Dude! You're video helped me SO MUCH! Found a old Maglite Mini sitting in storage that my family and I completely forgot about for several years. Took me a bit of investigating to find it had a old corroded battery stuck inside. Your video was what enabled me to take the Maglite apart and begin repairs. Now, I got it filled with damp Baking soda/bi-carbonate soda. Thanks to your help, hopefully in 24-ish hours, I might have me a restored Mini Maglite, thanks to you. 😃

How about protecting the thread on the end with a piece of wood and giving the barrel a good whack from the backside instead of hammering on the switch assembly?

Got any tips for unscrewing and removing a corroded on tail cap? I can't get mine off to remove the batteries, and have ruined one or two others trying with various vices/pliers/wrenches. I tried penetrating oil, and soaking it in vinegar. It's locked on tight!

I'm using the reverse side of a trim nail punch but these batteries have been in the mini mag for A very long time ( 25 years) give or take and they aren't budging. Any other tips to get these batteries loose or freed up?

There you see, Use Duracell and be sure within a year your product holding those batterie's will be destroid because of leacking Duracells. I like Panasonic industrial, or Energizer Lithium, Eneloop rechargable. (Be sure not to buy ilegal replica's) Never had problems with these brands.
