This video is great. I am also looking at Rallying a modern Mini Cooper here in the states. Suspension has been the only thing that is holding me back. B-Spec Rally America here I come. :)

Have you done it? If so what sort of suspension did you use?

Nhf1185 I have a 2004 mini and I used koni adjustable suspension system and I made the front suspension 50% stiffness and the rear 75% stiffness due to the car being light in the rear and have from all the engine weight in the front. Therefore the car will grab turns very nicely and not have much body sway.

@ 8:10, The mechanic says that the stock Cooper S's 6 speed is geared to a top speed of 177 mph?!? Where is the video on RU-vid of one doing that?

It’s geared for it, it can’t do that, I believe that the electronic limited speed limit is about 135, I’m pretty sure, if you have the space, it could only hit 140-145, and I doubt that it would be stock

Basically the gearbox, most likely, was originally designed for some other car, but it fits/works really well on the mini cooper

Excellent build! Almost no one has died in auto racing for 30 years. The sanctioning bodies continuously make changes to regulations regarding roll cages primarily for job security. This is most prevalent in drag racing where cages are requiring more tubes and bracing every couple of years. While you can see the intent of the changes, someone needs to put the brakes on these changes. A simple rules change that states no changes are to be made without evidence of injury or structural failure. It's ridiculous.
