This spawner works well but needs many improvements. Here is what I did. First, in the kill chamber, replace the trap doors with stone slabs so you only see the mobs feet. Even baby zombie pigmen won't attack you this way. Second, replace all the trap doors that sit atop the stone wall in the "U" around the Iron Golem with stone slabs. This will prevent the skeletons from killing the iron golem with their arrows. The mobs will still see the golem if you did it right. Also remove the close-left and close-right stone walls in front of the pit entrance to prevent skeletons from getting stuck. Be sure to keep the middle stone wall block to prevent magma slime spawning. Third, move the turtle egg to directly in front of the iron golem. It should replace the stone slab on top of the stone wall so the egg is between the pit entrance and iron golem. Be sure to put stone slabs besides the egg on the left and right so the mobs don't break the egg. Don't use wooden slabs because the blazes can burn them up. Fourth, in the kill chamber, build the floors and ceilings with slabs to prevent mobs from spawning in it. Or place torches everywhere, whatever works. Finally, this spawner doesn't need to be in a soul sand valley. I built mine in a nether waste biome and it works really well after improvements. The soul sand valley biome is easier to spawn proof... but if it takes you 10 minutes just to get there, it might be worth it to do the extra work spawn proofing at a closer nether fortress like I did. Ideally, find a nether fortress surrounded by lava. If this helped you, give it a like so others can improve/fix theirs, thank you.
Hey, ive done the part with the slabs but the skeletons cant see the golem all together, could you please go into depth into how you made it so they cant shoot it but c an still see it? would be a great help
I don't know why they don't use slabs in these tutorials... I personally used sandstone slabs because if you are close to a desert, it is very easy to dig sandstone with efficiency 4 diamond pickaxe(it is like digging netherrack).
It is easy. It wouldn’t be so if it used bunch of redstone mechanics and a crap load of items. This only uses a few and the buttons are basically a must for almost every wither skelly farm to work
@@ladiesman9179 the important word here is "if". Because if you are not than wood or stone buttons are the best way, because you get them anywhere in large numbers. If you dont have a dessert, good luck getting so much sand
It is easy. The hard and better way to make this kind of farm is to spawn proof a whole radius of 128 blocks from the position you will stand to kill the skelletons. So yeah this really is the easy way, but with less reward in the end
After a lot of work i got it running fantastic. I spawn proofed all those dumb areas that were just outside the fortress. All around above and below. Roughly a chunk out from the fortress walls. They are now all forced to spawn in the farm. Once the spawning slows down because of blazes. I run roughly 64 blocks away in a straight line from the bottom of killing chamber, and wait 10 seconds or so. It resets the mobs and it starts back up again. I got 31 skulls in 30 min with looting 3. Also try lowering your render distance to 6-8 chunks. It might help.
@@thegreatgatsby2738 probably because of a new update. I haven't played in a while so I haven't tested it with new updates. The Devs don't want you to abuse game mechanics like this. So they always find ways to patch these farms. Id look up a new farm for the current update. This was for 1.20.3 around 9 months ago.
I spent 2 irl days placing buttons, spawn proofing as much as possible, did everything exactly how you said it. I get 4 skeletons every 5-10 mins at best. I placed over 12000 buttons, I'm aware the slabs were available to me after reading the comments, but i was already half way through and gotten most of the resources i needed. the fortress takes me 10 mins by minecart, which also took forever to build. I installed an xray mod to see what spawns and I see barely anything spawns in the golem area. no idea what I did wrong here, but I'm about ready to scrap this whole build and do a protal wither farm. after looking at other comments, there appears to be A LOT of people having issues with this build.
*PSA:* If you're testing this out in a creative world (or any world with cheats enabled) you can skip having to place all the buttons down individually by using the command "/fill ~10 ~5 ~10 ~-10 ~-5 ~-10 stone_button 1 replace air" *UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN YOU HAVE TILE DROP ENABLED* if you do end up executing the command with tile drop enable use "/kill @e" or "/kill @e[type=item]"
You have no idea what you're talking about. Do NOT listen to this kid. /kill @e will literally kill EVERY mob in your world, including armor stands, boats, minecarts, item frames, and your beloved pets.
For anyone who is having trouble with skeletons killing your iron golem, I have come up with a half solution. If you replace the trap doors on top of the walls with slabs, they don't seem to be able to shoot the golem. I changed my egg placement to where the slab in front of the golem used to be, instead of on top. (thanks to another commenter). I then placed 2 more slabs, 1 to either side of the egg but 1 block closer to the killing hole. So they should be flush with the ends of the walls. (I hope this makes sense)... The only thing I haven't been able to come up with yet, is how to deal with the skeleton after this. At this point, it just stays right at the edge of the wall shooting forever. So hypothetically once several have spawned, it could effect spawn rates. However also, if more spawn, they have a higher chance of shooting and killing each other.. so.. maybe it's fine? Hopefully this is able to help at least some!
i tried this but the wither skeleton stopped path finding and just gather on the side of the wall hitting the slabs nonstop. they wont run towards the killing hole anymore
hi, i change the slab infront of the iron golem for the egg but blazes still seem not to follow it, i dont understand where you placed the slabs? all i did was change the slab infornt of the golem for the egg, what then?
