I tried to make this video as viewer-friendly as possible - making my cursor the largest possible size and explaining the logic more slowly to make it easier to follow along. Let me know what you think!
@@zaxtonhong3958 Either you're talking about a different game or I'm misunderstanding you. Question marks (on a black cell) mean 0-6 of the adjacent cells are blue. "0" (on a black cell) means 0 of the adjacent cells are blue. And both of those are already resolved (black) cells and thus inherently cannot be blue.
I remember playing the original Hexcells, and it's really fun, glad they made a new one, looks way more polished! Edit: I was getting this game mixed up with Hexceed, still a great game though
I also like how a new update was dropped that updated the first two games with some polish, dark mode and swappable mouse buttons to make it more in line with Hexcells Infinite. Not necessary in the slightest, but very welcome.
7:00 Misclicking like this is my most hated part of playing Hexcells. I am such a perfectionist that if getting 1 mistake like that means I don't get all points for the level, I will make myself do it over again. I have to pay just as much attention to not misclicking as I do to logically deducing these puzzles.
I think it allows a certain number of miss-clicks, before lowering the score from “perfect” to “completed”. So if your own goal is “only” a perfect score on the game’s level overview, you can afford a few misses per level. If your _own_ OCD or whatever forces you to have a zero in the mistakes counter when completing a levxel, you are on your own.
NEW GAME! Excited to see how it goes!! Edit: HOLY SHIT I am in love!!! I have to get this game now!! As someone obsessed with nonograms, this game is so good! This is also really good as a viewer, as I can solve the puzzle (to an extent) in my brain while I'm watching, and see how long it takes you to notice it! Overall, killer video! Love it!!
Yeah it's the latest in a series, Hexcells, Hexcells Plus, and Hexcells Infinite. There's two more subsequent logic games from the dev but they're based on squares. Can definitely recommend them though especially infinite since it has a random gen, daily, and user made puzzles.
Honestly, though it sometimes seems a little silly, I *really* enjoy you narrating your thought process. It's cool and helpful to hear the way you work out puzzles and you just have a nice voice :)
He messed up the nine logic at the end (with the extra cell ("these six have 2" there were seven)) but got lucky(might not have mattered) (me: first time seeing this game)
@@mydood9675 taught myself as in just figuring out all the little tricks you can do by myself. It’s nothing special and I wrote this as a sleep deprived idiot so please excuse me lol.
I noticed when he made the mistake of marking off the nine, which was his only way a fully deducing that area above the nine, and wondered for a while when or if he would realize his mistake. I'm happy he didn't get frustrated at the end and didn't resort to just guessing the remaining few. Instead, he found his mistake and solved it the normal way.
I love the soundtrack - having the pads play in the background with the players inputs controlling a gentle lead makes such a nice zen for these kinds of puzzle games
This was so nostalgic for me I remember playing the trilogy all the way back in high school. The music and sound effects are always so soothing to listen to maybe I'll need to redownload it!
This is exactly what it's like to build anything great... cut them to pieces you can tackle one at a time. Tacking each of them give a very satisfying feeling.
Awesome to see Hexcells! It's a great game. Since you love minesweeper you HAVE to put Tametsi on your radar, in my opinion it's the best (and hardest) minesweeper game ever made. Some of the levels are played on really bizarre grids, and it has really useful built-in drawing controls
I didn't understand any of this but GOD was it relaxing to just listen to you work it out. It's like watching Sudoku in a way. I don't understand that either but it's so soothing to watch someone smarter than you at puzzles figure it out.
Don't normally comment, but I wanted to say this was super satisfying to watch! Your pacing is perfect, the gentle sounds is soothing, the game itself is beautifully minimalistic, and the 100% solvability of the game goes a long way to make it fun. Overall loved the video, nice work on taking on the hard ones starting off! It'll be hard to top that though, I don't know what the other premade/community levels are like. I could see it just being a stream game, but I'd watch the game again :)
This game was the first time I paused an Aliensrock video to go and get the game be cause I wanted to start playing it first. Stuck at 3-6 but a fantastic game so far. Thank you for introducing this gem!
As soon as I heard the title of this video I felt shame for not having thought of making this. The concept is brilliant and I put a lot of effort into my "better minesweeper" java game. Props to the developer.
I actually loved this video format. I could 'play' along and use the same logic to see if what I'm thinking is correct. You should definitely make a least a couple more of these
I have played this quite a bit, its really chill. Somehow i just assumed that you have already played it since it seemed right up your alley, but it's nice to see that you found it now. Great game.
I'm genuinely surprised you've never covered hexcells before - and very happy! It's onw of my favourite puzzle games of all time (even though I'm not that good at harder generated/user made levels)
Dang I LOVE, minesweeper, I even bought demoncrawl back when it came out so I am excited to see such a new and innovative entry in that game genre. Also your explaining was top notch 10/10
Thank you so much for showing me this exists. This looks incredible! Also your deductive skills are incredible, It'd have taken me probably about an hour to do that puzzle
This is a really cool game and is fun to watch you play. I don't think I could ever play it as it hurts my brain a little but it's really neat to watch your thought process figuring out the puzzle
I swear to god, I have had this on steam for about a year and decided to play through the 3 hexcell games just this weekend. I thought, this game would be perfect for aliensrock, maybe I should suggest it to him. but decided against it not knowing any way to suggest a game to you. Just a couple days later and you play it, wack man.
Man, I am hooked on this. Despite being bad at it, I’ve always found fascination in Minesweeper, and this takes the cake as my favorite adaptation of that game(though Demoncrawl is also cool). If you don’t happen to make more videos on this game, I’ll be sure to try and catch that possible stream you mentioned at the end! :]
I definitely downloaded this game after seeing you play it! It's very fun. The levels get a little difficult on the 2nd game near the end. Definitely an addicting game
Yes! I have always wamted you to play this game, as it is my absolute favorite puzzle game. The game might not be too viewer friendly, but i think the music, and sounds make up for it. Keep up the great content!
Never heard of this game but just stumbled across this video and this game looks really cool! Found it pretty easy to follow your explanations so thanks for that!
you tricked me into 24 minutes of logic exercises and I am not mad about it. I was surprised I was able to follow your train of thought well (though it's def a tad faster than my usual speed haha)
One thing I noticed after playing through these games is that when you mouse over a cell, it jiggles a little bit, sometimes revealing the color underneath, allowing you to skip some of the logic needed to complete a puzzle. I reached out to the dev about this and he had said that it was unavoidable due to the engine and he had already tried fixing it
