Great video, got mine yesterday and went straight out and tried hunting in high conductors mode and I couldn’t find a thing. This was coming from using a whites XLT and DFX for 20 years, had to change it a bit and watch some videos of yours and now it is AMAZING! can’t believe how much better this is than the detectors I was using. Thank you sir.
That's very interesting. Minelab shared some of their Multi Frequency tech with Whites in exchange for Whites Target ID graph. This looks like an updated Whites spectra graph used on Whites Spectrum detectors. The Whites spectrum would also show you if you went over an ferrous object and a non-ferrous with a blip on the left from -1 to -100 and on the right of the line from 1-100. This is very familiar with me. I used it for years. Bottle caps would have blips that kinda smear across both side.
Thanks for the comment. You could be right. I'm late to the game when it came to what Whites did in the past. They made some pretty good machines in their day.
Very useful info Scott! Even though I watch many videos from others, I alway leave yours having learned something new, you are always very clear and informative. This machine seems to me, to be much simpler to understand and navigate than the Deus 2, what a relief. Merry Christmas sir!
my Manticore is almost a week old now and i have had great success with it in the dirt. this is what i consider the best explanation so far on this screen...........great vid......thanks
I'm in Myrtle Beach, SC with my Garrett AT Pro. My Manticore showed yesterday to my home in VA. Very informative videos. I can't wait to get home to set it up now. Please keep putting out the great content. Thanks again!
Have to say you explained it so well and even a dimwit like myself understood it all. I take delivery of mine tomorrow and looking forward to getting totally confused. Only downside to the video was we didn't get to meet Rocky. Thanks so much and I look forward to seeing your other videos.
Glad it was helpful! check out the new coin setup I just released over the weekend and you can now see Rocky. He has his own channel ru-vid.com/show-UChvfsBWyyW3Y2qVeAuY_k7Q
Good Job! So glad you posted this video. Watching carefully i see that the crumpled foil appears the same as the nickel on the 2D and that was exactly what I was looking for. If the 2D does not help me differentiate foil or pull tabs from low conductive coins and 10K rings then I'll stick the extra $700 in my pocket, keep my Nox 800 and continue to use my ears more than my eyes.
Agree, if you are basing your decision on my 1 video/1 target then yes you should probably stick to the 800 for now. Man some of you guys are hard to please. But I always tell folks to use what they want, if it works for you then stick w/it. No issues from me. Just trying to help others. This video appears to have helped you make your decision.
@@MentalMetal you are doing an awesome job! and yes, I am only using the data you provided in that one video. I am not hard to please and most certainly I do not want my comment to come across as disparaging to the Manticore or your video. To qualify my comment, I am only a casual detectorist and would not log in the hours required to learn and appreciate the additional signal processing given with the Manticore at this time. I've been looking at a Manticore upgrade for months but they're sold out so I've just been watching videos. There are few videos showing how the 2D can differentiate trash targets from something worth digging. I believe there are clues in the 2D that will help so I'm looking forward to more videos on that subject. Keep up the good work!
This is a brilliant tutorial mate!! I like your unhurried way, as we need this, we need to understand this machine as much as possible, to get as much out of it as we can. I'll be downloading your vids for my phone and computer so I can quickly access them. Subbed! Glen, Doncaster, UK.
Ugg. I really like that 2D map a lot. But don't want to spend the coin to get it. I was going to get a 900. Upgrading from 600 I sold. 70% of my hunting is on beach and this thing looks fantastic for it.
Great Video! I just recently received my Manticore, and TBH, I’m fairly novice at the hobby. My other detector is a Gold Monster, a different beast. This video really helped me understand this aspect of the manticore.. Clear, concise, and covered the subject matter well! Look forward to watching your other instructional videos. 👍🏻👍🏻
I own a Etrac and Just bought a Ctx. The more I watch these videos the more I want one. I’m still on the fence and will probably wait until more get out there in the field. Manticore is looking good though.
