In the US, many dentists will not advertise mini implants because they want to make more money off patients. They are not concerned about patient's budgets and/or fear of the more invasive procedures that are sometimes required with standard implants. Some of my teeth got damaged from not so good dental work through the years due to money seeking dentists that didnt give honest advice like you do. Thanks a million and keep up the great job.
I also am looking at a full upper denture and the idea of. bones being cut away and all freaks me out. .the mini bridges seem like the way to go re breakage and ease .Still have no idea why everything cost so damn much but what can the average person do. I know a dentist as a friend and he told me the markup margins are insane and he basically admitted it is just greed by the dental associations fee scale providers here in Canada.
Good afternoon Dr. Sehmi - I would like to ask your opinion on the removal of 2 mini implants (each implant has two screws). I was referred to an oral surgeon for implant removal due to bone loss. I had a second opinion and again was referred to an oral surgeon. I was told by one dentist there is a potential for nerve damage and the second opinion doctor said the nerves are no where near the implant and no chance of nerve damage. My questions are; in your experience is nerve damage during implant removal common and what do oral surgeons look for specifically to avoid damaging the nerves? Do you have any advice or questions to ask during a oral surgery consultation? You said lower dentures are much harder to get on with than top ones. I have a lower denture and it has never fallen out and I have pretty much forgotten it's there. Upper ones however have to kind of suck onto your pallet and prevent you from tasting anything. Just curious as to why you said the lower ones were harder to get on with.

These look amazing , I have had a very traumatic several years with my teeth ( I am private ) to say I a frightened of the dentist would be an understatement , I have had so many abscesses , trauma to the front of my teeth etc , very bad dentistry when we were children , teeth overfilled etc . I would love all of my teeth done , I have been told I wouldn't be suitable for implants because of my over bite , these mini implants seem perfect for me mainly because it is quicker , less invasive and less frightening , I am interested in the permanent fixture ones that are cemented in , cost isn't important but getting it right for me is . I have watched so many videos on the mini implants & the ones without the gum part but just the teeth that are placed and cemented in look ideal & perfect . Hi Sarah, I am not sure why anyone said you cannot have implants because of your bite. We do all different types of implants. Doctor, I am losing my molars to medication. Plus pain meds do not work on me. I forgot what my doctor called it. I was normal at 27 when I had my wisdom teeth removed but at 40 I had a emergency surgery and that’s when we found out my body doesn’t recognize any pain meds. As I understand bone grafting is something that people take pain meds for..? Obviously this is not a option for me. What would you recommend for replacing molars so I can at chew? Also my jaw is very small and have room for 24 teeth. Now I have 8 molars total and I have 5 left and two are rotting away. I’m at the end of my rope and I don’t know what to do. It seems every dentist I go to is trying to sell me something I don’t need. Please help. Thank you for your time
I had #4 removed. And found out the one behind it was decayed that was 2 years ago so now I have this fear I'm trying to get over which is my TMJ pain and I've lost part of number 5 and they say it needs a crown. I wondered since they're putting a crown on it should I go ahead and get a bridge but that's going to be more dental work and more expense! Or should I just focus on saving my teeth hopefully getting some treatment for the painful TMJs and mini implants will be an option to replace my missing teeth?
With your example of the guy who didn’t want the removable option, that would’ve cost much less (with the mini implants and clip), would you have to have some healthy teeth to attach to? Or can you do that as a full set for someone who has no healthy teeth?
So basically mini implants are cheaper and easier to do and less waiting/healing time. My question is what is it's disadvantage compared to the regular implants? I'm asking because i'm planning to have it done. TIA

I've consulted one of local dentist and I told them of the proposed mini dental implant of the other clinic. I was discouraged to go mini implant and recommending normal implant which is more than double the cost. Now I don't know what to choose I wish to have normal implant but I have limited budget. I can afford mini implant but I don't want to end up failure dental implant :D
Hi, it's important to realise that no implant will last forever. It is likely the the mini implants will not last as long as regular implants, but they are easier to replace if they do fail in 10-15 years, or however long it is. In short, go for the normal implants of budget allows, of not, the mini implants are great medium term implants.
In the 🇺🇸 fentist don't wanted do mini implants cause they don't make asmuch money as with regular implants. Look for a doctor who can do it for you and go for it. Cheers!

