Ive been thinking about that. It's def some extra steps involved but I may want to hold out on you guys because I'd love to do some workshops so I can save it for that. Or offer people to shadow me. If I put that up on RU-vid then that would make those irrelevant lol
@@jjjaylud quick question bro; i’ve been practicing with single needle on fake skin for about a month and wanted to know what you recommend for bolder outlines if the design needs it. I do another pass on lines i think look too skinny (even though they’re saturated) but i know on human skin more than 1 pass you risk damaging the skin. Do you make two lines then fill in? Or do another pass slightly above the first line (after you have worked other areas)
@@Ixey2605 I would recommend you use a 3RL. up the volts slightly(from 1rl settings) and maybe to steady pulls. I use a single for bolder lines too but I go slightly deeper and go over it a few more times and even it out. The problem with this is if you lack proper depth control you'll just blow it out or it will be uneven. And ig you keep going back to even out the thickness and you lack a steady hand, it will keep getting bolder but still uneven and loops until you have a mess haha. I don't know your skill level I'm just assuming the worst case here
@@Ixey2605 Oh yea the equipment quality really matters I've learned. try some quality 3rls too and see how it feels to you. It might resonate in some way. Lets both keep learning and training bro!
Love your work. One of my favorite pieces you did awhile back was that typewriter. How do combat redness and swelling? I know everybody’s skin is different but is there a certain method to your breaks/time that you tattoo? I find often the smaller pieces are much more difficult bc you can’t move around too much?
Hi sorry for the late reply, It's not practical to pack with a single. If I do it, it has a static'y look because I'm scribbling/poking. If you look at the videos of tattoos and skip to the darkest darks, you will see how I do it. But that isn't really packing honestly. You should opt for a mag or a shader if you want to really pack.
0,5 -1,2 sounds like pmu depth. I’m a Pmu Artist and just started tattooing with single needle and wondering if i need to go deeper with tattoo or will the machine just do the work? I use cheyenne unio stroke 3,5-4. Btw, Love your work! Learned so much from you 😍 keep making videos please 🙏🏻
I don't think you need to go deeper. At least I don't need to. And that information further confirms that it may be the right number in mm to describe single needle depth range. PMU and single are pretty much the same because even the regular kwadron 12-01RLLT and PMU 12-01RLLT is the same thing. One is just pink and marketed for PMU. Anyways thanks for sharing cause it helps me confirm. Thanks for the love.
@@jjjaylud thank you so much for answering! This was my biggest question and struggle. Your technique helps me so much 🙏🏻 It’s jjjaylud on repeat instead of music 😅
hi jay im huge fan of yours. I was wondering if you have any advise on making stencil for a band wrap tattoo. Ive seen some that youve done and they all came out so beautifully. i tried so many different ways but i keep flopping
dang I need to make a video on this. In short its very tedious and requires a lot of practice to pull off. My way of doing it at least. So I don't mind sharing it but it won't be a quick fix or a shortcut unfortunately.
That doesn't affect it. whether using a greywash or pure black with a 3rl or 1rl or mag or 9RL, it just gives you different results. You don't have to do one or the other, it depends on what you want.
Hi J, thank you for loading this, you said voltage is 7, is that high, what’s your highest voltage? I use Xion s with critical atomx, if I use 7 , will be the same speed like you?😊
I think each machine is slightly different because they're made stronger or softer. Like a bishop packer at 7 vs sol nova 3.5 at 7 is different. On the voltage possibilities, 7 is on the lower end so I would say it's low. Xion is not the same as sol nova so I can't say. And if it's on the critical, it's the same as on the built in wireless power(battery). So the only different thing here is the machine type.
@@Tommy-gn6zx Yeah ofc. The packer(packers are strong to PACK in the ink pigments like colors). whereas the Sol nova 3.5 is a soft machine made for smaller needle groupings. If you're using a single, go for sol nova 3.5. if you do big color work and need to pack in colors or solid black at a reasonably fast speed with a magnum needle, you go for the bishop packer. If you mismatch then it creates problems..
fair enough. A lot of these micro tattoos don't last too long because of poor execution. I wanna say I got it down at this point in my career but that's not for me to decide. I have a lot of healed photos some only a few months and some a few years. It's on my instagram story hi lights, I have over 300 uploaded. 😎 I have a lot more but I've been lazy with posting lol. Anyways only time will tell!
@@mandyschmidt7960 I can confidently say if done right, a finalize tattoo should look great 10 years. Now I'm going to give an educated guess for this part: 10-20 years it will look blurry but still good. 20-30 years is will be quite blurry and overall readability will now really depend on the execution, initial size that was chosen, adequate spacing between the details, use of contrast to separate details and offer image readability. 30+ will be very blurry and now have the mysterious vintage look, or just a blurry tattoo depending on how you want to put it lool.
@@mandyschmidt7960 But keep in mind, a lot of tattoos fineline or not, are not done great or done so-so. For example A lot of bigger bolder ones are way too deep and blowout/blur/ink bleed right off the bat. I say this having 10 years experience in the business. I also have a Extremely well done bold tattoo on my left bicep, a so-so bold one done on my right tricep, and a poorly done bold one one on my left shoulder blade. All done around the same time yet the shoulder one looks like it has aged 10x faster.. The same quality variations apply to fine line.
lolol yeah I'm using the pink Permanent Makeup 12-01RL LTs. They're the same as the regular brow 12-01RL LTs. I buy these when the regular ones are out of stock. These just cost a little more which I don't mind paying.
