I work for the water board we install those (atplas) stop tap boxes without meters in and also the plastic stop taps have none returns in to , so I’d advise to install arrester on all props
We had one of these fitted by a plumber who serviced our boiler. He said we needed one because of the water metre. We had absolutely no banging until after this was fitted. It's a loud bang when we turn the taps on and off.
@@PlumberOntheJob thanks for your reply. We tried that but it still bangs. Especially when the washing machine is on. It's that loud it makes the dog jump up and start barking.
Fit one on the appliance water line valve. Made especially for this 3/4 fitting. Can fit on the applaince valve or directly on the back of the appliance@@owenrobert1333
Incidentally I'm pretty sure that Viessmann boilers have this built-in. I might still get one for the cold line near our washing machine; we have some pipe-banging.
The newer viessmann 100-W and the 050 no longer have shock absorber built in, but he plastics used by viessmann are supposed to be rated for the surge pressure , their installation manual does not require the installation of shock absorbers . I would still have pre fitted any way .
Suck it and see. Install one and if the banging stops, that's it, job done. If not, install another arrestor somewhere else in the system. I'd be surprised if any but the biggest systems needed two.
(Also not a plumber) but I think they have caps on top, remove it, and it's like a bicycle pump valve, where you then pump it up to expand the balloon up to a set psi. - but don't quote me...
I assume you turn off your stop cock for your water supply, run a hot tap to remove pressure in the line & leave on, then using a pressure gauge & pump pump it up to 2.0 bar. Turn off the hot tap & then open your stop cock.
Hi, Im having water hammer issues, ever since my new next door neighbour moved (Semi detached house)in a couple of months ago. When he turns the taps on or uses the washing machine and we do the same it vibrates through my pipes. Can I place an arrestor on my incoming feed to the house. If so whats the best to use
It’s probably gone flat and needs re-pressurising. Isolate the cold mains and open a tap then get a bike pump on the nozzle. Pump it to what it says on the vessel
