That's what I love to hear. I have the getting started video and also the advanced options TUTORIAl also. You will find more on my channel. Happy hunting
Oh, and one more thing. I got the 800 last month. It came on a Saturday. I put it together and took it for a walk in the park early Sunday afternoon. Within 10 minutes after turning it on I found a massive 10k gold ring. 24.3 grams, .83 ounces. I often hunt with two other people. Each with over 20 years experience. They've never found a ring that big and they've never saw a ring that big. Worth over 600 dollars. Two thirds of the detector paid for itself in the first 10 minutes of use. Find of a lifetime.
I have learned so much from you. From your videos, i went from nervous on my 800 to really understanding the machine and really enjoying myself. Thank you so much,,,,,Don, Ontario Canada,,,
That is awesome to hear Don. I am so glad I am able to help. Come join Sod Busters Metal Detecting group on Facebook so you can post your finds. Thanks for watching and happy hunting.
I want to THANK YOU for showing me how to run my 800. I have had it for 3 months (my 1st detector) and I read the book several times but really did not understand what was going on. I searched my yard practicing and found a penny. After watching your getting started with the 800 in a 20 x20 spot I found 9 square nails. 1 bottle cap, 1 rusted tin can, some copper wire, 1- 1957 quarter and a medallion from Hillsborough community College. I had been over the same spot just trying to figure out what to do. In two hours I found the above. The towel made a great difference. The only thing I did was use a couple of golf tees to help on the pinpointing. Detecting is a lot more fun today than the last few months. Roger
Thanks alot! I've had my 800 for over a year and this vid has helped to square up some of the things I was a bit flaky on. I dug a 1918 Aussie sixpence in my own backyard!
Just purchased an 800 on the 14 July 2022 and didn’t get an instruction booklet with it but this is just as good as the booklet, on the test went out to a beach near the airport in Sydney and couldn’t believe the accuracy of this machine I mean it pick little bits of tin foil(aluminium) and that was just on beach settings,I’ll be watching for more tutorials
It's been almost 4 years since I started using the 800 just came back over to find out this stuff apparently I have forgotten how to do this stuff . Thanks Bubba ✌️🤟🖖 B
Hey Larry watching this again I've been using my 800 for a few years now and I mess around with the extras but I forget sometimes so I need a reminder 😎✌️🤟🖖
I've just bought my first Equinox 800 and your explanation, of the individual menu options, is far easier to follow and understand than the 68 page PDF manual.
You do a darn good job of explaining things. Love your videos. One thing that no one mentions though. Say for example I really did a lot of strange settings in Park 1 and I want to get Park 1 back to factory settings. I used to hold the power in until it did a reset but that also erased my personal settings. What I discovered from re-reading the manual is I can factory reset individual search modes by holding down the search mode button for 5 seconds and that resets that particular search mode. Neat. Love it. Keep those great videos coming.
Thx Larry for this tutorial. Btw you change the settings for the selected mode only !!! When you change the mode, you have to refigure your machine too.
Yep, you have for sure done your research on the 800! Lol Thanks for doing that for us. Research takes time and time is either fun or money and sometimes both…. Thanks again friend. :)
Good choice to not use ground balance tracking. I've also read that it's difficult for the machine to 'recover' quick enough from target to target which will throw off your signal. Aside from that, it also depletes your battery faster.
Thank you, for all your videos, you explain the nox 800 in a language I can understand as well demonstrate its operation and setting up at my speed. Cheers David from Australia. Ps with your videos, helped to guide me in my purchase of my Nox 800.
Thanks Sodbusters, I was trying to decide whether to buy the Equinox 800 or the Vanguish 540 but after watching your videos and how much you can get out of these wonderful machines, I think I've made my decision. Even though much of this won't sink in right away but it's great to know I an come back many times....you've got yourself a new subscriber from Downunder...Cheers Dave J.
Great video on the operation of the Equinox 800 very good Explanation of advanced features of the 800. I feel more confident in using my detector now Thank You
Thank you so much for the information, I don't retain information when I read, I need to see as I learn. I really appreciate your time and effort. From New Hampshire
Good vids, you did a grea jobt explaining to me how setup my equinox. Have been detecting for many years and just got the equinox and you helped make the switch to a new machine a lot easier, thanks@
fantastic tuitioning you don't just show settings you also explain what there all about something I haven't seen in other tuitionings you have been number one in my findings for this exact exercise im a big fan of your station keep up the fantastic work your doing in showing us all the basics and advanced best ways for the equinox 800 .ps how much is goods sent to England thanx in advance
Thank you very much for the kind words. If you go to the links in the description of my videos you can look for what you need there and it will show shipping cost also. Thanks again Martin
So, I got my new detector yesterday and in my backyard I found a gold plated belt buckle and an old silver spoon (very fancy)! Today I found a gold cap from an old fountain pen and a very old iron/steel hatchet that looks like it was made by a blacksmith (lots of hammer marks). My house is well over 100 years old and everywhere I swing this detector I am getting multiple signals. So far I have been out for maybe four hours and I have only covered about a 30' by 30' section! I still haven't found any coins but I am sure that I will. Thanks for these great videos!!!!
