This example shows how to work with a thermal printer. Using this printer you can print bar codes, QR codes, receipt printing, reminder printers, etc. stuff can be done using this small mini cheap serial thermal printer with Arduino UNO.

Do we really need to use the adafruit library? cuz I saw on circuitdigest that you could just send data via the UART and it'd start printing...

No friend we do not need any library. You can pass the command to printer and it will start printing. This is my blog where you can find the datasheet with its command. Just you need to understand and write it. myengineeringstuffs.com/mini-serial-ttl-thermal-printer-token-machine-62 for simplicity I used a library. Sorry for replying you late.

Hi I tried to program the thermal printer using arduino mega. I fed it from an external source (7.9 Volts) as it was written in thermal printer documents. When the Arduino mega is connected, the green light on the thermal printer and the red light under it are constantly blinking and the printer is giving out the paper, but what could be the reason there is no writing on the paper? I couldn't solve the problem. I would be glad if you could help. Good work.

Great vid! I hope you can help me. I have the same printer as yours but in the TTL, I have five wires lined in the following order from L to R: Black, Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue. I'm having a problem where to connect these wires as the PCB has no label in it, it only says TTL :(

Hey friend I have checked the printer specification. Have you tried my code. Because the printer is same, it also works on TTL pins and RS232. I suppose it will work. Please give a try.

I made the connection right TTL (From printer ) to Arduino , used adafruit library but nothing prints. ( When I try to change the connection to rs232 port on the printer some garbage value prints ). Any idea how do I debug this ? FYI using same printer RS203

Hey friend .... If you are using adafruit library then you will find a processing code which will run on processing software. Hey *Yasmin jimenez* You can the code and circuit diagram from the links given in the description box. And equipment are Arduino, Serial Thermal printer and a 9v power supply with 1amp current(min).

Hey friend, the circuit is so simple. Just you need to connect Tx of Arduino to Rx of Serial thermal printer and Rx of Arduino to Tx of serial thermal printer. and power up the Arduino with proper voltage as well power the serial printer with proper voltage with common ground.

Hey friend as you can see we are using Adafruit library which is having a FONT file which is responsible for the font to print. If you want to use own local language, you need to write a code about the pixel arrangement. As of now I don't have any font file friend, need to write.
