Thanks for watching! This sorter has been in the works for a WHILE and i'm super happy with how it turned out! :D please note you can't expand the system beyond 9 chests wide (just build two sorters for that) and if you expand the system vertically, you'll need to add more comparators to the pulse extender (1 per chest basically)! I hope you enjoy customizing and building up your system! 😋I have ideas for some smaller more modular designs you might see soon:) Also, leave a like or maybe subscribe! It helps the channel a ton!

Just finished building this on my boyfriend’s Minecraft realm. It works flawlessly on bedrock. Largest redstone build I’ve ever tackled, but it’s extremely satisfying to see the effort paid off. It took me 7.5 hours to collect all of the materials needed and prepare the construction site, and then four hours to carefully construct it in survival (those damn activator rails!!). After successfully following your perfect tutorial, I am feeling more inspired to try and tackle some even larger machines! Thanks for the hard work! Keep it up! :)

Just built 2 of these on opposite sides of my storage room and linked them together with some hoppers under the floor. Building the 2nd was more challenging since I wanted to mirror the other side, so all the redstone near the end of the tutorial was backwards. Next is to build a shulker unloader and attach it to the input for this storage system. Can't wait to finish getting this setup so I can start using it.

I finished this sorting system a few days ago - it replaces a mega system I had that proved just too laggy. (I'm still trying to load and sort the chests with the items I want to filter) I'm amazed at how much stuff it sorts and stores in such a small amount of space! Thank you Silent for your big brain and fabulous tutorials. I really appreciate them. I did hit one small issue when I first fired up the sorter but quickly and easily identified the issue (I have a small brain so I'd placed a repeater instead of a comparator) I'm now off to upgrade my raid farm which broke a while back (lots of fun with ravagers smashing all the leaves on my rooftop and the rest of the raid spawning where it shouldn't) I'm very confident that your latest tutorial will sort things out! Many thanks :)

Just built in my survival world, and finally came up with a category system that works for my balance of items. This design is the KING of sorting systems. Compact, lagless, consistent, and so easy to use. The only cons I’ve experienced are that the build is somewhat easy to mess up, and the speed is slower than other hopper-speed systems. But, that slow speed is essential to this thing being 100% reliable all the time. Not once have I seen it miss an item. Kudos on such an elegant design, and thanks Silent for everything you do!! 🙏🏼

I just completed this after having to scrap a previous design that quit working on me for some reason. Silent's design is smaller, cheaper (in terms of materials), less complicated to build and has almost double the capacity of my old system. More importantly, it works flawlessly. I only had one issue with my build. I inadvertently reversed the direction of one of the repeaters in the pulse extender, so when I did my first test run, nothing worked. Everything flowed from the Input Chest to the first hopper and stopped. I re-watched the video and once I found my error and fixed it, the sorter works like a charm! This thing is awesome! I can't say enough about Silent's work. I have built many of his systems and they are all quality work. Easy to follow tutorials for really useful systems. Thank you for your work!

Bedrock 1.19. I needed to make a modification to the redstone on the hopper line on top of the entire build. (22:59) It was dropping items too fast, so I slowed down to two redstone repeaters that connects to that redstone line, from 1 tick and 3 ticks, to 4 ticks each. This slowed down the hoppers and I no longer had any chest skips and worked flawlessly. not sure if this helps anyone else struggling or if this was an update to Minecraft, or if I had an error in the build somewhere.

Hey Silent, idea for a future video: you could review all of your past item sorters and rate them on their strengths and weaknesses. I feel like the one in this video is maybe slower than a basic hopper line, and wouldn't be as useful for when you have thousands of 1 item, but it is super useful for the items you're not farming and just need to keep organized.

Bulk storage has it's place, for like stone. But, for all the variants it's unreasonable to think you need a full chest for cobble stairs and a separate chest for slabs and a separate for their moss variants. That's what this system is for

Thanks so much for this! I had just built your design from a couple years ago when you came out with this! The one issue that I had was that the clock was too fast, each hopper torch wasn't getting the chance to turn off twice before the next one did. I think this might be due to my realms lag... I fixed it by increasing the clock time by 2 ticks, and increasing the delay between torch layers by 1 tick. now it works like a charm!

A good use for this is as an extension to a traditional storage system for basic materials, for all of the stairs, slabs etc and all the colours of lots of decorative blocks, because though it can sort everything, it doesn't have much space, and having to mess around with putting stuff back would be annoying for something like cobblestone or wood.
@tomhancox8196

This is exactly what I'm using it for. As an extension to my mega storage system, for all the annoying blocks and things that don't need 4 double chests for 😅 needed a 15 long version but can't be bigger than 9 long. So i built this last night and was having the same issue as many others. The first chest filled up fine. once i filled it with single items to test the 2nd chest down, items started bleeding through. the timing seemed off on every other row of redstone torches. Having then read up about chunk aligning and realizing that every 16 blocks is a chunk, I cloned the whole structure using a structure block and moved it to coordinates 256, -60, 128 on my flat world. (multiples of 16) Make sure to build it out into positive, so from 256, 128 to 268, 140 as an example. Not sure if the height is also a factor in chunk aligning but seems to be ok for me at the height shown in this build tutorial. Now everything is working smoothly with no bleeding. If you have issues with the rails rotating as I did, rotate the whole thing 90 degrees and it stops happening. Thanks for the awesome build!!