Excellent videos! First time detector here. My wife bought the 800 to get me out of rhe house. Do you have a video on detecting at high mountain terrain? I live up between 8 and 10 thousand feet and will be using the 800 on mountain trails and campgrounds. Thanks
Hello Dan, congratulations on the new equinox. I have many tutorials on using the equinox but nothing about detecting high country. Everything will apply to the machine the same just be safe if you are out there by yourself my friend. You can also find me on Sod Busters Metal Detecting Facebook group
Add a section on charging that includes the correct way to disengage the power cord, I accidentally separated the magnetic housing by attempting to PULL it out :: demonstrate the correct sliding maneuver, Thanks ,,,
@@SodBustersMetalDetecting What can I say other than thank you so much, can't believe you replied straight away. I've watched so many of these videos and yours are by far the best.
I had been under the misconception that you needed to pair the headphones each time you used your detector, when in fact once they are paired you can just turn them on to use them, like the XP Deus wireless headphones.
Hi John, start with this video and then there are others on my channel as well. Happy hunting ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nb1gGWyFp_g.html
Thanks for the great tutorials... Larry, can you describe the difference between Park 1 and Park 2? I don't understand why I'd want one vs the other.. same with other modes... but understanding P1vsP2 should help with others. Bill in Meridian
I don't think I told you but I bought a 5 by 10 coil tech coil and put it on my machine well it didn't come with the proper o-ring and when I took it in the water it leaked thankfully it dried out maybe you could tell everybody to make sure on theirs if they get one
Great video explaining this detector. I’m late getting to the show here, I just found your site. I’ve had my Equinox 800 for a while but have used it very little. I tend to detect for mostly gold so I use my GPX 5000. I’ve found a new area but it is littered with iron junk. I’m curious in very trashy areas can this detector be set up to reject iron but still pick up a gold nugget that is in with the iron pieces?
Excellent video. Thank you for putting it together for us. Could you share how you safely clean your coins? I noticed that your coins, featured at the beginning of your video, are very clean. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing the video. Very informative. Did you say the manual says we have to be careful with automatic ground balance? Where? I’ve never heard of that?
You had mentioned an upgrade doing something to the iron bias? What does the upgrade change or modify? I also was not clear what the advance setting on accept / reject is actually doing? Great videos by the way, it has helped me learn my detector much faster and has taken the intimidating factor out of it as I am not a tech guy as I have enjoyed my whites MXT and Tesoro Tejon in which I still have both. I'm really starting to like this 800 though. In the past I had not been able to make adjustments to other high tech detectors that I have since sold. Thanks again!
The upgrade is supposed to help eliminate bottle caps, I have heard both good and bad about the upgrade. The tone break setting is explained here : tone break allows you to set the range in which ferrous tones will be produced as well as the ranges where the tones start/stop. This allows you to adjust the bins that will capture targets based on their target id values and hear that grouping in the audio response produced.
hi, i have question, all the settings shown on this tutorial, will they stay set if we turn the equinox off and on? or do we have to press the personal mode switch before turning the equinos off? thanks a lot. will try to do an spanish video to explain the equinox advance settings. great job.
Larry, I too wondered about this...can you explain why the same area came up with such varying numbers? Kind of makes me wonder if the ground balance actually really does anything.
Thank you for the videos. I just purchased the Minelab Equinox 800 with the 11 inch coil and was looking at the different size coils. What is the purpose of getting the 6 inch coil or the larger one? Which one do you mainly use and why? Sorry if you've explained this somewhere else, I haven't seen it yet.
Hello David, congrats on the new equinox. I mainly use the 11" coil, the 6" coil is for where there is a lot of trash in the ground and you need better separation to find the good targets. Many people also use the 6" for gold nugget hunting around bedrock areas. The big coils give you better depth. You will be happy with the 11 as it will find deep targets as well. Find Sod Busters Metal Detecting group on Facebook also and feel free to Holler with any questions.
Two questions. Are the changes you are making specific to the mode you are in only? Park, beach, etc. Also, on the advanced setting for reject, what would be the difference in running at 9 setting and just pressing the horseshoe button to discriminate iron? Thx.
