm and shortly after take it out (do this step regulary until he starts to work). If he is not giving to the other villager the crops don't panic because the farmer villager is probably with his inventory empty so he needs to plant and replant more times. During the night ,at least with me, the villagers don't work so try to sleep more times
@@MugsyHD did you ever figure it out? I’m having the same problem, farmer villager inventory full so he just leaves the carrots on the floor and won’t throw them to the other villager
It seems villager sometimes can pick up crops before hopper picks up. They can pick up even if there is a wall between them, so the range might be buffed.
@@metallikalm4336 I found a half solution. When the crops went all the way up trapped villager the farmer would occasionally break the crops near him the stuck guy would pick them up making him not hungry. I replaced the floor blocks as far as 3 blocks away from his box with path blocks. This keeps stray crops away from the stuck villager. I tried with other blocks but it seems like only blocks with the same height as the farmland (hense the path blocks) allow for the villager to come over and share. I hope that makes sense lol
@@ABeiji123 what if I put a minecart hopper between the fence so the trap villager don't pickup some crop cause I think my villager is full of crops in his inventory that's why the farmer villager don't share
For wheat, seed-lock the farmer with 8 stacks of wheat seeds and use a hopper/hopper-minecart collection system. Build farm as follows: hopper layer, hopper-minecart on rail, farmland, piston the farmland down into the hopper-minecart. Reduces height by one block. May need to piston each block as you go to avoid bouncing minecarts. Water as normal. Do NOT allow farmer to actually reach composter. Excess seeds can be converted to bonemeal by the farmer.. Farmer will harvest and replant, but collect only seeds. All wheat (or beetroot) will be collected by the dirt-logged hopper-minecarts and funneled through the hoppers to your collection output. No redstone needed for this design...just a LOT more iron.
If you fill a villager inventory with seeds and run rails underneath then the villagers won’t pick up wheat and a hopper minecart will collect the wheat. Thus a wheat farm is possible.
Thank you so much! Even though it took me five hours to get the villagers due to dying, being zombiefied (we just started the world so we dont have potions yet), or accidentally killing them, breeding problems. Finally got the villagers, and it works like a charm!
The problem I found is the farmers inventory gets filled with seeds so he can't pick up wheat. He doesent throw the seeds to the villager that's why. So I'll recommend using potatoes and carrots
Put blocks all the way around hoppers so that the villagers cannot ever pick up crops (they can with the current design). The farmers can still throw crops. Just to be sure, I'd also add hopper minecarts on top of hoppers.
As of 3/13/24, I cannot get this to work. Built correctly. Chunk aligned. Empty inventory bred villagers. Included composter at each level per update. Even removed crops closet to 2nd villager to avoid issues. Reset with all new villagers twice. No matter what -- farmer villager eventually stops picking up crops within a day.
If your villagers start trying to breed with villagers on different layers, just add a layer of solid blocks, because for some reason they can see through farmland sometimes
For some reason my farmer villager stops farming and just stares at the glowstone I use and doesn't even move unless I push them around, any way to fix this?
You can actually make a automatic villager wheat farm. Give lots of seeds to the farmer villager so that their inventory gets full of seeds, so next time he breaks wheat, he'll only pick up the seeds and not the wheat, place hopper minecarts below the farm to collect the wheat, hope this helps :D
This is much simpler than the crop farm I built a year ago and so easy I think I could build it without having to pause 1000 times like I do on most tutorials I follow. Great job. Looking forward to new mob farm getting the popcorn 🍿 ready.
Hello silentwisperer, I would just like to know where did you find the resource pack for the arrows on the hoppers. Also yet another great video keep up the good work.
It’s been about 4 minecraft days and there’s still nothing in my chest. The farmer hasn’t given anything to the hungry villager but my farmer is definitely working
@@minecraftvids3241 yes, I run rails with hopper minecarts under the farm. I start out with villagers with empty inventories, depending on the farm I'll throw them enough stacks of seeds/carrots/etc to fill up their inventories. Once their inventories are full they harvest and drop, the minecart underneath does the rest.
Would it work better in the end dimension? Because… ya know, bees work all the time in the end implying that it’s always day, meaning villagers will not try to sleep/ stop harvesting crops
Yo iswaz going to ask the same so i scrolled on the comment section to see if anyone thought about that , i think theres gotta be a problem about that since silent didnt mention nothing about doing the build in the end , as far as i know there are some troubles with linking villagers in both nether and end but since this farm only lock thems on a profession and then break the workstation i would assume that there couldnt be a problem linking workstations. The problem with villagers in other dimensions besides the overworld is that they unlinck when u enter or exit said dimensions.
Has anyone used this in 1.17? I have made sure my farm is chunk aligned and I am trying to use it for wheat and seeds. I have 2 farmer villagers, but for some reason the one picking them up will not toss anything to the other villager. I made sure they were both fresh villagers when I started and I turned them into farmers.
I think the hungry villager theory doesn't work that well for me, go the hopper minecart. Some villagers don't share but they always drop when they are full
Hey silent, I've been testing this in a creative world for about an hour now and for some reason the farmer villager is leaving a lot of carrots on the ground and doesn't seem to be giving the other villager the crops or at least not very many, maybe a stack a day. I've done everything right by including a composter and the secondary villager even has a profession too. I know that the secondary villager is a hungry villager because I spawned it in with a spawn egg so it could not have picked up any crops. Please help if you can
Help, I’ve made two layers, they both have carrots and the upper one is fine, but the first one harvests the carrots but doesn’t pick them up. I gave him a composter and he’s linked to it, what do I do Now either of them work
He probably already has food in his inventory, and will not be considered hungry so the farmer won't throw any food to them. To fix it I would recommend killing your villager and getting a baby villager and wait for it to grow up. Edit: They will not throw any food until the entire field is planted
Someone help me please, my villager' doesn't give the seeds to the hungry villager & after some time, the farm stopped producing bread, because the villager's inventory is full of wheat seeds 😔
Great farm which I’ve done a 6-tall stack of in my realm, was wondering if the villagers produce seeds aswell so it can be used for a passive bonemeal source too, thanks
Does this still work on bedrock? and from the update all farms need a composter? I added a hopper minecart underneath a single layer because even after turning the second villager into a zombie and curing it I only had 30 potatoes, hopper cart is picking up a lot more.
