Ugh, the Simplex 4030 still gives me nightmares when I heard it for a fire drill in elementary, middle, and high school. That thing was so loud, when it went off due to a malfunction and caught me off guard in the hallway instead of being in a classroom and ready for it, I was nearly rendered deaf because of it. As for the Edwards 380, I believe there's a church down the street from my house that still uses it, even after almost 35 years living here and seeing other places modernize their fire alarm systems.
My old school had the 4030 but it was the louder one but it looked like that, It was on continuous. He was so friggen loud, I think the pull stations were the older Bg10's.
My high school used to have the flush-mount version of those before it was renovated 20 years ago. They did a really weird coding. It was a cross between a watch alarm and 60 BPM March Time. Those things were loud for sure
simplex 430: gulg gulg gulg gulg gulg gulg simplex 4050:ba ba ba ba ba ba ba Wheelock 31t-115:ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh national time and Edwards 380: err err err err err errr err err err err err err
My Elementary School Has Old Simplex Horns (Forgot The Model Number) And Simplex Cheveron Pull Stations My Middle School Has National Time 411's Gentex Commander 3's And National Time T Bar Pull Stations Finally, My High School (I'm Not There Yet But I Take Swim Lessons There) Has RSG T Bars, National Time 411's, Wheelock NS's, And Wheelock Exceeders
the gray buzzer on the right "National time and sound" is that sound on you tube? It was very scary to me at my Taylor, MI elementary school "Blair Moody school" sometimes we would have 2 fire drills a day!!!
At 6:10. I have heard that if you put a non-polarized bell or horn on a NAC, you will fry your NAC. Some panels have built in protection against this but cheaper panels don't. And, I have heard that non-polarized stuff will cook the NAC in minutes. I would imagine that relays would do the same reaction. But yes, I think non-polarized stuff will fry the NAC.
Emmire Vargas Some alarms can code themselves, some can't. Pretty much all modern panels can code the alarms. A lot of old panels couldn't. It all depends on how the system is set up.
Alright, thanks I have a cheap knock off of a normal specter alert. It has siren and high-lo but dosnt have a continuous option. I'm saving up for a panel, I have a pull station wired to a battery and the horn knock off. Can you recommend a starting panel for me.
At my old school Willow Woods, the fire alarms that they have there is the NATIONAL TIME I don't actually know what there called but they are the same as the GENTEX Commander 3
***** Can you try and get a hold on a 4003EC or if you find one at a building can you record it? My school has one though they only have the TrueAlert Speaker strobes on the first floor in the middle and in the gym but when I tried to record them, the TrueAlert(LoudAlert) horns are loud and you can barely hear them over the horns since the speaker is at a low volume and the only place where I can get a good recording of it is in the gym.
***** Nah it's too new of a panel to get ahold of. If I ever do an inspection of a building with one then I could record it.By the way, the 4003EC is a rebranded Wheelock SAFEPATH.
Isabel Calmelat Well thank you! Although you're not my biggest fan... that's a Harbor Breeze 52 inch ceiling fan installed in my bedroom. That's my biggest fan. ;)
Bells in modern fire systems are EXTREMELY rare to find, and even 20-40 years ago they were uncommon. Unless you live in Canada, where you see them everywhere
