This video is the second time that I have upgraded the GPZ-7000 electronics, it is very difficult to work with indoors due to the electrical interference. "Update" April 10... I have completed one detector and tested out it the back yard, no video as I will be doing the video at the test site, but I had a really noticeable improvement with the modded version on very small targets in hi yield, I did try larger targets but the local interference made measurements impossible... So need to go out to the test sites.

Great Video, Woodie! In the Old days pre- 2015 ,us guys at PMC had a full RD room, 6x3m . Full faraday cage RD room. an Work Booths Screened! to rid off emf interferences in Build n Testing! Machinery an testing only introduced into work area ,if dumb from intererence! Visitors all scoff at visit to factory at this ? history?? Ha! Ha! It Worked! Great Work and Vids n Research Woodie! Thumbs Up!

Ahh, Thanks! a Strange thing was even all screening to earth, in rd room an booths , was still some strange ? Tesla effect?. an earth hum or oscillations?? I cant never explain? Sometimes our calibrations till up the shit?? Cheers! Rick

Sería bueno q UD. Haga sus propios detectores. Y Haci ver q tan bueno son y Haci poderlo criticar uno al otro.

Hello from Hobart…..great to see other Aussies having a go with electronics. Just saw your Minelab video but had a bit of a look around to see some of your other stuff. I collect light globes, or used to until The LED paradigm shift swept through but have been getting back into the electronics. When my mother went to s home, I inherited two of her camreas, (Nikon P510 and P600); and discovered that they record video. They are a bit hungry on the batteries but they are 12 year old CCD technology. I started with the P510 because its battery “resurected” on the bench supply at 50mA for about 10h to the point it would charge normally via USB. Did it just like you, rough ad guts, propping it on the bench or looking at the CRO screen, it is fairly “lumpy” but watchable if one can follow what is happening…it was easy eniugh for me to watch because I remembered what I did, but for someone not knowing what Inwas doing, they probably loose interest pretty easily. Over about six months….never posted any of it to You Tube yet….I felt i had to include circuits, block diagrams, CRO screen views AND what Inwas up to in the piece of gear so others could follow along. I wanted very particulsrly to show the CRO screen AND where I was hooking the probe tip At The Same Instant…so I dragged the other camera out with the buggered battery and popped sixty bucks at Battery World to get it going too, do now one films the CRO whilst the other films inside the piece of gear on the bench. I have this lens I hookd out of a photocopier at scrapmetal deicades ago, and if I duct tape it in front of one of the cameras and zoom it right in, you could see a spider mite s itting on a melf resistor clear as day….but tiny depth of field. So, if necessary I will do this to highlight whatever it is I am doing. I just downloaded a video editor called “Video Pad”, it does “picture in picture” which is great for the CRO screen as an insert, or you as an insert if there is some tiny detail, like overshoot and ringing st RF one could not see from far back. I have the ability to draw the circuit of just about any piece of electronics from the actual unit, last metal detector I did was this Garrett green thing abiut 35 years ago..so don’t remember much…currently working on a HP 3526 counter with an ECL logic issue and videoing it ad I go. So a big pointer from one Aussie Electronico to another…..before you start filming your mods, show us at least a block diagram of the detector on paper, or partial circuit if you have managed to extract it….say the front end pre amp, tell us on the coicuit or block diagram what it is you will be trying then give us a good magnified view of the actual amp, say it is an MC 1712….so we have seen the circuit, we see the chip…and then start modding that stage….we then know what the architecture of the stage is, what your intention is …and with another camera on the CRO screen, what wavefirms you are measuring….you ciuld point out where the probe is hooked on the circuit or block disgram….just rough as guts on a piece of psper held up in front of the camera and point at the node with a chopstick…then at least Inwould ne able to “follow along” a whole lot easier. Eventually I will start a You Tube channel and showcase the electronics mods, repairs, rebuilds that I have done….but I do feel they need to be a bit more watchable for the viewer. At one point there, you could see some small HF detail on the CRO, I was straining like hell to see what it was from way back where the camera was…then you said, “that’s OK, I can see it” …but, honestly, I REALLY wanted to see it too, snd know where the probe was hooked in the signal path it was frustrating as hell. Think of yourself as the viewer, watching me down inside some UPS or big amp and you JUST CANT’T QUITE SEE where I am or where on the circuit/signal path the CRO probe is and what the relevance of that specific measurement is….it need to Gel at leat half as much for us as it does for you. Just LOVE to see other Aussies with their head down on the bench ….particularly with that Minelab board all covered in that beige conformal stuff….geez I want to drown that board in acetone, isopropanol, ethanol or …dare I say it, 1,1,2 Tricloroethyene to gat all that paint off….but still jolly good work to work out where everything is through that gunk. I once fixed an analog video editor, decades ago….full of 4000 CMOS, but EVERY chip, and there were about 40 of them, were “cleanskinned”, but I still nutted out the entire circuit and found the fault. Keep up the bench videos, they will get better with time. The Globe Collector.

I'm interested to know the value and voltage of those two big red capacitors. I'm wondering about paper in oil substitutes. (I won't be able to actually get my hands on 7000 for a few months).

Hi how are you, would it be possible to modify the go find 11 which does not have a pi pointer search mode and make it active, I saw that the touch has the 8 buttons of the go find 66. Or also make the depth indicator active, which option would it be possible to modify? I eagerly await the response.

I have never looked inside a go find, I always thought it was a toy detector.

@@DetectorMods I understand, detectorism in Brazil is still very expensive, for many it is not possible to buy the detector of their dreams. For me who is just starting out, I thought it would be a good option but I thought the price was too high, I regret it a little.

I have a problem, my friend. When I put my hand on the gbz7000 stick, it makes an annoying noise. I cannot work. Please help me.

Grounding connections in the detector maybe Mylar failure or soldered wire comes off coil socket inside detector.