I did one layer, fully works 100% goodjob, but when I did another layer, the villager only dropped 2 stacks, after that he didn't anymore. I've waited for around an hour yet still no carrot was in my chest. Hoppers are working perfectly.
If you're having issues getting the farmer to give the other villager crops, take note of these: 1.Make sure your villagers have empty inventories BEFORE you even start building the farm, one way you can insure that is by building Silent's villager breeders and using the villagers it produces for the farm. 2.DON'T place fences on the hoppers they don't work anymore instead place a wall on the center (second) hopper and hopper minecarts with rails below them on the first and last (the hoppers facing the glass wall) this insures that the villager inside the pod does not pick up the crops I tried my best to make it as clear as possible hope it helps! and apologies if my English is not good.
@Shadow_outofcontext hey, villager farms like this don't work anymore, so your better off putting a farmer in a box and having rails with a hopper minecart underneath
This is happening to me as well. And he harvests and leaves wheat lying around. Thankfully my wheat farm is on the bottom level, so I’ve added an iron door with buttons on either side, so when this happens I just go in and clear the ground again.
Set up a hopper minecart rail system under your wheat farmland and it will collect all the wheat for you. I actually think it's best to give a fresh farmer villager with empty inventory 8 stacks of wheat seeds so that he cant make bread with the wheat. Farmer villagers have 8 inventory slots so fill them up with wheat seeds as I said and then he will leave the wheat drops on the field that can then be collected up by a hopper minecart rail system that's set up right under the farmland. The farmer will keep replanting the wheat for you.
@@21nspired Good idea! Not as if I need bread anyway, the potato farm above it is working so well that I’m thinking of routing them into an automatic composting system. Then the bonemeal can feed sugar cane, bamboo and kelp farms.
Aight.... I did it- I had problems with the villagers not giving food to each other. I was gonna kill the one in the corner but I gave it sometime. I looked away and it worked- THANKYOU!!!
Hey so i built a bread villager farm but after some time they don't pickup the wheat. I am guessing this is because his inventory is filled with seeds. Do you know how to fix this issue?
I was using this farm, and it worked well for a few days. Built a six layer chunk aligned farm on a realm, and it worked well. Got over a double chest of potatoes and carrots, and about 13 and a half stacks of bread, but all of the sudden the farm stops working. All six of the farmers have full inventories, and aren’t giving any food. I tried resetting the village and it still didn’t work. Gave them all composters for the 1.18.30 update, didn’t work either. Although, the wheat farmers started giving bread again, but only a little, even with their inventories filled. Can you help? Thanks!
Lol whoever liked this made this kind of ironic. 3 minutes ago, I just killed all the villagers in the farm, because it was broken, and screwed with my iron farm
my wheat and beetroot villagers aren’t picking up the wheats and beetroots but only the crops seeds. but potatoes and carrots are fine for some reason. can anyone help? :(
Doesn't work anymore for all i can tell. It's expensive but if you're mid/late game you don't care -> Just chunk align the farm and use minecart hoppers + rails under the fields. Fill the inventory of the farmers with the stuff you want them to harvest ( 8 stacks, only seeds when it's for wheat or beetroots [ if you don't wanna do that for carrots and patatoes it's fine but for the two others you have to, or at least it's better to do so ) that way they won't have any space left in their inventory to pick up anything ( beside what they need to replant it ) and you'll collect all of it with your minecarts. Also that allows you to get seeds ( bonemeal why not ) and wheat instead of bread, this last one becoming a completely useless item at some point. It'll take more space, it'll be annoying to do, but at least you won't have to care about it ever again. You only need one bed to make a village, no composter ( except to convert the villagers into farmers + 1 trade ). Have fun.
Doesn't for me. I even tested it in a creative world in the good settings. Good for you if it still works for you. I did what i wrote and i haven't had any issue since tho.
My villager doesn’t pick up the wheat anymore also beets only potatoes what could I be doing wrong? Ignores wheat and plants the seeds but doesn’t make bread. The villager farming beets does the same thing as the wheat villager:( (My villager doesn’t deliver the seeds only bread)
I built this recently and the farmers are attracted to the other farmers above and below them and even thought there is a block between both of them, ive even tried placing a slab roof, than dirft block and yet they still path find above and below each other. I feel like its a bug in the game but im not sure
Awesome will definitely be using this in my new base I’m making I’m going to need to make a breeder luckily I have a gold supply of villagers I’d say 300 blocks away from my base I also am going to be Conquering a woodland mansion at some point I have been trading with a cartographer to get the map anyways great video and straight to the point
Everything is working expect the Farmer is not throwing any of the potatoes to the other villager. It's been several minecraft days and the whole field is planted
Give a fresh farmer with nothing in his inventory 8 stacks of wheat seeds and he will not be able to make bread and will instead leave the wheat laying on the field which allows you set up a hopper minecart and rail system under the farmland to collect all the wheat for you.
why is my farm not working, I took villagers from a villager farm and put them inside this farm, but they already had professions and changed afterwards, did i do something wrong?
If your farmers aren’t farming I went in the farm and gave them a stack of the food they are planting I’ve only done carrots and potatoes so far and it’s working like a charm