I'm missing 3 teeth on the bottom in back and 4 upper but my 4 front teeth upper have root canal posts and not much tooth left I was told you will probably need dental implants I love the idea of mini implants I take very good care brush floss and during teeth cleaning they told me I l save them no work to do that I'm brushing too much because my guns are receding. I've also had 2 dry sockets I'm tired of mushy food and dental pain.I live in USA could I still see you if I'm paying cash? T h bank you!
All of my side teeth top and bottom were extracted years ago, so my gums have shrunk a lot, I wear NHS dentures with a couple of front teeth on them as well, the rest of my top teeth are all crowned and one is slightly loose, my natural bottom front teeth are still intact and seem ok, what options could I have open to me?
You may still be a candidate for bone grafting for all on 4 fixed denture implants, however I imagine from the fact that that you didint get them in the first place you may not be able too afford it, alot of people can get mini implants tho and you might find that their a lot cheaper and just an overall easier process, the diffrence is when you get mini implants it won't be a fixed bridge, so it'll still be a process in which you have to remove your dentures, however you won't gain additional bone loss and it'll be a lot easier to eat and speak.
My father is of 69 yrs old and apparently the dentist told that his gums/bones cannot hold normal implants because gums/bones (not sure) are genetically weak ....and he doesn't have 9 teeth on the left side ...what can be done here ?? He's having a lot of difficulty
I'm assuming you remove these snap in dentures (on mini implants) every night to clean. What is the best material to use for the dentures that won't stain? Coffee has stained my current partials terribly. Thank you for your great explanations! My dentist confuses the heck out of me!!
Yes, I would clean the implants and denture once a day. For the denture, I use a high quality acrylic. It's not immune to staining, but if it's highly polished, it can be reduced. Normally staining on the denture can be removed, and if it's very heavy staining, it can be sent to the lab for re polishing
Do mini implants have a higher failure rate? With bone loss, would it be better (I know it is more costly) to do a bone graft and do standard implants with either a removable denture with implants or 4 in 1? I have 4 good areas on top with minimal bone loss, that could be extracted and implants inserted. Surrounding areas near my upper molar areas, (which now have crowns, )have about 50% bone loss . My dentist said he would never consider using mini implants on me, and I was assuming it was because he thought they would fail. Now, after watching your very informative video, I am wondering why?

My regular dentist had to replace a patient’s mini implants with conventional ones. There had been movement and possibly infection around the implants. So I’m researching this all now.

Hi Dr Gurs, I have been offered with Straumann standard implant and straumann mini implant. In term of longevity of both type of these implant ( if we assume all other factors is constant: surgical skill...), is both similar?
I have three loosing teeth at middle of low row. Can i do mini implant supported bridge? My local dentist told me that he need to use 2 healthy teeth each side to serve as pillar for the bridge and i am afraid that the 4 healthy teeth will get problem in the near future.
Do not get bridge. I will damage your adjacent teeth. Go see functional or holistic dentist to get zirconia implant because titanium will hurt the brain.

Honest answer is that we don't know. The implant surface is the same as other implants... But on the plus side, if they do fail, then replacing them is often easier and simpler than standard implants (and less expensive)
Yes, they will, however the inserts that become loose are quick, easy and usually fairly cheap to replace. They normally need to be replaced once a year.

Because they are thinner, I guess this is a risk, they would be weaker, however I have only ever seen one implant fracture, and that was a standard size one. These mini implants shouldnt be given too much loading, the dentures should still be sitting mainly on gum, so as to minimise the stress on the implants. Also by having more mini implants, the stress per implant can be reduced.

You got your implants on 7, 8, 9, and 10? The front top four? Curious because that’s what I want done but I’m scared they won’t be able to take the load of biting things?