I've seen a lot of people have issues where using slabs causes all of the mobs to stop pathfinding to the Iron Golem, and after a lot of trial and error the only solution I got to work was going back to trapdoors and swapping out the Golem for a nametagged Piglin, which is what most other Wither skeleton farms seem to use.
i solved this by placing 4 3 block tall glass pillars in the block between the stone walls, dont know how long this solution will work but its been working for 20 mins so far
Hey, guys if you are having problems with the spawn rate then I found going back up to the glass chamber when the speed of mobs gets low a bunch more will spawn.
@archive6083 I’m a bit late but if you kill a couple mobs in the trap at the bottom after a while they may begin to fall down less often. To fix this I just went up to the glass chamber where they spawned, waited for them to spawn and then headed back down where they seem to spawn more
This is a nice video and good tutorial for the build. However, in addition to the improvements others have mentioned, I really wish he took some time to explain WHY things are done the way they are. Explain why it needs to be a soul valley; explain what the buttons do; explain what the turtle egg and golem do. It's common knowledge to some people, but not everyone, and this is a great opportunity to educate.
buttons or slabs for spawnproofing, the (hardest part) so the mobs ONLY spawn in the farm, why ss valley I dont know, golem to lure mobs towards the middle (hostile mobs hate turtle eggs), piglins hate turtle eggs so the eggs also lure mobs to the middle
I pointed this out on some other youtubers video on his little ink farm and got flamed hard lmfao. People just don't understand how much taking 10 extra seconds to explain a mechanic or why they are doing a certain thing is so viable.
@@nakid7It makes the block by block tutorial harder to follow if you include why's and how's after every step. Either that or the creator is unfamiliar with the mechanics.
just a small tip, for the spawn proofing you should use slabs instead of buttons because for every one stone/wood you get two slabs, but for buttons, you only get one.
If you find you golem is getting killed by skeletons I found that making it stand on a stone cutter rather than a block is far better as it is lower down meaning skeletons can’t hit it. However withers have to be slightly closer to agro so efficiency will decrease a lil
If you've got an iron farm already set up in your world, and you have a lot of iron blocks that you don't need, consider using iron pressure plates instead of buttons. Mining the wood for all the buttons is going to take a lot longer than if you just used the iron you saved up from an iron farm.
You’ve been killing the tutorials lately. Really appreciate the format that you present these in. Very thorough and easy to follow. Thanks for your hard work! Raid farm soon?
This farm works on 1.20.1, although is incredibly unefficient because Blazes wont stop spawning and taking away the chance from Wither Skeletons. Barely made 1 head every 5 to 10 minutes. Here is what I did to solve this. You need to replace every empty spawn place (not the walls) in the farm with Wither roses. You will need around 308, wich is almost 5 stacks. Wither roses are drop when the wither kills any mob. You can farm this by spamming snow golems into a hole and then spawning a Wither with them. The initial blast is going to kill every snow golem and drop the roses. Just be sure to stay away from it, because it deals a lot of damage. I replaced the nether bricks with soul soil to plant the wither roses. By doing this all the blazes will be killed by the roses, allowing more Wither skeletons to spawn. I higly recommend reading the rest of the commentaries, here are some tips from the people that worked for me: · Placing a second egg in front of the iron golem, to prevent Wither Skeletons not tracking the iron golem. · Lowering the trap 20 more blocks so the spawn bubble takes just the spot on the farm (if you do this. use hay bale blocks to prevent Withers from dying, then 1 block down put some rails with a minecart+hopper going around. The rails must be above hoppers, so the hopper in the minecart can pass the items from above the hay bale. From here you can make and storage system pretty easy) · Try changing the render distance to the minimum.
Just build Ianxofour's farm. It takes about 30 minutes, requires no spawn proofing, and will give you about 1000 heads in 1 night of afking it with an auto clicker and a stack of golden carrots in your offhand holding down right click. This farm is vastly more work and vastly worse drops.
I spent an hour finding a soul sand nether fortress, I then tabbed over to the video, and died when a wither skeleton was hitting me and didnt notice. I additionally didnt think to write down the coords the second I found it, great video, but RIP my gear.
