Miniature Locomotives Running At Thornes Park In Wakefield Uk - May 2018 I visited the club to video Phil from Blackgates Engineering demonstrating how to clean and fire a small locomotive and it seemed like too good an opportunity to miss - so I captured some video of the other engines running and briefly spoke to a couple of the club members..... IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP ME AND BECOME A PATRON OF MY RU-vid CHANNEL VIA "PATREON", OR IF YOU WISH TO SUPPORT ME VIA 'PAYPAL" TO HELP FUND THE PRODUCTION OF THESE SPECIALIST MODEL STEAM ENGINE TUTORIAL VIDEOS - PLEASE GO TO:

The dynamic way the chap at 3:27 absolutely cracked me up. Like a man on a mission :D Btw, the linkage of that green locomotive of the young chap is interesting.

As a kid, we had a miniature railway built at our local park in Gravesend, never got used sadly apart from me and a mate with our Hornby Rocket as this had two sets of rails in a large oval circuit with sliding sections for putting locos on and off the track, a real shame as it lied derelict for years before council relandscaped the area into more sports stuff. Luckily tho for me, just down the road on the old S&DJR is the lovely Gartell light rly which is a narrow gauge, we also have the Shillingstone project and the new Somerset & Dorset up at Midsomer Norton (very near the opening scenes of the Titfield Thunderbolt) and of course Swanage railway where me own father was head signalman at isn't that far away so we are spoiled for steam in this nick o' the woods. If ever you are down here Keith do go visit Shillingstone and Midsomer Norton, Gartell is worth a visit too, also if you fancy some track walking, the old Radstock West line is pretty much still there with plenty of old GWR buildings lurking about :)

My goodness that train is swift. I would never thought it would go that fast.

Is there a noise ordinance as to why whistles are not in use? Here in the states, many clubs require you to observe the correct use of the whistle to indicate your use of the locomotive. one toot on whistle when in motion to stop Two toots on whistle = forward Three toots on whistle to reverse. two long, one short followed by one long whistle indicates your approaching a crossing. the final long ends with the pilot axle being in the crossing.

Is that drive rod on "Jeff" articulated? It appears to be, and the only reason I can think of to do that is because the rear driver is of a different diameter than the others.

Might anyone be able to tell me what kind of loco that is starting at 2:50 please?

It looks like a "Quarry Hunslet" loco to me.

4:55 if you don't mind, what type of locomotive is that? While all beautiful, the black prince and that one (which is the bigger narrow gauge right?) Are my favorites by far. I really like the finely scaled engines (I'm sure there's a better term foe what I'm getting at) that look like scale models, but all these are absolutely beautifully built!

There's nothing like this in New York, sad. The nearest one is 300 miles from me. Poop.

For me its probably a two hour flight! I am building my own 5" gauge track, and already have an electric powered loco.