This is such a good item sorter I couldn’t wait for the tutorial after you showed this design for the first time, so I built it from what I could see on your previous video! It’s mostly the same… If you don’t want the red stone dust on top of the hoppers, you can just move the 1 tick pulse circuit down to the input chest hopper line (still powered by the same mono stable), this guarantee’s you don’t flood the system, and also prevents a backlog from building up in the top hoppers, so you don’t need to worry about having a longer delay on the main timer just to ensure the backlog is cleared, i had to add the same 4 + 1 timing to the input of this moved circuit though, else the items didn’t go in to the desired chest. I also fixed the snaking hopper lines on top so they don’t snake at all, you just need to arrange side by side double chests connected to each hopper output on the underside and have alternating upper and lower hopper lines, the chests enable you to move items to the next line over, the upper hopper line goes to the top of the double chest feeding one item elevator and the next hopper line goes in to the front most side of the chest on the very next item elevator.
@JasonA74
@JasonA74 2 года назад
Same. I ran a line of redstone torches under the bottom rail line and connected them to a button, that way I can trigger all the dropper elevators with a few button presses and force all the items out. Not a fix but at least it lets me get access to the items.
@zenman16
@zenman16 2 года назад
@@JasonA74 the trick here is to make sure you have the same timings a Silent, ensure you are taking your timing reading from the hopper in the hopper clock (originally I was taking it from the dropper and the timing was kinda buggy, I could only get it working with a 4 high chest stack), then take a line from the main clock output and invert it with a r/s torch (so when the sorter is off, this torch is on), from this line you use the same 4+1 repeater delay to power a r/s lamp, you then have an observer reading the lamp and a r/s torch on the back of the observer, just arrange this setup so that the last torch is next to the hopper on your input chest… this tiny circuit generates a trailing edge 1 tick pulse to let only 1 item out of your input chest on every cycle of the main timer circuit. Watch out for observers or comparators reading red stone signals across chunk borders as this causes an unpredictable timing issue, I believe it introduces an additional tick every now and then. My sorter crosses a border on both x and z axis and I had to move the whole system back 1 block to resolve this as the observers reading the rails would double tick randomly. Not had any issues on the other border.

Just did a full build of it with the same problem as Alleiradayne, I don’t know if it is something to do with a new bug since the update for Bugrock or not. Second hopper from the input chest is being locked by the torch across from it and not delaying. Torch removed and of course they lock at the top chest before hitting the sorting chests. Correction, just got it running. I vote on a bug causing the issue or maybe from some part of the system having power due to build timing. I placed 12 items in the second chest bypassing the input chest and first two hoppers. A couple items were stuck in the top chest but, 11 items went on to the proper chest. After running a few items through the second chest and getting all the red stone circuits flashing and removing all the items I put in from those first two top chests everything started running great without anything getting stuck without bypassing the very first chest. The whole system runs great! Thank you Silent! P.S. you may have to prime the system with a few items to get it running the first time.

Just finished making it. Currently, the items get stuck in the second hopper going out of the input chest. The redstone torch that's supposed to regulate the flow of items is just stopping them. Doesn't blink - doesn't allow the items to pass through. So, after fairly 3 to 4 hours - I'm stuck and need to troubleshoot this. Edit: The comparator going out of the first hopper is working and the pulse extender does get the signal. I'm not sure why the redstone torch doesn't turn off to allow the items to pass. Edit 2: Figured it out. I had placed the comparator going out of the hopper (the one connected to the dropper with one item) incorrectly. Fixed it and everything is working like a charm.

Edit: Silent's design requires the hoppers that feed the chests to be signaled in a particular order. Because of this, heights need to be an even number of chests. To use an odd number of chests, you need a specific delay to the signal up top that feeds the hoppers. Before the repeaters in parallel, add 2 repeaters in series with the first on one tick, the second on 4 just like with the rail lines in the system. It will take a little creativity to squeeze them, but it's not too bad. Someone in other comments was asking for timing info, here is what I figured out while messing with this to see about customizing the design. Timing info is that the monostable generates a pulse that is on for 4 ticks and off by 6. The rail lines powered by the 2 repeaters in series create a 4 tick pulse delayed by 1 tick. The observers will tick on the "rising" and "falling" edge of the pulse and their pulses will be half a tick. The redstone torches get shut off for a half tick in time with the observers which is just enough for an item to fall through a hopper. When a hopper is locked, the items can still flow through to a chest if there is a slot available for the item in the locked hopper. The horisontal rows need to alternate for the system to run and the system has them offset by 1 tick. The top pair of repeaters powering the hoppers on top look like they are there to strengthen the signal while maintaining its 4 tick pulse length. It might be possible to mess with this pair alone to deal with the even/odd slice height issue but it's also pretty cheap and easy to just add the pair of repeaters I mention above to do that instead. Silent really optimized the design and wiring for this layout of 6 high, 9 wide.
@burnssy112
@burnssy112 Год назад
Yeah I tried customizing the design by adding an extra row and it did not work
@splynncryth
@splynncryth Год назад
@@burnssy112 the main issue with adding another slice is that you can only light up a line of rails 9 blocks long. So that’s the limit for the lines of activator rails that work the hopper ‘waterfalls’ that feed chests. You could swap these for redstone lines and make sure they are fed with repeaters to get up to 15 slices. The things that would need to change are the timings of the rest of the existing repeaters to account for a 1 tick delay, and I think the item elevators will need to have a gap between them and the rails that got swapped for redstone dust so the signal can’t trigger the droppers (I think the redstone signal staying confined to the rails is a big part of why Silent used them). I might mess around with it more later to see if there is a good way to extend past 9 slices short of building a second module. But it sounds like building a second module is what most players do.