@@aidenharumi1011 I’m not that smart, also I just crafted another set of netherite gear and moved on. I die a lot so I have a lot of extra gear and elytra’s on hand lmao
The fact that I was lucky enough for my nether portal to be in a soul sand valley, and 2 blocks away from a fortress is crazy. But I do need to ask, what's the fastest way to spawn so many at once up at the top? It's taking an incredibly long time just to get a couple dozen down here at once..
1.21.1 This farm works fine? in hard mode, I only had to sit in the bottom for a few second for it to be overcrowded. Got 4 wither head within 5 minutes. However, magma cubes are killing my golems and turtle eggs. So, probably going to make a wither rose skeleton farm instead. - Change the trapdoors or slabs to daylight sensors, change the block beneath iron golem to path dirt block (to prevent skeleton from killing your iron golem) - Change your render distance & simulation distance to the lowest
To help with pack spawning presumably. If there are a couple blocks outside it can spawn more via packs and since they can't *actually* spawn there you'll effectively get more inside in theory. It's the same reason guardian farms are made to be bigger than actual guardian spawn radii.
I would really recommend putting an armor stand in the killing chamber so that you can hit this an aoe damage will kill everything else. Makes this farm a lot easier to afk
Is anyone else having too many blazes spawning and they do not walk to the kill chamber? Then there is so many blazes in the spawning room that no wither skeletons spawn anymore
Blazes pathfind to solid blocks so i replaced the two unnecessary trap doors in front of the iron golem with solid blocks and I am having better success with getting blazes down
Honestly one of the best wither tutorials. Straight to the point, clear instructions - I understood it perfectly, the farm works so well, thank you so much! keep it up!
Very nice farm, thank you for sharing! I love that it's not overly complicated, so many other designs are so tough to build, and because I was building ours on a multiplayer server portals weren't an option for us (a player being nearby them causes the skeletons to despawn).
If your farm was getting one mob every minute or so, here’s a fix! 1. Be in hard mode! Harder the mode, the more mobs that spawn 2. Turn down your render distance to two chunks. I got 20 levels in 10 minutes by doing this. Hope it helps!
MAKE THE TUNNEL 40 BLOCKS DOWN INSTEAD OF 20, this increases the spawns drastically and if youre on bedrock edition your spawns will be slower anyways because there are dedicated wither spawn blocks unlike in java
DONT BUILD IT! I built this in 1.19.3 multiplayer, I'm the only one online and I'm getting dogshit rates. I've gotten about 3 skeletons in 10 minutes, everything is spawn proofed, nothing else can spawn. You're better off making one with wither roses!
Built this and it works well, was scared with portal linking but just made sure everything was good (nether portal at spawn platform -> lit sky platform -> place cobwebs light the other one to link to the pre-lit roof section from before, if correct you just open the door and walk outside AND DONT FORGET TO CLOSE IT) PLEASE READ IF ON A MULTIPLAYER SERVER I can't find the original comment but this ONLY works if you are the ONLY person online or 'in the overworld'. If everyone is in the end/nether it will work. I guess the other player in the over world basically insta-kills the withers because they are outside of the player's agro range. With portal linking you're using the skeletons coming through the portal below you & the portal above you staying rendered because of you, so mobs are able to stay alive close to that portal; with someone in the over world the skeletons de-spawn (except if the player is >128 blocks from the portal) before they can walk through the portal above you that you are keeping rendered with the 4 chunks below I didn't spawn proof a lot of the nether and have rates around 120/hr with looting 3, I also walk around all 4 of those glass blocks 4-5 times, then hit them, or just fully afk and hit every 2 minutes or so.
Is there any way to deal with the blazes there are to many of them that it turned in to a blaze farm and I don’t think any other wither rose farm works any more because I tried using dirt, nether rack, soul sand. But no mob are spawning on the even with the wither roses
I made a change since the zombified piglins werent seeing the egg and blazes would end up accumulating in the farm. Instead of placing the turtle egg above the iron golem, I placed it behind the hole and infront of the iron golem in the place where the half slab was. This allowed the zombified piglins to properly pathfind to the egg and for blazes to see the iron golem to attempt to move towards it.
@@Yummy7878 in case with "other mobs" you mean blazes etc. - inside of the fortress - thats wrong. the biome doesnt affect the chances of wither skeletons spawning inside of the fortress itself.
I spent hours building this and spawnproofing the entire fortress, just for 3 wither skeletons to spawn ever 15 minutes or so, and blazes filling up the farm because they don't get aggro'd by the iron golem or egg. Are you kidding me?
