When i saw the redesigned Mini I immediately ordered a new Countryman S last August before the end of production of the last true Mini . At first glance you immediately know it’s a Mini versus the bland redesign which looks like a rebadged Ford Escape
Such a concise and crisp review. Thank you for listening to my recommendation of showing the old vs. new features side by side in one shot. It makes the comparison so much easier. Look forward to more head to head comparisons. Cheers.
Great comparison video. Love them both! If you prefer the old one, buy the old one they have plenty on the lot to sell you. Good thing is we have choices!
Taste is indeed a personal matter. For my family the Mini Countryman Era is sadly over. We love our 2022 Countryman Cooper S with it's perfect proportions, saddle leather interior, sage green metallic with racing stripes and all else blacked out. Last but not least a head turning design - fusion between a classic and a modern vehicle at it's best! The new model favorably described by that charming lady (hired most probably by BMW) lacks that specific charme and could be a new Japanese vehicle - without any personality. The interior of the new model reminds us of a Fiat Tipo in the 90th (Sorry Fiat but your 500 is still a deal maker as a convertable). The steel toggle switches - a trademark of Mini - reduced to cheap looking plastic switches. The head-up display is the worst on the market as speed and info not projected on the windscreen but visible on a cheap transparent plastic display which flickers! We drive our Mini not using that failure and now the new one relies only on that if you do not like to monitor your speed turning your eyes away from road conditions - reminds us of our first mini..! Sorry Mini/BMW but you will not convince us that this new Mini turns heads or enhances our emotions while looking at it - bad proportions, boring plastic interior and no charme at all 😢😢😢 P.S. We ordered one but cancelled our order having seen that new model introduced on RU-vid
P.S . Driving over 200km/h with our Mini all essential functions as climate control, etc. can be easily accessed as physical knobs and switches alliw an intuitive interaction without tipping on the centre screen and losing sight of the road.
@@thomasbecker8017This is something I would like to know about how the new mini assistant would work on controlling the climate with just your voice. I do like this car but I much rather decided if I would purchase it once I see it in person
Rims look like on cheap toy. This car lost its character, less and less mini-like elements. It's becoming more and more like any other car, in this case a Suzuki. Good cars for the masses without character. I missed the most important facts in this review: the weight of an electric car, the cost of a new battery and the cost of replacing it.
Currently my model is similar to the one in the video... I've been changing Mini for years (cooper, cooper S and now it's my 2nd Countryman). I probably won't change for the new model. In 7/8 years I will get another used one, with fewer km, but of the same current model (2022).
I can't believe that's a mini When once they were tiny and tinny But this one looks grand To travel the land As far as Papua New Guinea It's good for high people too And has even got room for a few Inside looks so plush There's no need to rush Just sit back enjoying the view So thankyou Susannah once more For showcasing the Mini four door Your reviews are five Star For every car That Drive has you speak for!
I have a 4 year old countryman S 2 litre and LOVE IT. the dash with those fab round dials the the large, it's just class. looks like a cock pit all lit up and had it since new. I do like the new Mini but its lost that beautiful classic look - I suppose they have to move with the times but I so wish they could have distend it more classic with all those bells and whistles now as Im sure they could have x
And if I am paying that much for a car, i EXPECT a bit more than "pleather," Im sorry synthetic leather seats & "fabric" trim inside. Thats just ridiculous!
It’s a shame that they cheaped out the 2024 MINI Countryman U25, 2023 MINI Countryman F60 for the win because it holds its place for the best interior quality. Very disappointed about the 2024 interior and the lack of horsepower and no plug-in hybrid or mild hybrid either.
These are only Minis by name, not by nature. They are so far removed from the original concept and moving steadily away from the original design. It's a pity really, as at least the first models were recognisable as a modern update. Shame on you BMW.
Unfortunately, the new model is not beautiful. Not from the front, not from the side, not from the back and not from the inside either. From the outside it looks like a toy, from the inside it looks very cheap and not a bit premium. Bye MINI, bye BMW 😕
Couldn’t agree more. I don’t like the new model. Looks like a toy. And the interior, well……but I think that i am going to buy the 2023. I really hope to find one in stock.cheers mate.
Can you remove the boot floor completely to increase the size of the boot permanently? This car has apparently 450 litres but my current T-Roc has 445 and seems to have a lot more room than the Countryman. Weird.
Synthetic leather maybe fine for the first owner but after 10 years of Southern Hemisphere UV will break it up like a toddler with a Tim Tam. Great review
I had high hopes for the 2025 mini, but they failed when they followed the herd in making their automobile ugly. I think I will buy a 2024 model rather than the 2025 model, so their revenue will fall short one car. Am I alone?
Mini could've revolutionized their styling...its the same since I met them in a jackfruit party 7 yrs ago with my friends fortuner everest trailblazer and mux . Good thing not an ev atleast...
@@Ford-Explorer606 and remember they were threatened by rolls royce for brand independence..... actually bmw wanted to make rolls-royce a upscaled version of bmw but .... the licence for spirit of extacy saved them ...else
@@tesla_models yep off course... with bmw I wouldn't even touch with a 10 feet pole ...its that worst...either not entertaining like tesla for future enthusiasts or not what an audi or mercedes are offering in tech nor as reliableas we Asians ...its only their fanboys that hype about bmw
Totally disappointed in the new model. Super ugly inside out. Not luxury at all. I totally regret that I didn’t buy the old mini countryman last year and now I need to look at the second hand market. Ugly design, I think mini need to bring back the old classic design’ 😢
Exactly..the lights are the wrong shape.... No curves on the body ....It doesnt have the classic beautiful vibe anymore. Might as well slap thr Kia badge on it
I'll start off with I am a massive MINI fan, and currently driva a Cooper SE. This new countryman, not so much. Now beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but truthfully, this is the ugliest MINI ever produced. It looks cheap with the removal of the clamshell bonnet and appears to be a cut and shut at the back. Two different cars have been welded together to make a frankenMINI. Ok, joking aside, I am sure this will appeal to people, probably not the traditional MINI owners. I wish them well, but oh boy this isn't a pretty MAXI - I mean MINI ;)
It's been very sad seeing Minis being hit harder and harder with BMW's ugly stick while model creep makes each succeeding version more huge and bloated. That whirring sound you hear is Alec Issigonis spinning in his grave.
Still amuses me that BMW pushed it upmarket. The original was cheap transport, designed to be bought on a “secretary’s” wages- only white collar workers earning good money can afford this now. And mini was a model, not a “brand” that yuppies endear themselves to either. The closest thing to the original concept is something like a Kia Picanto. Small, cheap and the wheels are at all four corners.
