KartFab ok, in that case.if I am always gonna be over 5500rpm due to always going fast. Would I be better off just doing intake, exhaust and torque converter?
You want the bigger mini bike to win? Take off Torque converter replace with a racing clutch with 15T and a 50T rear sprocket about a 3 to 1 gear ratio and the mini bike with wheelie bar will be seeing dust!
I enjoyed the "Run what you brung" race, but I'm not too sure it was even. You weigh more and had larger tires. I bet if you had the Briggs on a similar bike, with similar riders, that old flathead would have kicked azz!
+KartFab I'm glad I didn't eat it either! I will be lowering the wheelie bar even more to try and keep the front end down more. A big part of it is the carb because it hesitates and then takes off and is hard to control. A fix in the works for that also.
I expected kart-it to win because his is more lightweight and has the wheelie bar, but he couldn't get it off the line without either breaking traction or not keeping it in a straight line. But even though you have more weight, your rear tires are larger and probably grip better, and more weight can sometimes help with off the line acceleration.
Kartfab, did your header on the mini baja come with the threaded end for 1" RLV muffler, Or is it an adapter? Really like the idea of a threaded muffler instead of the clamp on type. Would like to find an weld on adapter for the GPS header and not spend 50 bucks on the clamp on one. Thanks, fun video, glad kart it didn't bite it.
Change the drive ratio..... put a 12 tooth on the TC of the Roper. Kart It need some bar ends for behind the seat? I make them out of aluminum....... Have you seen the set I made for my Roper? Pretty sure I posted pics before my attendance slumped off......
Is the torque a verter better than a performance centrifugal for racing? I know you can change out springs and weights on the centrifugal to change the stall speed. Just curious.
The screen on your custom exhaust looks really restrictive. On roadkill he had similar mesh filters on his velocity stacks and said it killed 300hp on the dyno so he took them off. Your wheels are also so much bigger and heavier to accelerate fast, you have a lot of unsprung weight.

Yes the screen in that new part looks less restrictive than the drilled hole pattern in your current muffler. And if it's a larger mesh area on top of that that should help even more.
that baja HAS to be making close to 20 HP with all those mods...your friend is making about 9....maybe.....I think its time to tinker around with a few gear combo's
+au69miner the baja won't rev over 4100 rpms. I've been told it's the torque converter and gearing holding it back. I seriously doubt the Hp is even remotely close to 20. I'll be putting a race clutch on and messing with the ratios to fully take advantage of the mods.
I went with a 420cc on my baja. First don't cut any tubes, the engine just needs a inch and an eighth "spacer" I built an "box" 1 1/8" thick set my engine on that and I also used a polaris cvt. It's like a boss hoss mini bike.
except mine is a 5 hp flathead. as a rule of thumb, you take the intake valve diameter, take off about 2 mm, and that is the size venturi you want to put on a carb. I just took the displacement of the engine, and used a honda knockoff carb of similiar displacement engine. my 213cc briggs flathead engine took the honda gx200 carb. So a 3 hp has smaller displacement, so you may have to look at a small dirt bike carb like a mikuni or walboro (spelling im not sure of)
Ok. I have a similar build with a Tecumseh hs50. I am able to get to about 40mph with a 10 tooth sprocket on the CVT and a 50 tooth on the wheel. The engine dosen't feel like it revving up tho... Love the build man.
do you think it would be possible to build a go kart with 2wd out of a garden tractor frame with $75? is it possible to also put some kind of like flat bed or a box on the back so I can use it on my family's ranch? also, I'd like it to be under 50cc so that it is street legal. if this is somehow possible, let me know. (also I'm 12, so I'm not a very good fabricator, but my dad is and my cousin does it far a living)
well, it didnt smoke before, but my daughter layed it over in a mud puddle and it smoked after that. It could be that the cylinder wall suddenly cooling caused some damage, but I am hoping that it is just running a little rich.
i have a 1975 HPE cat mini bike with a predator 212 im going to try to find a 5 hp Briggs Flathead for it because nothing would go better with an old mini bike except an old engine
got lucky and found an engine kind of like what you recommended i dont know if its an I/C but it has bearings and its a 5 hp Flathead it was sitting on the ground at my local junkyard i gave it a few pulls and it sounded like it wants to run
cool! Those flatheads sure are fun to ride around. I ended up puttin a PZ22 carb on mine (china knockoff) for $13 and it required little tuning, no jet changes.
I have a question I have found some stage 4 performance kits for $350 and it hat new carb,piston, rod, header, exhaust, rod barrings, and flywheel and says it revs to 7000➕ rpm. basically a rebuild kit but on steroids is it worth it and do have a say in it before I buy it
I went with a belt drive like that I changed the carb and turned my governor up on my Baja warrior 200cc wrote the number on the goose neck down and I got a moped sticker and made it street legal
dang, these little mini bikes aren't meant for the street. They are short and slow, but if you go much faster they don't feel stable. I'd be fine driving it around on dirt roads and pavement, just not where there were many cars. People in vehicles tend to subconsciously ignore motorcycle drivers.
KartFab Baja warrior's are basically the same size as a moped and you can get kits to make them street legal and kits to do speed limit just because it's fast don't mean you have to go that fast I had a mini chopper and they make mini choppers and pocket rocket bikes street legal