@@61funny957 I am looking into it and I think it might be patched in update Yall should let me know cause I dont wanna make it just for trhat to happen
I made this farm, but for some reasons it spawns about 3 mobs per minute. Where do i stand in order for the mobs to spawn? On top of the chests doesn't spawn any. I only get some mobspawns there if i unload and re-load the chunks and stay far far away
I built it exactly as shown in the video, there's no mobs spawning anywhere outside of the box around the fortress, but im only getting 2 or 3 mobs that spawn at a time inside the box. Why is this? How can I fix it? It's very very slow
So setting the render distance to 2 chunks helps but what's the best distance to have an afk chamber and where bellow where the killing chamber is or one at the height of the glass chamber?
If you have a good pickaxe and a beacon, make a bunch of stone buttons, but if you don't have those try making a ton of snow with a golem. You can turn snow blocks into snow by crafting them in a slab pattern.
Something I added made the skull collection much much better. If you want soley wither skeletons farm wither roses (spawn a wither in around snow golems) and place them around the structure protecting the golem. Majority of the mobs that will come down the chamber will be only wither skeletons!
It works I did it with slabs because I think I have more vision of what block I already covered. For all the people that says the skeletons kill your golem is because the skeletons shouldn´t be spawining in your farm or that is my case, I did the farm in the ss valley and skeletons don´t spawn I think is more of an error of the offspawining the fortress because it could be any single block that you left that are ruining your farm cause the game will recognize any place where the mobs can be spawned. In conclusion: I personally think is a button/slab placing error for the most people and the other thing that improve my farm definitely was lowering my render and simulation distance to the minimum. TO BE CLEAR I AM IN THE MOST ACTUAL VERSION 1.20.5 AND IT WORKS FOR ME
@@danygaby9987 I’ve been havin the same problem, and my issue is that I keep finding areas within the 160 block radius where mobs spawn that I haven’t covered with buttons; and mobs prefer to spawn away from the player than close to it, so you gotta force them to spawn closer
if anyone is having problems with slow spawn rates, I found it really effective if you afk far away (like 10-15 chunks away) until you can barely see the farm, and it works a lot faster.
To help stop skeletons killing golem, put a roof on the build and replace walls with wither roses. This means that skeletons, as they weave to shoot the golem, will die to the roses. It will also help kill some of the blazes that take up the mob cap.
The MIST USELESS FARM I tried it out and it took me 3h and then it didn‘t work well 1-4 witherskelitons per h(not wither heads yes i mean witherskelitons)
So I've recently obtaind a few stack of wither roses so will the farm work better if I replace the walls/netherbricks with netherrack and roses inside the glass in casing?
Dude wtf this farm doesn't work in 1.20, it would be completely fine if you kept the title as 1.19 where it was designed, but you changed the title just for views.
This isn't really feasible for blaze. Blaze just float around, they will never drop down and die, though on a rare occasion may float down for you to kill them, but not in any quantity that matters.
Pro tip: Use your first set(s) of skulls to get wither roses. You can do this by trapping snow golems or chickens under the portal, throwing splash potions of poison and then summoning the wither. It took me a few withers to get them all but then you can seriously upgrade this farm to the max.
I’m having a issue where there only 1 wither skeleton spawning every 20 minutes, I lowered my render distance but it didn’t seem to work can someone help pls
im having an issue where when i try to stay in the killing chamber to kill mobs, i only get blazes, but when i go back up, it starts spawning wither skeletons and piglins
I've noticed that spawn rates are very low, even after double-checking that all blocks in and around the fortress are spawn proof. Any ideas as to why this might be the case?
Got a few questions: 1. Can the crossroad be in the area where there is a small building/fence above it? 2. Does the fortress need to be 100% in a soul sand valley? i found one where its 90% in a valley and 10% in a normal nether area. Please respond soon if you can, im making the farm right now and im trying to make it fast
The only reason you want to be in a soul sand valley is to decrease the amount of spawnproofing you have to do. If the area approx. 128 blocks radius around the area you will be sitting is in the correct biome you should me fine. There also shouldnt be an issue with your #1
Hey Moretinga, great tutorial and frankly is quite underrated, I just had a question on whether if instead of buttons are we able to use slabs? Thanks and keep up the great content.
bro i literally got three full double chests of stone buttons and then i went back to look at the materials and realized it Java only. Wtf am I gonna do with all these button😭
i built this in a neather waste and no mobs are spawning and I cant see mobs around me when I look around. but when I fly around the neather they start spawing on the spawable blocks. what is wrong? it makes no sense to me that no mobs are spawning in it because the mob cap is definitely not full
So I'm having an issue where: 1. not a lot of mobs are spawning (ig not really an issue I have to spawnproof more around the fortress) 2. skeleton(s) spawned in the glass box, thus shooting the golem, slowly killing it :/ any ideas on a fix?
@@sarahmenger8729 Dogs are a good solution, use them to scare away skeletons, not attack them. The skeletons will be busy running away from the dog rather than attacking your golem.