@ultraredraptor
@ultraredraptor 2 года назад
@@sydneygroom4150 I just omitted rows to make it shorter. Everything basically repeats so just stop when you have the height you want. Still do the top the same. For width I am not sure cause I changed that quite drastically for my build I have it rotate around 2 corners with 3 sections at 5 long so it was very different underneath for me. But looking at the video again you should be able to cut it off where you want just make sure that pulse extender connects up still I suggest following the redstone when you build it. It's pretty simple once you understand how it all interacts. Basically you are alternating power to the hoppers as you send items through. So items stop for a brief moment to see if they can go into the chest and if not then when the hopper below is powered off briefly it goes to the next. Then it hits the bottom where it goes back up the item elevator and the hoppers the top for the first 5 columns move it over one. Then the process repeats.

Moving this thing in survival isn't gonna be fun lol. I'm on a single player world and it seems that after I fill up the chest on top, the item leakage gets really bad. The items are split 50/50 between the lower 2 chests. Fortunately, I'm still on the testing stage. I use the sort one item chests, I'd say both are pretty much gonna work most the time. I think this one took slightly longer for stuff to filter through as it has to check more things, but all in all I would say choose it based on what kind of items you want to put in it. I chose the One item per chest sorting system as the things I put in it were mostly things like blocks such as cobblestone that I get a ton of, but this one would be better for rarer items such as ores, cooked food, etc. And to answer your first question I would say you should be able to leave the chunk as the items are in some form of device the whole time so they shouldn't despawn.

So I’ve noticed a problem after I built this, and maybe you can shed some light on why it’s happening. Some items are getting “stuck” in the droppers. I’ve noticed that if I throw a bunch of stuff in the input chest, not everything is getting sorted and also not being sent to the output chest. I started checking hoppers, other chests, and droppers, and noticed that the 6th stack of droppers (the column after the break between the set of 5 and the set of 4) always has something just sitting in them. I think it’s happening in others as well, but there’s no way to access those because they’re hidden by other parts of the build. If I throw another stack of something in the input chest, some of the stuck items will continue on, but not always. I usually have to take the items out of the droppers manually. Any thoughts?

Near the beginning of this video, Silent mentions chunk-aligning this system to prevent breaking. After not chunk-aligning the system (the chunk border went literally down the middle of it, dividing the left side from the right), I can assure you that this is necessary. It de-syncs the redstone flow along the rails that control the sorting mechanism and the redstone line that triggers the pulse extender when moving items between slices. Chunk-align these complicated builds, friends, and learn from my failure. :D

@@corpoltiara1299 I never got the first dropper to activate properly D= built a dropper elevator by itself, worked great! Rebuilt on the machine and primed it but it didn't work. Ended up scrapping the machine after 3 days of trouble shooting and used the jcplayz design. Really simple and super effective although it's nowhere near as pretty as this behemoth lol

@@CoffeeLady9000 having the same issue except I use the jack o lanterns, maybe only sea lanturns work? idk but for me they get stuck in the very first dropper in the whole system, im going to attempt to get get rid of the blocks and jack o lantern between the redstone and repeaters to see if that changes anything

Like others I’m having trouble with items ‘skipping’ their intended chest, I think either due to realm lag messing up the timings or possibly chunk alignment issues. The locking-torch flashes therefore don’t seem to sync properly. Has anyone found fixes that maybe involve slowing the clock and sorting repeater timings to get it working more reliably?

i had sum problems after completing the build during testing/filling. it was leaking items passed the chest i set for that item. empty out the left side item lift as kyle mentioned below, that helped me. i also disconnected the redstone sitting on the hoppers at the very top. those two things fixed my setup. hope that helps, good luck.

@@maserific9916 it's the stack of droppers that lift items. Look in those droppers for trapped items & remove them.

If you build this, absolutely chunk align it. I built the whole thing without doing so and it leaked items into lower chests. After a couple frustrating hours of trouble shooting, I realized a the repeater line was on a chunk border. Tore it down, built it again in one chunk, and it’s great. I suppose if the chunk border had crossed the chests or something it might not have been that big of a deal. But a chunk border in the wrong place will absolutely throw the timings off