Wish this 2D screen was on the XPD2 as at this point in time does not have the false problems the Manticore has, if Mindlab sorts that out then it’s going to be on par with D2, Enjoyed watching and love the screen lay out on the Manticore as well as easy setting menu 🥳🥳🥳
Thanks for the video I'm really thinking of getting one been looking at all kinds of videos pro and cons. I have 4 White's detectors that I flip flop with.
Great Video! This helped me better understand the display. Just ordered mine this week and have no idea how long the detectors are taking to get delivered
Awesome video! I own the CTX as well as the 800, I’m a firm believer after watching all the videos out. This is a hybrid between both of them with faster better technology. I have the manticore on order who knows when I’ll get it but because of a shoulder injury I will be selling my CTX with the three coils unfortunately good machine just can’t handle the weight. That’s why I’m going with a Manticore.
Very well done. Clear understanding. Except I'm wondering, what kind/type of targets appear in the shaded areas, the one above the ferris line and the one below? Thank you a bunch.
I’ve been looking everywhere trying work out what the actual difference is between the upper and lower limits. You are the first person that’s actually answered that question!! Thankyou!!
Tim don't worry I have not given up on the Deus II. Just trying to get some helpful stuff out there on these new machines. I'll be turning back towards the D2 at some point.
Thanks for the informational video. Besides adjusting the upper and lower ferrous limits. Is there a way to reject VDIs on the manticore like the equinox or do you only have the option to edit the upper and lower ferrous limits?
Yes and its coming up in my next video. I'm walking you through how to setup a coin program and i'll show how to reject targets but mor importantly how to accept them.
Is there a beginners video for first time in the field? How to determine which terrain to use... what order to do things like noise cancel and ground balance... other tweaks you may want to make on site like volume?
I don't have a video in that order per se but the menu is set up to walk you through that process starting at the bottom and work your way up from selecting a search mode, recovery speed, noise cancel etc. If you follow the menu you can mess it up. However, I will consider doing a video just for that reason. Thanks for the idea.
Your bigger iron will tend to show up in the lower regions where your nails etc usually show up in the upper region. I haven't run big iron under the coil yet to confirm.
I'm not going to get into the back and forth over my opinion vs others on this machine. I've learned you die hard 3030 owners are hard nuts to crack and that is no disrespect to 3030 owners. That machine kicks ass for what it can do but if you actually learn this machine and put time on it and learn all the advanced features and how they work together to open up the machine, you might be reborn. Plus, it's a faster machine, lighter, and I don't need decade old software to create custom patterns.
excellent demo but here is my question everyone who does these demos run 2 objects what if there are lets say five or more 4 bad iron objects and one penny or silver medieval coin mixed in
I have run those tests too and if you engage the stabilser with filter turned on you will pick out the coins but you need to up the recovery speed too.
That machine is too complicated to use. I'll stick to my simple turn on and go Garrett AT Pro which cost $540 and I find coins 10 inches deep. Plus Garrett is the only detectors with the patented Bell Tone which is the sound of money. Been using Garrett for decades and found tons of stuff with it.
That bell tone is awful. Plus you only have a single frequency with the AT Pro. Any detector is "complicated" if you don't spend some time learning how to run it.
@Mental Metal I wont hold my breath.....haha....my dentist does a fine job, just gave him $500 for a root canal that insurance didn't cover...my 1st one...didn't expect that bill.
Where are you getting a Manticore for 500 dollars? LOL. Also, that graph is one of the most important features you could ever have unless you really like digging trash.
Anyone who scolds himself as a professional disqualifies himself with such senseless air tests :D metals lying in the ground are displayed completely differently, this display is useless!

I thought the same thing last year when I read the review and field test in Treasure Hunting. I've had C-SCOPE's all my life from the BFO 50 to the 1250 XD. Then I bought a Safari from Joan Allen in Feb 2015. Its good, especially on silver... a Victorian 3d at 11".. But in December, I decided to get the Manticore only because I'd extra cash by selling my car, which I only used for work that is only a mile or so away.
