how high did you build it off of the water?

@@ThatDudeEthan_ building above the water is to avoid spawn proofing cave, so the height don’t affect the rate For me I juste put the bottom just 1block above water

what would be the maximum scaffolding you can place to build your afk spot?

@@HockeyLegend-wd4yi You need to be standing at exactly 96 blocks above the top of this farm in specific. Check the video at 4:01, and you will see he used one stack and a half of scaffolding (64+32 = 96). I hope this helps.

@@HockeyLegend-wd4yi It would depend of how far you are from the spawning area. Keep in mind that monsters won't spawn in a distance inferior to 24 blocks, if I correctly recall, from you and the spawn rates are capped at 70 mobs at once. So in any space betwee 24 and 128 blocks from where you are standing all kinds of mobs can spawn in every direction from you (in caves for example) and that would make much less Creepers spawn inside your farm. Not only that, but once the few creepers that spawned in the farm die they could be replaced by a spider, for example, appearing outside your farm and that prevents new creepers from appearing. I suggest you just use the farm while you are doing anything else like watching TV, walking the dog or other activities away from the PC. What you could do is make the AFK spot bigger/wider and build some automatic farm for sugarcane and maybe bamboo for example. Then you would turn sugarcane into paper for fireworks while standing in the very same place you are gathering gunpowder. Bamboo is just a complimentary item that you could collect to make more scaffolding later or "all purpose" planks for chests/barrels or use as furnace fuel if you need/want.

bro its not working for me i afked for 20 mins and got 8 gunpowder and i built it over an ocean. and yes i did 1.20.5 im doing this on a server tho. only me on the server when im testing it so it should work perficly fine but it wont work any tips you can give me?

look up the raid farm vid. With looting 3 you can get up to 40 emerald per cycle (30 sec). I build the older raid farm.

I made mine without the roof then slid on top real quick cuz they do run once in awhile

Most people don't need arrows, string or flesh, and want it to be full auto, not manual. This is a great farm that cuts out useless clutter when all you need is mats for rockets and tnt. Wither skeleton farms are a much better source of bones if you want a manual option, and a general mob farm is one of the worst XP options you could waste your time building

A mob farm gives a lot of stuff, but it gives a little of each so people make specific ones to grind out more of that item

Light up caves and a large area on the surface around the farm

Build far from any cave or dark place, middle of the ocean and up high should be the best option

Even if the chuck is loaded, creepers won't spawn if you are more than 128 blocks away

why

mobs can despawn if there is a distance of 128 blocks between you and them. mb, you counted from the roof of the farm. but mobs fall down so it can make a distance more than 128 blocks in total (128 from the roof + 25 for killing chamber underground)
