There were two blast furnaces in Cold Spring. The older, smaller early19th century blast furnace was located under the Rt 9D bridge spanning Foundry Brook, owned by the West Point Foundry and the much larger late 19th furnace was located on the site of Dock Side Park, a few hundred feet north of the gazebo, on the waterfront.

Didn't realize there were that many mines there but not shocking by the river. Maybe easier to transport any ore by sea.
